seeing people have their faith in dessknight shaken by chapter five is so weird cause like. we basically learned like two or three things about the knight and they were like

a black shard was present at the scene of a previous dark world, likely the shelter dark world (which we know is open now, and very likely has been for a long time given both the fact that people warn against going to the shelter + it's been locked down with multiple codes so no one can just randomly open the door, and that seemingly the only way to close dark worlds is with a human soul), which could most likely only have come from the black knife. which we also know looks like a bat, and is almost certainly dess' baseball bat that is specifically described as "cracked"

the knight is in some way able to "ignore [flowery's] fake stats", which other people are seemingly unable to do. presumably this is because it is able to manipulate the code in some tangible way beyond what "normal" darkners/lightners are able to do (see: its fight), and it's been speculated for ages that dess is UNUSED and has clipped out of bounds or otherwise found herself in the code

possibly related to that last point but not directly tied to the knight, in weird route noelle and kris are seemingly able to do something that majorly fucks with the 'script' and potentially also results in them clipping out of bounds. noelle calls specific attention to how dess "left" during this scene, in a way that absolutely signals the audience to connect those two events

and with all of that information it's like. yeah I think dess is still the answer that makes the most sense here.
