Hiatus...

So I’ve been in hiatus for far too long... and well actually a lot of things happen...  I’ve been doing some videography as of this moment and as of Gunpla and Gelgoog Jaeger, well its still being halted... GUNPLA STUFF # 8 MSR-00100S Hyakushiki Kai

Its been Awhile again, as usual I’m busy and for the whole couple of months I’ve been doing this Sazabi project for GMKC, the sad thing about is I failed to finish it, I failed to make it more shinier and add details... Anyway enough about that, allow me to present to you my 1/100 Hyakushiki Kai  

Just to let you know this is not the Pbandai version, take note today is may 30 2016 and that hyakushiki kai is not even released yet.

This is actually a resin conversion kit that uses Hyakushiki 1.0 innerframe, I believe its the recast from Bclub, made by.... some dude.... I honestly dont know who recast this, besides there are few missing stuff here like the pipes and the boosters, good thing there’s gunpla builder part.

This ones seems pretty much better with a stand, other than the back back is too heavy due to resin weight, in which actually the reason why I include a stand on this blog review, 

Its kinda seldom for me to, shoot a gunpla with a stand on it, must be a GMKC thing.

Since I am using a Hyakushiki 1.0 innerframe, expect the articulations are limited, compare to 2.0 (I dont have a 2.0)

But the good thing about this kit,the articulations are still perserve, except for the head and the armpit areas, those were my fault, the tubes supposedly came from gelgoog 1.0 part were petrified due to paint.

Sorry no comic clouds for today I’m too stress.... lets try to review this without the stand.

Tried to give it a dynamic pose but it keeps on falling, I fear it may break or something better be safe then.

And I believe that’s about it, Well this kit is really great for a resin conversion,suppose to be I am planning to customized this kit but I got lazy, will do it some other time, decals never bother placing it, it didn't blend, I think its better if it has no decals but It feels naked, but oh well. this kit doesn't even have any decals anyway so whatever.... whats important is I completely enjoyed building this.

well that’s about it, I feel like I want to buy that strike white zeta.... but no avail so tune in for another resin experience, my next project will be....

Gunpla updates

So as you can see, time and time again my um, gunpla/resin collection is starting to increase exponentially and right now they are starting to build an army and they have now taken over my room...

Isn’t it amazing  Come to think of it I forgot to include the 2 zaku cannons, a sinanju stein and the geara doga....  well the reason why I take a picture of that is because I joined a contest or event thingie of some.... iphone game thingie and quite honestly I dont even know the title of the game... Something to do with this....

Any idea what the name of this game? I have no idea, all you really need to know is they keep changing names and searching for this application in iphone somehow takes time.... Moving forward Here are my Hyakushiki kai WIP....

Well there will be slight changes on my painting style for now on.... I’ll be using this style in the near future... well right now Hyakushiki Kai still in need of some parts, like those tubes/pipes thing....

And this is just a preview of what the fully painted hyakushiki kai looks like, if there are no tubes/pipes, no painted details and decals looks like.... As you can see its still incomplete.... not sure if I can finish this within this month,  I’m planning to do a custom decals for hyakushiki kai since, it was never included to begin with, as for adding weapons and stuff, I think I’ll pass with that project for now, it has weight issues (back heavy) and it took me a lot of trial and error to make this kit stand on its own... Hello 2016

Time really sure fly fast and Hyakushiki Kai is still WIP lets try something new for this year and this year’s upcoming contest... I want to use Alclad paint, its no secret that I am sucker when it comes to metallic colours but my friend once told me that the highest shine that I am looking for can be found on Alclad... This paint is much more unique compare to Gaia notes and Hobby Colour... well that’s what they say... so during the month of December 2015, I decided to buy some of those Alclad Stuff and use it to my my other zakus that can be disposed off... I mean at my disposal... it takes awhile to dry and cure then fast forward to this time, here’s the result...

I kinda mimic the real type colors, because this is the only thing I have right now...

Well the result of this outcome was pretty astonishing, but its still not the gloss I am looking for, well that’s because I forgot to put clear gloss paint.... but then again this is just a test and see how good Alclad paint is.... and in my opinion, this test was a success and I am planning to do another gunpla project for GMKC using Alclad.... in the meantime Hyakushiki Kai will be temporarily halt until I find more resource to fix its issue...

Some Artist Tips you May or May Not Know

Just from personal experience.

1: Never try to draw on an empty stomach. You’ll make mistakes and be uncomfortable. (But don’t stuff yourself till you’re sick either.)

2: If you have to go to the bathroom, go. A full bladder or otherwise does serious damage to the attention and patience spans. Plus it gives you time to stretch your legs.

