Starting School Age
Five years old: England, Scotland, Wales, Northern Ireland, Malta, the Netherlands
Six years old: Austria, Belgium, Czech Republic, Denmark (6-7), France, Germany, Greece, Hungary, Iceland, Ireland, Italy, Norway, Poland, Portugal, Spain, Sweden (6-7)Â
Seven years old: Estonia, Finland, Latvia, Lithuania
Okay so these are the official starting school ages for children across Europe, although itâs more like 4 that 5 in England. I think four is too young for children to start school. Well its 5 years old when they start year 1 and formal learning and that age where you have to sit and write in exercise books and do maths worksheets.
I personally think the age for starting formal learning should be year 2 so the year they turn 7 and ideally only if the child is ready to learn.
What do you think the age children start formal education should be?
This was left as a reply to one of my post. It's so brilliant and quite true I had to blog it myself. Thanks for all the replies to by blogs :)
PLAY and FREEDOM
Quick question to those of you with children.
Are you happy to let your children climb trees and take risks, and even come home from playing covered in mud???
and who has memories of doing these things as a child?
Love this song :)
Educational Theorists
If their theories are good enough to make them pioneers in education, how come most school don't teach how the theorist suggested???
In my opinion Froebel, Reggio Emilia, Steiner, A.S Niell ect... all had the right idea about education and child initiated play and learning yet the government insist they know best and we have sats and group children by ability and make them learn things they don't want to.
I'm writing my assignment and struggling to understand.
What are your opinions???

Sunday day time: Family round
It's a big family get together today as it's a close relatives birthday. You see it as a dress rehearsal for Christmas, so youâre kind of on guard already to wear something that 1) You're younger cousins won't point and laugh at all day because they donât get that 80s revival look or 2) Wear something your batty Aunt might possibly wear as you attempt to pull together a vintage look from stuff you've scoured from the local charity shops. Play safe or be yourself Fantasy shopper?

The competition is hotting up but everyone keeps talking about one thing â Amelia Lilyâs cuter than cute candyfloss coloured hair! While you donât think youâre quite brave enough to try the look yourself, it has put you in a girlie mood for PINK! The pretty, soft shade cleverly works on all skintones, youâve just got to tweek it up a notch depending how fair or dark you are. Think pink Fantasy shoppers!
So what do you think? Pink enough?
