[omg i'm horrible sorry for being so late for everything, everything has been so hectic...]
A short, bitter laugh left her mouth. “Partnered up? Hardly. The only partner I need is Renamon.” She was quiet for a moment, her own brows lowering as she considered what to say next.
"Strange because she didn’t have a partner. She became a Digimon. Not like Biomerging, just straight up human turns into Digimon. And…let’s just say we had a little disagreement that didn’t end well for either party."
"She called herself the Warrior of Wind," Renamon volunteered, "and had two different forms. I can’t say I’ve heard of any Warriors before."
"Yeah. And she spouted some junk about being this world’s protector. That’s it, really. But if we ever see her again, we’ll be winning ourselves a rematch."
It was an awkward time to express any hint of amusement, but he couldn't help it. Regardless of the situation, Ruki would always be... Ruki. There's no reason she'd change, and there's no reason she'd accept help from anyone beside the people she trusted, and even that was a stretch. Needless to say, although being forced into the Digital World was a pain, it slightly relieving knowing that she was also here, along with her competent Digimon.
"Hmm... A complete transformation into a Digimon without the need to biomerge? Is that even possible?"
Jenrya delved into the possibilities, thinking of ways that that sort of mechanism would be imaginable, much less feasible. Assuming it was a Digimon and not something extraterrestrial, this unknown girl would have had to come from a different dimension, or a different time - either way, they were now unified in the same fragment of space and time through the Digital World.
"Warrior of Wind... World's protector..." he mumbled to himself. He wanted to ask if she was carrying anything that might be valuable in the real world, but he held back the urge. "Forget the rematch, that was all the information you got out of her?"
"Heh, sounds like a nice name. I’m Junpei. Nice to meet ya." He grabbed the male’s hand, shaking it nice and hard, "You know.. I’m excited to fight you while gaming. I bet it’ll be a lot of fun." He began to walk to his apartment, waiting for the other to follow.
Jenrya shook off the tension in his hand after the larger male let go, subtly appreciating the brute strength he had, even when it came to mundane actions like a simple handshake.
"Yeah?" he replied, picking up the boxes from earlier and making his way into the building, "What do you usually play?"
A nice guy and a philanthropist. At some random bar that had homeless people hooking up in the alleys. This picture was developing, but it was getting blurry instead of clear.
"Changed my mind, I’ll pay for my own drink," Taichi had no filter when it came to rejections. When facing the unknown he went with his gut feeling. And his gut was telling him that this guy had more than what’s shown and Taichi wanted none of that right now. People weren’t nice unless they had something they were gunning for.
To make sure that happened exactly as he said, Taichi waved down the bartender, pulling out neat bills to make sure his tab was paid.
He would have let him go. He saw no problem with the guy getting up and paying for his own drink and leaving - they were complete strangers, after all. That is, until he saw the money.
Reacting quickly, Jenrya placed a hand on Taichi's and waved to the bartender as well, yelling out with a smile, "Two more martinis, double the olives in one." He turned back to the brunet, wearing the same smile from before and said in a hushed voice, "Come on, the night's just started, you can't leave now."
His eyes darted to meet Taichi's for a quick second before helplessly staring at the wad of cash in his hands. In an attempt to hide his greedy outburst, he let go, turning his attention to the newly made martini in front of him. Jenrya took the toothpick and played around with it, stirring up the clear liquid with the olives attached. He took them out and slowly bit one off, savoring the bitterness of the soaked fruit as he put the stick back down.
"There's more I want to know about you - who you are, to start maybe?"
Ruki allowed a grin to slide across her face. “Hey Terriermon. It’s nice to see you too.” She winced a little as he slid down; the little Digimon had inadvertently caught a bruise.
Renamon soon appeared beside her partner. “Hello, Terriermon,” she said, giving a nod to Jenrya. She, too, wasn’t in the best of shape, but she stood tall.
At the question, Ruki’s smile soured to a frown. “No idea. I was hoping you might have the answer to that one. I was dreaming, and next thing I knew, I woke up in the middle of the desert! And I ran into this…strange girl…”
'Izumi,' she'd called herself. 'Warrior of Wind,' whatever that meant. It wasn't often Ruki met someone who could match her and Renamon in battle. It was as unnerving as it was thrilling.
Upon hearing that Ruki didn't have any clue as to why they were brought to the Digital World either, Jenrya furrowed his brows and lowered his chin even further into his hand in contemplation. What interested him more was her followup story - a girl she'd run into upon her arrival.
"Strange girl? Did she have a Digimon with her?"