3: Before you ink it, leave it alone. Come back later (a few hours, a day?) and check for major anatomy mistakes. Work on something else while you’re waiting.

4: Stay hydrated! The brain and fine motor skills work better when properly circulated.

5: Do not have an excessive amount of sugar before sitting down to work. You’ll get jittery and impatient. Same goes for immense amounts of caffeine.

6: If you’re stuck, take a break to stand and stretch. Walk around the room. But don’t THINK of it as a break. Just take time to really focus on your body. Loosen it up, get a goooood long stretch and some deep breaths. (but don’t pass out!) It’ll jolt the mind awake and let you really relax a moment.

7: Keep. All. Your. Old. Art. I don’t care what it is. Keep it. Date it if it’s in your computer folders. Make a suitcase filled with it. (I personally have ALL my old art in a thick work folder.)

8: Keep your sketchbooks together, used and unused. If there’s a good sale on sketchbooks, get two or three! You won’t regret it later. There’s no such thing as too many. (I currently have about ten spankin’ new sketchbooks and I know I’ll need/use every single one of them.)

9: Date your sketchbooks. Put a start and finish date on them.

10: I’m afraid I don’t practice this one: date your drawings. You’ll be happy about it later. You don’t need to SIGN every drawing, but do date them. At least date pages.

11: ART BLOCK HAPPENS. Art block is pretty much a CONSTANT state of mind for artists. You’re never out of art block totally. But sometimes you get bursts of inspiration that make it feel like you’re out. So instead of feeling like you’re ill if you suddenly have artblock, remind yourself that this happens all the time, and you get out of it eventually, every time. c:>

12: If you’re REALLY stuck on some bad art block, do what I do.

Draw a brain barf. This is where you take a blank sheet of paper, and you just LET your hand be A.D.D. Draw whatever comes to mind, as it comes to mind. in the middle of drawing a hippo in a top hat but you think of a jolly rancher riding a unicycle? Switch immediately.

Let your brain just vomit all over the page. You’ll be surprised what comes up and what art block this can get you out of. It’s gotten me out of it various times.

13: Take advice from more experienced artists. But do NOT take everything as Gospel. Some people are just wrong.

14: HAND SHYNESS/ ART ENVY/ SELF CONSCIOUSNESS/ AND SKILL IMPATIENCE WILL EAT YOU ALIVE like a Titan. Do not let yourself get shy after looking at ‘better art’, do not let yourself think your art is worthless or your skills are worthless, and do not let yourself get frustrated that you cannot be at a higher skill level RIGHT NOW. Your brain will try to do this. All the time. Keep yourself in check. If you keep going at it, and keep working, you will get better. This is why you keep your old art. Look at it to remind you how far you’ve come.

15: Draw what you like. This is so important. (This does not apply for exploitative art. :l That’s just wrong. So long as you’re not targeting someone harmfully, I guess you’re fine.)

But don’t let people’s preferences dictate what you can and can’t draw. Draw whatever the heck you like. Accept that no matter WHAT there will be someone out there that hates it. Always. This is just a fact of life. But don’t let it get you down. I would have stopped being an artist at day one if I had.

16: You never. Stop. Learning. Ever. You will be old and grey and still be learning new things. That’s okay. That’s the nature of art. Even the ‘pros’ don’t know everything.

Gunpla Stuff # 7 MS-09R-2 Rick Dom II

As you can see I’ve been doing a lot of Airbrushing practice lately and if you noticed my progress I’m abruptly changing my style to Airbrush, as of this moment I’ve already quit doing Spraycans except for topcoating and primer, then I discovered that there are alternatives for primer by using this Mr surfacer 1500 by thinning it using tamiya laquer, however I haven't found any alternative for topcoating...  One of the few things I hate about spraycans is that it rans out quickly and sometimes petrifies my kit due to the thickness of the paint, compare to airbrush... yet.. when it comes to handpainting, its still needed if you want to add details on your kit, I discovered that enamel based paint are more into handpainting compare to acrylic and laquer... And that’s just about it, honestly there much more to learn. While some people are doing withering style to paint their kit, my style is more into glossy metallics and I dont think you will see much of withering or flat/matt based dirty type kit on my blog... so without further adiue, I would like you to introduce my first custom made resin conversion kit

Not to be confused to the old Dom I have years ago...  So errr.... that’s Rick Dom and Dom... Know the Difference... Forgot to mention, I made a mini photoshoot for my model kits after I cleaned my work area, its a total mess if you ask me, imagine stardust memory 0083.

