Like seriously how can a song like Truffle Butter get a nomination but not Drag Me Down? I’ll never understand

….Truffle Butter is a song with Nicki & Drake, two artists at the top of their craft, that went Top 20 despite no promotion at all or even a video, selling 980k copies to date just cause it’s a good song, while 1D threw everything they had from performances to giveaways and a video behind their lead single that’s the same old pop-rock they’ve been pushing now for almost 2.5 years, yet that song (Drag Me Down) only sold 50k more copies than Truffle Butter did…

so good on the Grammys for recognizing adored songs that don’t get the glitz and visibility that promotional lead single campaigns can buy instead of the formulaic boy band filler that’ll sell despite no one remembering it

1D literally had no promo at all when they first released the song they just dropped it in the middle of the night and it went straight to number 1 and broke the Spotify streaming record with no video and no promo except for a few tweets and 1D are one of the most successful musicians to date and have redefined the term “boyband” with that “same-old pop-rock they’ve been pushing” which really isn’t the same if you’d actually take the time to listen you’d realize they have evolved and continue to evolve their sound and stretch farther and farther away from the sound of a typical boyband and also they managed to write a song that was catchy and fun but didn’t have lyrics such as “put it on my dick like a carpet suck the white off white chocolate” but ones that actually held some meaning so excuse me if I believe they deserve a Grammy nomination more than Drake and Nicki

Nicki and Drake’s music is like going home and having dinner at your mamas house.. it’s all over the place and kind of messy but it’s tasty as fuck and leaves you full and satisfied afterwards. It’s all homemade, rich and delicious and has a lot of care and love put into it.  One Direction’s music is like going out for fast food. It’s somewhat tasty and it’s in nicely printed packaging with a cute logo but it’s empty calories, full of artificial fillers and cheap ingredients - conceptualized by a board room full of rich execs, and manufactured in a factory as cost-efficient as possible.