Ruki's description of the female in question implied that it wasn't anyone that they knew, making it pointless to ask who she was and why she was also here. Then again, it couldn't hurt to fish for more information, assuming the two had even spoken.
"Where is she now, then? Wouldn't you two have partnered up or something?"
He had to admit, it was nice seeing her again, though the circumstances were a bit unfavorable. It wasn't every day that people were sucked into the Digital World, but when they were, there was usually some power-crazed idiot to blame. Whether he had the patience to get there was a question he already knew the answer to.
"Ruki!" Terriermon leaped from Jenrya's back, jumping towards the other Tamer and landing softly against her body, embracing her in a hug. "It's been so long since I've seen you!" Sliding down and tugging at the base of her pants, the Digimon turned and faced Jenrya.
"Ne, Jenrya, we'll be fine since we have Ruki now, right?"
"I wonder," he replied softly, bringing a hand to his chin to think. "Do you know why we're here?"

Jenrya laid back against the trunk of a nearby tree, the vast dome of leaves above him successfully blocking out the intense rays of the sun. It was just like any other day for the young male, evidenced by his heavy pockets filled with stolen items.
Not my fault people don't take better care of their things.
He sighed of exhaustion, using his right forearm to wipe away a bead of sweat that had formed on his head, then took out a small coin he had taken from a child moments earlier. He played around with it, flipping it into the air and mindlessly watching it rotate in its trajectory.
Up. Down. Up Down. Up -
As the coin traveled down for the third time, Jenrya was enveloped in a bright light, one that stole his senses momentarily until he felt the certainty of land beneath him once more. He was still beneath a tree, though it was one of many that decorated what appeared to be a dense forest.
"Jenrya!" Before he had a chance to react, Terriermon had taken up his rightful seat on the male's head. "You're here too?"
"Seems that way, Terriermon," he responded, relatively unfazed by the event. "Has anyone else landed here?"
"Who knows? But I think we should go that way," the small Digimon exclaimed, pointing to a random direction.
Jenrya chuckled. "Your sense of direction was never great. Why should I listen to you now?"
"Momentai!" Terriermon replied, patting his Tamer's head lightly. "My guts are guiding me this time around!"
Knowing full well that arguing with Terriermon was like speaking to a brick wall most of the time, he had little choice but to concede. The blue-haired male stood up and began walking in the direction his personal navigation system had suggested.
"Alright, alright, we'll have it your way."
"Yeah. I plan on inviting my friend, Masaru over for a gaming marathon and I invited some more friends. You should come over if you want." He grinned, moving to pull a beer out of one of the boxes and opening it. He took a gulp of it with a grin.
Jenrya responded with a genuine smile. The few instances in the past when he actually had time to indulge in video games were cherished memories, and the experience coupled with some alcohol didn't seem like an offer he could turn down.
He placed the boxes he was carrying on the ground nearby and approached the larger male with an outstretched hand.
"Sure, that sounds fun. I'm Jenrya, by the way."
"Yeah, thanks. I’m hosting a game marathon this weekend and the boys and I need as much booze as I can buy~!" He grinned, smiling at him. He offered the male some of the boxes.
Jenrya took two of them comfortably, unwilling to hold more in worry that something in his body might give. It wasn't as if he were weak by any means - just concerned about the strain of too much weight.
"Game marathon?" he inquired, somewhat interested in the event that was mentioned. "What do you mean?"
Friends or Enemies? || bitterfacade
“You might be logical, but you’re still so, so stupid. You hope and believe and what has that done for you?” Takato shook his head rapidly and then stopped, rubbing at his forehead again. “You’re smart, Jenrya, but you’ve still got some morals in there, don’t you? A gentle nature.”
“You’re over here…what do they call it? Courting chaos? Yeah. You’re over here courting chaos, treating it like a normal conversation.”
He snorted. “But what’s life without a little chaos? It’s just boring. Kind of like Kudou. He’s boring without a little chaos mixed in. Do you know Kudou? Probably not. Some prodigy or something. At least he’s a ‘gogglehead’ with a brain. That’s what they call us, the so called ‘leaders.’ Apparently we all fucking wore goggles, except for one of the idiots who doesn’t even have a team.”
"Hey, there's nothing wrong with believing in something and hoping for something better to come along," he responded, a hint of resolute will underlining his words. "Sure it fails sometimes, but you have to make it work out. We've done it before."
He looked over at Terriermon, who wore a shocked expression, almost in disbelief at the route the current conversation was taking. Jenrya didn't want to bother asking about the whole chaos bit, though it appeared to mainly serve as a transition to his next problem.