Yes I know, Rick Dom Zwei has one big butt, yet love the propellers anyway...

back side, replace the boosters using gunplabuilder parts, never really like small boosters anyway.

Its basically a resin conversion kit with some add-ons from gunplabuilder parts and added some metallic screws and beads, I never intended to overload it because  it may kinda look steampunkish. This is the first time I am doing this type of customization, the only thing I hate about this conversion kit is its proportion, small shoulders, small head and some other stuff will get to that later. And also dont mind the Rick Dom Zwei’s visor, I just made that thing using recycled transparent plastic, the original Dom visor made by bandai doesn't fit on the recast resin mold, bad mold I guess... hey at least I’ve tried...

I never really like the Rick Dom II Bazooka, also known as 880mmRB-T27 Raketen Bazooka.

So I decided to give it to Rick Dom instead.

It looks pretty cool if you ask me...

I know what you’re thinking,  what did I gave to Rick Dom Zwei?

I gave him this... Ex-T2-2 Beam Bazooka

Its suppose to be a custom type rifle but I decided to give that rifle to a Gelgoog class, and yes I ordered a Gelgoog conversion kit, you’ll just have to wait for a couple of months to see it.

Besides it looks better when this dude wields it....

It really depends on the preference, you’ll be the judge.

Rick Dom Zwei has the same articulation as the Dom, however it loves to hides stuff due to its bulkiness and size, its not a brick kit I can tell you that, it can do some poses but its not as good as the original Rick Dom... To be honest the poses you see above are almost the same pose I made for the original rick Dom, its just that kinda look like giving an illusion that it looks like a brick kit but its really not, I believe its the proportion that made it look that way or again, probably its bulkiness.

I also added some few features of this kit, I added magnets I kinda make some of them attachable and detachable at the same time using the power of magnets, some I purposely glued due to the fact I realized too late that I can use magnets to attach and detached things and I never thought I can find a magnet vendor on my place... There will be more of this magnet stuff in the future...

So final thoughts so far.... although admittedly some of the parts are badly mold, this is something common if you buy a recast resin, most of the parts there needs glue or a pin to completely sealed because all the parts there are loose and almost all of the parts there are re-customized and reinforced by putty to make it look cool...

I guess that’s all for now.... Doms are really nice when they are in packs... So after Rick Dom Zwei, what will be the next project?

Hyakushiki Kai  I failed to pre-order the P-bandai ones and I miss the deadline, but luckily a friend sell me this one... Some of the cool kits are P-bandai, I hate P-bandai....

GBWC 2015 Entry

So here I am, once again I found myself entering on a contest in GBWC. I met Mr Kawaguchi but failed to get an autograph from him, seriously Robinson Magnolia is not a great place to host GBWC, its technically hard to go there via commute or by car... In any case this is my entry.

A simple Diorama, I cant find a suitable name for this Diorama I just call it The Amazing Duo, This is my 2nd Diorama I just made everything simple with no modifications whatsoever.

This is what it looks like when I submit my entry on the exhibit. With a photobombing Dom whahahaha... Originally it was suppose to be a Beargguy, but I changed my mind due to third party infringement, The Original concept of the Diorama was suppose to be Beargguy is being chased by a Bigzam, that explain the trees and all that stuff, Instead I got Amazing Red warrior and kurenai.

And this what happened to my Beargguy, Imagine this picture, There this huge Bigzam on the back ground on the left (on the trees) and beargguy is running away from Bigzam while holding Pucchiguy.... But its alright, everything is cool...

at least I earn my experience in GBWC and got a Badge and a Certificate without my name on it whahahahaha...

Well that’s all for now, I never got a chance to take alot of pictures there in GBWC due to restriction (judging thingie) and my hands are really full during that time... Next I’ll be posting my Rick Dom Zwei.... Stay tuned....

Oh hi Bearguy

2 weeks ago I saw this advertisement about this bearguy contest thingie and while working on my never ending WIP Rick Dom Zwei Project, I suddenly decided to join the annual contest in which of course I didnt realized that the contest starts on Aug 1st and i was WTF

So I got this bearguy thingie and just to let you know this is my first HG since 1995 (never in my life buy an HG) and of course never thought that building a simple model kit would be life changing so long story short...

I finally made this no need to show WIP because its really too quick compare on building resins and MGs... oh and forgot to mention I build this while I have a broken freaking neck, yes its true I have nape injury in which it requires me to have at least 2 weeks of bed rest for recovery but that doesn't stop me there.... 

