So many of the complaints I see about shows lately are people being confused by things THAT THE SHOW WANTS YOU TO BE CONFUSED BY THATS THE FUN OF MYSTERY AND FORESHADOWING YOU ABSOLUTE GOBLINS THE MAIN CHARACTER IS ALSO CONFUSED AND THEYRE GONNA DO A BIG REVEAL AND EXPLANATION LATER IF YOU WOULD JUST FUCKING WAIT

Why do ppl think that every problem fictional characters face can be solved if they just go to therapy? I mean, it was fine as a meme but then they started taking it seriously. I mean - a) therapists aren't wizards who can solve everything b) the therapy system isn't above being abused and c) this will sound old fashioned but I personally think therapy takes all the fun out of the drama in a story.

a) YES BECAUSE EXACTLY THE POINT. Its not that therapy which is becoming part of our culture cannot be incorporated in a story but it hearkens to your point b) and c) that is NO THERAPY IS NOT A MAGIC CURE ALL for anyone . In fact , I have personal experience with this very phenomenon where it seems Therapy not only didn't help a friend I knew but it INCREASED her mental issues by giving her another person she can bounce off of her lies and delusions off and get therapy speak approved words to force people to behave the way she wants them to. Therapy actively made her WORSE.

Now whether that happened because despite being with her for 2 years, her therapist cannot see through her lies( she actively lied about a LOT of people to me and its likely she did the same against us with her therapist as well) or she ENABLED IT so her therapist can keep a patient on hook for her profit. Either way I wouldn't know now since I have severed all contacts with her.

But this real life experience is part of me growing up and dealing with real life which includes internalizing the idea that Therapists are just like any other medical field practitioner- they might not get what is your problem right away, You might not like how they treat you and go through multiple ones before you find the right one. Even then some issues can take DECADES to resolve and your life won't stop revolving while you are at it. Sometimes its possible you would never solve your issues at all, after all HUMANS LIE all the time, you can end up wasting your therapist's time for years at a time , getting nowhere ( I even found a case on reddit where this girl gets angrier and angrier that her therapists tell her that fiction is a great outlet for fantasies and thoughts, its not reflective of the realities of their life.....like she was hoping they would so she can blame fiction rather than herself for her tendency to "wanting to rescue a child". She has ditched multiple therapists this way)

So yeah , we can insult and joke about "get therapy" but...no therapist is not replacement for meaningful connections in your life or wisdom you have to internalize. NOR ARE THEY SOLUTION to your personality problems. The good ones can help you but like antis love to preach against anti hero characters "Nobody can help you if you don't help themselves!"

So yeah the idea their favorite character will be happier without whatever character they hate and only seeking therapy might be FAR FROM REALITY which only drives the irony of their desire to see fiction be "realistic" and "romanticized" . They LOVE to ROMANTICIZE THERAPY THEMSELVES. You can get therapy, solve one issue but still be a huge mess and an asshole about something else you didn't seek therapy for because you didn't think its a problem. People don't seek or should seek therapy for having any and all kinds of personality issues they have, that ain't healthy either. It only makes them dependent on third party to check themselves rather than rely on your own.