"What's wrong with being one of those leaders?" he inquired. "You were pretty much one for us."
Seeing people happy?
Taichi held his small sip on his tongue before letting the bitter beer down.
Taichi was no artist. But this guy seemed sketchy.
"Typical success story. Only things unique about it are my personal details." Taichi put his full cup back down, "I came here for business, so I visit this place often enough."
Answering the stranger’s question fully Taichi turned over some of his own, “What’s your deal? Any exciting adventure stories of your own?”
Hearing the other male's response made Jenrya want to gag a bit, although the success part of it was interesting enough. As much as Jenrya wanted to hear more about the potential wealth that he had, the brunet seemed unwilling to delve deeper into his own life - or so he figured.
Jenrya took another gulp of his beverage, almost slamming the glass back down on the tabletop with an audible and satisfied exhale, before turning back to his company.
"Just an honest soul trying to make a living for himself in this shitty world. Me visiting the local homeless shelter is as exciting as it gets, but it's rewarding giving back to society, so it's not too bad. We've been running out of funds lately to buy supplies, and that's been on my mind, which is why I'm here, trying to drink it off my mind. Speaking of which, who do I have the pleasure of treating tonight?"
"Well…let’s just say I’m cautious after a couple of run-ins." Taichi grabbed the handle of his beer, blowing some of the froth off the top before taking a sip, "Why do buy random strangers drinks anyway."
Jenrya shrugged and gave a light-hearted laugh in response.
"Oh, you know, I just like seeing people happy. What better way than getting a free drink?" he followed up, drinking a fair amount from his own glass.
People generally became less aware of where their wallets were when intoxicated, but he didn't have to know that.
"So what's your story? Come here often?"
(44) “Are you coming onto me?”
"What are you talking about? I tend to buy random people drinks every now and then. Guess you were lucky."
Ruki returned the laugh at his final question. “Crazy? Hardly.” Bloodthirsty. That was the right word. She liked her title of Digimon Queen and she liked even better what it required of her. She was more then just a card player now—she essentially continued what Hypnos started: indiscriminate slaughter.
"What about you?" she shot back teasingly. "You go and lose your mind over the years?" It was unlikely he had. Jenrya seemed different, but he also seemed a whole lot more stable than some of her so-called friends.
The only people Ruki knew who hadn’t seemed to change were their Digimon. Guilmon appeared to be the same happy self the time she’d seen him. And Renamon was much the same, though their partnership was far different from their original relationship. Which reminded her…
"How’s Terriermon doing?" she asked.
Jenrya offered her a light smile and responded, "That's good to hear. I'm glad not everything has gone to shit."
At her followup question, he hesitated in answering right away. It took a moment before he shook his head and managed to blurt out, "Nah, does it seem like it?"
All things considered, he did change since the incident. Unlike what Ruki mentioned about the other tamers however, his transformation was more internal, more about how he perceived the world and reacted to certain situations rather than a complete change in the person he was. To him, it felt like he was still the same Jenrya as before, only more unwilling to let go of monetary possessions and opportunities that would allow him to satisfy his materialistic desires. But she didn't have to know that.
"Terriermon? Oh he's doing fine - I think he'll be pretty excited to hear that I met you today. I'm sure he'd love to see Renamon again. I'm assuming she's fine as well?"

"EXCUSE ME, COMING THROUGH!" The overweight male was holding several boxes of beer, ready to drink his ass off this weekend.
While 'what the fuck' was the first thing to come to mind, at second glance, it didn't seem as if the guy meant any harm. He figured he could try and get a free drink - the multiple boxes of beer couldn't possibly be all for him.
"Hey, need some help with that?"
Interest in Nothing | Yamato & Jenrya
He breathed out, and spied his breath before them in the cool air. His eyes lazily, almost uninterested drifted toward the other. “I don’t like being followed…I’m not stupid.” Shifting his weight (as light as it was), the older figure tucked his hands away in pockets, nothing of interest for the other sounding. No change in his pocket, hell all Yama had was a pack of almost used smokes and a shitty lighter.
"You hungry or somethin’?" He knew that life, pickpocket or no, he knew what it was like to live when you didn’t know where anything was going to come from the following day.
The blond posed an interesting question. Should Jenrya say yes, it seemed as if the other weren't averse to providing him with something for free. At the same time, he generally disliked being perceived as homeless or poor. Still, his greed played a far greater role in his life than pride, so he had little subconscious choice in the matter. Even with the fair amount of cash in his back pocket, receiving free things was something he could never turn down.
"Why, do you want to take me out?" he responded, a sly grin forming on his face.