And then I see my creation again being displayed and hoping i win or something :D  until.... until I found out that there is another contest thing called most likeable bearguy, I’m not really that into fame or something but its worth to try... Gunpla updates

Its been a long time that I havent updated much here in thumblr, well suppose to be I am uploading pictures of my Entry in GMKC last may but I forgot, due to work related stuff and its eating away my time but any who here’s a picture of my entry

I used Airbrush for this and no hand paint, I really love the shades I made here, but unfortunately though as always I didn't win 8D but it looks good and the only thing I forgot to do was cement some of those stuff and ad putty, something to do with basic modeling stuff.. Originally it was suppose to be green 

But I decided to make it orange steampunk style thing... I’m not even sure if its steampunk style... I dunno, just choose which one is better the green Christmas tree colour or the Orange steampunk colour thingie.. your choice..

Speaking of Rick Dom zwei its still in WIP, during that time, and I was thinking of violet and purple...

Well the good thing about it is that its the articulations still movable.... as for this moment this type of colour sheme is just a text colour I wan to do something else, and its still not primed though and most of the stuff I plug-in to is still not being sealed or reinforced....

As of now this will be my latest update for Rick Dom Zwei, everything here is sealed and reinforced and I’ll be posting more updates next time... in a mean time

The Black Void Society

After so many months now, finally I’m back online... I really have no idea whats up with thumblr, and why the page cannot be displayed on my main PC... I’ll just pretend my PC has a mind of its own and they dont want me to do this online blog journal thingie... So lets move-on and lets talk about something else... last time I see the magical result of an Airbrush and by this time if you already figure it out right now I have already shifted to airbrush completely... and I am planning to give this to rick dom zwei but... I ended up doing steampunk stuff and this the result so Far... Customize it myself

Well this is just my first try and it ended up good so far... and speaking of Rick Dom Zwei

It seems more Elongated than a mere Dom in my opinion... I really thought they have the same size, really...

And this is so far the result of using Airbrush, this is just a preview and its not completely done yet, this is just more like a test paint, I really want to add more details of this kit,  I am planning to add more parts on it using Gunpla Builder Parts, or some tiny screws and I have no idea where to get those...   I think this project will be done in june or something, it really depends though... and yes I am using Gaia Notes, I’m a big fan of those paint, it just looks lovely... I am planning to submit this in toycon as a custom category...  But I think for now I have to postponed this since there will be a upcoming GMKC event on May and I only can manage to finish an on the box build for a month and since today is march 17, tactical wise I would rather start building my entry by now....  So what will be my entry?

I chose Marasai Suppose to be the Dom but, I already submitted it waaaay back in GBWC... obviously I lost... and since I still have the receipt maybe I can submit 2 entries if and only if I I have free time, and when it comes to on the box build I dont just build it right away I have to cover alot of numbmarks using putty...

And Here’s the marasai... it is now ready to be painted (right after I disassemble it again) My plan in this contest is just to have fun, I think you and I both know that if you always plan to win obsessivley and once you ended up losing it will be frustrating and I dont see no fun in that especially there will always be someone who is better than you... But that doesnt mean I wont give them a good fight, I just want to enjoy, its fun building gunpla... and I am just going to turn this into marasai unicorn colors version...  I wanted to turn it into metallic like but I dont think I have the time and a resource, besides it also takes months for the paint to be shipped so whatever... I’ll be posting more of this once done... And speaking of which I am planning to change the name of this Blog, instead of Outerhaven... I wanted to rename it; The Black Void Society... There will be Gunplas, Steampunk, some photomanipulations, cosplays, more artworks and a film... I’m not even sure if this will be a good idea, but honestly, while Thumblr is defective, I've been doing some of those stuff in Deviantart, pininterest, facebook or other social media.... I was thinking, why not combine all of it and call it, The Black Void Society and all I have to do is linked it... You know for fun.... I think now is the time to showcase some of my hidden talent to world, I’ve been hiding for years now, shifting to one social media to another afraid to express some of my works... I mean I am not really into attention stuff, it just came into me, its like; why bother making an artwork if you are just hiding it? and that ignited my spark and decided to rename all my blogs and journals... The Black Void Society besides its a catchy name anyway :D

2015 Hauls

So I forgot to celebrate new year last january 1st, because there's something wrong with my thumblr account when using google, as if it was blocked or something. So alternatively I  used mozzilla in order for me access this site... So anyway lets start this year by showing of one of my new hauls this january... An airbrush with compressor and this home made thingie

I mentioned before that I am going to switch to AB so there you go, expensive yes but its a good investment and i can also use this stuff to paint not just my gunpla but also my cosplay props and yes I do cosplay SURPRISE!

  after another long wait finally I got this dude, together with this scraped rick dom parts I bought sometime ago...

only problem with this resin conversion kit is; no water slide decals... I am not even sure what to do with this project, should I customize it to my own personal rick dom II or just plain resin conversion like I did to the past? It depends with my creativity.... right now I am playing magic the gathering, so there wont be any gunpla stuff this january... wait next week will be febuary 8D time sure does fly... I'll just update more with my next post...

