At the junction of Adelaide Street and Alfred Street stood the Blackpool Grammar School which existed as a school from 1893.
By 1920 it became the Comrades of the Great War Club (later just The Comrades Club) which lasted until 2014 when it went into administration.
It suffered a devastating and completely not suspicious fire in July 2017 after failing to find a buyer. It had to be demolished due to the damage it suffered.

In what was originally a bowling green, The Great Wheel was built on this site in the late 1890's until its eventual demise in 1928.

The former school building on Tydesley Road, South Shore, near Foxhall Square, in 1934.
It was converted into the Employment Exchange in 1927 and was later demolished and rebuilt in the 1990's to make way for a modern Job Centre building. It has sat empty since 2018 with talks ongoing about converting it into an apartment block.

With the platforms & tracks removed the area was redeveloped with the addition of the towns main police station and courtrooms, the station survived as a Bingo hall for a few years until it was demolished to make way for the Coral Island amusement centre which opened in the late 1970's.
The area is once again under redevelopment.
The court & police buildings have all been demolished with a new purpose-built police headquarters located off Clifton Street and new court buildings are earmarked to be built on the site of the former Devonshire Road hospital.
