I woke up early this morning. About an hour earlier than usual. I got up and went to my media room where I switched back and forth between CNN and MSNBC. When there's real news, I don't turn to Fox, but that's for another day. I pulled out my phone and opened Facebook. Immediately, I notice a post from a young lady about women being raped and the "tape culture." She made interesting points, most of which I agreed with, like "No means no", even if it was preceded by "yes." And that a woman has a right to act and dress as she wishes. I agree. But in today's world, things are a bit different. There seems to be a sense of entitlement from both the accused and the victim. With that being the case, does the victim assume any responsibility? As cut and dry as most think this is, it's really not. She also intimated that "...rape culture is a man's problem, and men need to fix it..." - as if men are never the victims of rape. I decided to take a closer look. I went to her profile and looked at her photos. As I suspected, she was a "model" and every picture I saw was of her showing more birthday suit than anything else. In my experience, this argument seems loudest from those fitting her look - slim, blonde, blue eyes, barely clothed. I don't want this to sound like I'm excusing a predator's sick ways, but, if you know there are sharks in the water, do you get in - with a chum necklace? NOT EVERY WOMAN, but some go to night clubs, barely clothed, no under garments, looking to have a "good time." They may be with some girlfriends or they may be alone, but, they are looking for attention, free drinks, drugs and more. Hardly seems responsible. The NRA (National Rifle Association ) just lobbied Congress to pass legislation to allow citizens with a history of mental illness to still have access to getting guns and ammunition without a more detailed background check. That's very telling. Here's a question for the ladies... When you were growing up, your parents made sure that you were dressed appropriately. Why is that? And if having your legs open with tights and baby undies wasn't appropriate at 2 years old, why is legs open, with no undies appropriate at 20 years old? That's a chum necklace. AGAIN, I AM NOT JUSTIFYING THE BEHAVIOR OF SICK PEOPLE WITH PREDATORY HABITS, but let's ALL take responsibility for any part that we, as individuals, play. I hate hearing about these cases, but I feel that many of them could have been avoided, if someone had just taken responsibility.
