unpopular opinion but i absolutely do not agree with the people who say the new art style is a downgrade. the school arc looked less gothic because it IS less gothic! it's not the art styles fault. animation quality is so much higher and we ought to be grateful. of course ciel looks softer - he has to blend in with other students. he was not dressing or acting like usual. look at how pretty it is!!

Agreed the new look is fresher and softer which makes the more serious moments feel heavier since the color pallet tends to darken (unlike being super muted like the original seasons) when the tone changes. PLUS people forget that the Victorian era wasn’t super gothic and dark most nobles wore and decorated their homes in bright colors to show wealth and that they could afford dyes.

I have to say that out of all the concepts Kuroshitsuji presented us with, "what happens when you give a traumatized victorian child a gun" is certainly one of the funniest out there
