Something that will never not be funny is the differences in the relationships between downworld and clave at the NY Institute vs the LA institute
In LA they’re bffs with the head warlock and have him over for dinner. In NYC they have zero contact with their head warlock and happen to meet when they crash his party
In LA theres this distance from the mundanes, they have their own private section of the beach and lonely giant manor. In NYC you leave the institute and step out onto the streets.
The LA shadowhunters train (i know emma and julian are ridiculously busy with lying and proving themselves, but the others) and stay near the house, unless they’re on missions. The NYC shadowhunters are in the institute a lot, but they seem to spend a lot of time partying and going out for the sake of going out.
The LA shadowhunters stick to themselves, they only see downworlders for murder investigations. The NYC shadowhunters almost exclusively only have relationships with downworlders (jace and clary are the exception)
I have no idea what the standard for the modern clave/downworld relationship is supposed to be. I can’t tell if this is a character thing, with Julian and Emma being consumed by other things while Izzy, Jace are both rebellious and crave independence; or if its a time thing, with Julian and Emma growing up during the Cold Peace, while the Lightwoods grew up in a time of relative peace; or what, but i think its hilarious.
Thats the real reason Diana keeps disappearing in Lady Midnight! She’s out clubbing.
