Tbh I think Flowers in the Attic deserves better than being dismissed as trash. It's a rather accurate, if not extreme, depiction of parentification of older siblings, the repetition of generational trauma and the incest is depicted as wrong and a tragedy instead of something sexy. Yeah, it's melodramatic but at least there's a little more depth than in some of the booktok 'dark romance' books
