THAT FINAL SCENE

What really gets me is that when Lizzie realises that she’s free, that Red actually did it she doesn’t know where to turn. The one person she’s waiting for isn’t there. until he suddenly is. He has been there the whole time. Waiting for her to see him and realise that he hasn’t, and will never leave her. Her smile is one of immense relief and joy and she instantly moves towards him; long purposeful strides. Red, on the other hand doesn’t know what to do with himself. He’s just staring at her from across the street, nervously waiting for her to make the move. The minuscule twitching of his lips, the shuffling of his feet; he wants to go to her but knows she must be the one to initiate. The momentary pause before she hugs him is like a deep breath before a dive, allowing her to quickly asses what she’s feeling and she just goes with it. The parting of her lips, shaking breath out as she clings him to her. She wraps him up in a tight embrace and finally Red allows himself to return her touch.

I've never believed in Lizzington more than I do right now...

Liz walking out of the courthouse, tentative and unsure of exactly which direction she should go, but looking around….looking for someone. And of course he’s there waiting for her and her instant smile and emotion, but suddenly she knows which direction to go and a more purposeful walk I’ve never seen. The way he looks at her but he lets her come to him so the reunion will be on her terms. Their faces said it all. The embrace said it all. There really were no words needed.

Oh and that’s Red she just rode off with into the night after the cameras stopped rolling

He was waiting for her, like he will always be waiting for her. But it will also always be her choice. And whatever their relationship turns into, whatever Liz needs him to be… it will be Red and Liz at the end of the story.

Imagine Red gets business cards made up for ‘Reddington & Keen, Consultants in Crime’ with no actual contact info on them and he starts handing them out to everyone, criminal and law enforcement, including Cooper, Aram and Ressler, every time he and Liz enter a room.

I mean look how content and calm he looks, this man who compared himself to a hideous fish lost in complete darkness, standing there, illuminated by the light while holding the woman safely in his arms around whom his world revolves…

That is love. And nothing else matters.
