âDonât tell me what to do, kid,â the words might have seemed snappy from an outsiderâs perspective, but there was no malice beneath them; if anything, she was barely concealing a toothy smile, âPfft, you wish. You and me, weâre gonna have to test that theory some dayâ Iâll bet you a steak that it wonât be you who comes out on top.â Even if that ever happened, it was likely Nyla would have eased up. She knew how to hold her own, but she was also the master of letting otherâs win. âYou say that like itâs a bad thing. You know thereâs no one Iâd rather be stuck with,â the words were rare and genuine, but the moment passed quickly, âDonât tell me you actually care about getting in trouble. Lifeâs only fun when youâre breaking a few rules, I thought Iâd already taught you thatâ there are no fun adventures had sitting in a classroom.â Probably the wrong attitude to have, especially considering how bad she was currently doing in school, but when had Nyla ever cared about book learning? She was good with her hands, learning through doing, and that was unlikely ever to change. While getting up to mischief more often than not landed her into a heap of trouble, it was also on adventures that she learned mostâ maybe that was why she thought it was so important for Cody to join her all the time. âBut the same could be said about comedians, brother,â she pointed out, the oddness of cartoons unlost on her, âTheyâre just humans who say offensive things, yet everyone laughs and makes them famous. Cartoons arenât half as bad as they are⊠well, all the cartoons aside from Courage and Catdog.â  Her smile was nothing short of pure happiness and excitement, and she gave a sure nod, âThere arenât many, but thereâre a fewâ Iâll introduce them to you, whenever you want!â Drama was pointless; all it did was cause temporary excitement, before it died down and was forgotten about. Nyla had lost interest in so many of the different school dramas pretty quick, around the time she realized that it was usually the same situation with different peopleâ she couldnât have been happier that Cody had learned quicker than she not to indulge in it. Leave the humans to their human ways, that was her motto. The harshness which had appeared in her voice was immediately lost once more, and her expression turned soft. âI agree. Letâs leave him where he belongsâ in the past,â then, because she couldnât help herself when his words seemed unusually gentle, âEverything ok?â