Random stuff

Well here we are again, few more days and its new year... time really runs so fast... I never knew I have been doing this quite a long time now... So for 2015 I am planning to do something new and I decided to buy my own airbrush, you know, for fun.... I finally realize the difference between an airbrush from hand and spray painting. It really looks nice by the looks of it. I really want my kit look eye catchy and looks like it can compete to a gundam competition. I wanted my kit look like an actual art instead of just a hobby, I wanted to win at the same time I also wanted to have fun... There will be another resin conversion kit coming probably this week or January (it depends) it will be a rick Dom II, come to think of it there will be more Doms this coming 2015, I also preordered the Dom Dozel Zabi custom and to mention I am customizing something using rick Dom parts etc etc etc all about Dom... Anyway these are some of pics you don't see everyday

Gunpla stuff # 6 MSK-008 Dijeh and Dodai Kai

After surviving countless storm and some floods... Finally I have finished this kit...  note to self 101 never ever do spray paint on a rainy days... ever... and if ever your going to build another full kit resin buy a pin or rod or something, never use super glue, unless its a conversion kit. anyway this is my 6th Resin conversion stuff; MSK-008 Dijeh and Dodai Kai.

Yes thats what their moms called them. One of the most hardest kits ever, not to mention this kit loves to self destruct alot, and most parts are too brittle and I have to recement and customized everything using tamiya putty and a few epoxy putty and also placed some pla plates

I cant really say anything good about this kit, I terribly having trouble fixing some errors, some of the parts are too bended in which not even a sandpaper could fix it, then again I learned that you can rebend a resin with boiling water, it works somehow in my case but at least I have finished it, oh and I totally hate the hose.

and speaking of articulation, its pose-able yes..  its the same as a zaku 2.0, but um there are also addition parts placed on the knee and the shoulders and i cannot really risk bending them, i tried but I ended up glueing some parts again, resins are really that brittle when it comes to small parts and also somewhat heavy. meaning  I intentionally made this as a brick kit, instead of a pose able kit in which I always intended to do so like the High mobility Gyan, the problem here is I just dont want to risk repairing the kit again for so many times, yes it is poseable, but I totally sealed everything using epoxy, so if anything happen to the knee, boom ahahahah....

speaking of articulation, I customized the wings too, I remove the resin joints and placed it with kotabayuki parts, the both pair of wings are too heavy for a back pack,  and you know what.... I accidentally delete the back view of this kit

Maybe I could do a some few pose, but it needs some tic tak to do the work, even though that is an eraser for my sketch and drawings hahahaha btw that naginata blade came from gelgoog cannon.

and that beam rifle and clay bazooka came from rick dias and hyakushiki... well based on my research, Dijeh was based from a rick dias and it was build by karaba, at least you know why its called MSK, the K stands for Karaba and not Kamille just kidding hahahah

now lets change topic and talk about Dodai kai its a full build resin kit actually, I think my mistake here was, putting glue instead of a pin. I am not quite sure about the build and the colors, the manual is just printed out  

this is the back part, still I dont know if yellow is a good colour, something tells me I made a mistake. not sure if you noticed it, I used bandai decals for this kit, I really misplaced and totally lost the decals, so I just used bandai instead, since amuro is the one who pilot this MS, why not use his decals... and I heard there suppose to be a Karaba decals but... it was phased out.

one thing I can say about Dodai is it can be ride by just about anyone...

even Hyakushiki can ride it...

yep everyone indeed, I feel like i want to produce more of this dodai stuff...

Final thoughts I tried my best but my best wasnt enough~ I really want this kit to be poseable but, its just too risky, so I decided to leave it just that before something happens. I somehow used tamiya spray paint on this kit, first time using spray paint on a resin, ussually I use it for a contest but I decided not to join GBWC, due to personal reasons.... so I gave the spray paint on that kit cause usually I'm more into hand paint, and it somehow look really nice.... I feel like I want to do more airbrushing than spray painting, some say I should invest more on airbrush, because this can actually give the shades I am looking for in order to make those metallic or candly like colouring and its worth it... As of now I need to take a break on gunpla for awhile, and focus more on my cosplay and animation. besides it takes a month for a kit to arrive... I heard there are more resin conversion coming so stay tuned... and dont worry I am not quitting just need to take a break, never thought resin can exhaust me or something
