Lachlan toss the ball up and down. After so many years, its heft and weight felt nice. In just a matter of three years, Lachlan had gone from Rookie of the Year in baseball to Fortitude Hall rookie. Just another young person whose powers thrust him into a different path entirely. His brothers made it look so easy, with their careers in movies or music. He found himself scrambling for some control and at the same time, wanting to be the best, to master himself.
Maybe even become a Protector one day.
Walking through campus always helped that anxiety, and especially being in the gardens where so few students and staff would hang out that often. He didn't really know why, the place was quiet and offered a degree of privacy if you knew where to adventure. Because of this peace, he wasn't exactly paying attention to where he was going. As the ball fell back into his hand, he jerked around at the suddenly flurry of movement and a flash of solar energy ignited the object and it rolled from his hand.
"What? Sneaking up? This is a public pla--SHIT" The baseball in all its fiery glory was now rolling towards the bed of flowers and Lachlan scrambled to grab at it. "Fuck, fuck!" Lachlan cursed, tripping a little. Elegant. Very elegant. His cheeks flushed with stress and embarrassment as he finally snatched it up and soaked in the solar energy back into his body. "Close one."
It was a bit of a challenge to figure out his spot in this place. Fortitude was a place, he thought, to find himself, figure out that whole ‘what am I’ schtick. For Duncan, it became almost nauseating at how much he wanted to find a way around it all. That was why it was so easy to get lost in thought within these gardens. To sort of feel a sense of relaxation amongst all he had to do at this place. Maybe this was his chance to follow in the footsteps of the greats who came before him. He shook his head for a moment and scoffed. Maybe. Just maybe.
At the moment of him standing before the man, his eyes went a bit wide watching the ball catch fire like it was nothing. “Holy fuck!” He yelped out as he watched the man drop the ball before it hit the flowers. “Maybe I was the one sneaking up on you..” He threw out as he smiled a bit watching the man trip trying to stop the beauty of the flowers from being ignited.
“How did you-” He stopped mid question as he watched the man absorb the fire back. “Impressive.” He chuckled as he tilted his head a bit. “Didn’t realize I’d cause a man to start a fire that quickly.” The man adjusted his leather jacket and nodded. “Sorry about that.”
