Watching a couple unceremoniously break up in the middle of town, Marie was suddenly torn between reminding them that arguing in public was not adhering to any form of civility and wanting to run over and somehow magically fix everything. Before she could decide how she wanted to proceed, one half of the couple had stormed away taking the choice away from her. Sighing softly, she finally noticed someone else who had apparently witnessed the whole situation. “Do you… Think I should get them chocolate cake or something? They could use some cheering up, who has a full out argument in the middle of town? It seems far too awkward when everyone around, can clearly see how distraught you are.” 

a couple’s drama wasn’t something you saw every day, and shiloh felt like a stalker as she gawked at the two’s very public split. she hadn’t even noticed someone else near her until a voice perked up. “i think that sounds lovely.” she hummed. “they’ve probably been having a bad day. though i’d go with a vanilla cake. if they’re allergic to chocolate it’ll make a bad day worse.”

     JIM SHOULD HAVE known the benbow inn would be crowded this afternoon. it was the weekend after all, and he heard his mother complain about how busy it was every single saturday ( or sunday, which was more likely, considering she usually worked ‘till well into the early hours ). but that didn’t stop him from taking a seat at one of the tables in a corner in the back – old notebook in front of him filled with useless scrabbles, designs and doodles. he has just gotten on his break, and he wasn’t exactly hungry; the only thing he craved was to get the countless orders out of his mind in order to start afresh in an hour. however, he didn’t realise people ( paying customers, in fact ) may have wanted the seat he was currently occupying… 

      SHILOH WAS NOT one for direct confrontation which is why, when she attempted to escape to a back table just to try and find a quieter spot, she stopped right on her tracks when she noticed someone else sitting on what seemed like the only table with any seats left. she approached cautiously, gently clearing her throat to get the other’s attention. “ excuse me, but can i... sit here ? there’s just... nowhere else. ” her voice trailed off.

Getting foreign liquids in my eyes is one of the things I’m actually good at avoiding, given the whole ‘goggles over glasses’ style I sorta got going on in the lab.” She hummed in thought, “if only there was something I could use to help differentiate all the cups and beakers in my apartment… Like an adorable cup cozy or a reflector tape!” 

“that’s good at least. do you have a lot of goggles? i’d be so afraid of losing one pair i’d probably have hundreds thrown about.” shiloh nodded at honey’s idea. “you could make something, maybe? add your own flair and mark your cups and beakers so you know which is which all in one.”

       “ OH MY LORD – “, charlotte let out in a dreamy, moan-like voice as she closed her eyes and let her head roll back. “ these are pure h e a v e n ! i have eaten them a zillion times, yet it still amazes me just how delicious they are. “, the blonde continued once she opened her eyes again, looking over at the person who was sitting near her. “ have you ever tried these beignets ? i swear tiana makes the best ones. they are my favorite desert, gosh, you cannot n o t love them, ya know what i’m saying ? “, she asked, narrowing her eyes a little as if she were addressing an actually important or deep matter. 

      a tiny laugh escapes shiloh as she watches the other enjoy her beignets. “ i can’t say i’ve ever had them, actually. come to think of it, i don’t think i’ve ever had beignets in general. ” she gave her a bemused look. “ although judging by your reaction to them it’s hard not to believe you. ”

ₒ°❀ — WRITING parking tickets… it was one of nick’s least favorite parts of his job, just because the task was so repetitive, and though he wouldn’t really admit it, he didn’t really like not having a partner on the job. looking at his watch, a sigh escaped nick’s lips. just two more hours to go and he’d be able to go home. he continued his stroll through new san fransokyo, as he found another vehicle that wasn’t parked validly. immediately starting to write down the vehicle’s plate. seconds later, someone was walking towards him, which meant he’d have to confront them. as if writing tickets wasn’t worse enough… nick calmly slipped on his aviator sunglasses. now was the moment to imitate the cops that used to confront him back when he was a reckless teenager. “ excuse me, are you the owner of this vehicle ? ” nick asked them with a firm voice as they approached close enough, to make sure he wasn’t talking to the wrong person.

      BEING out and about freely was still something shiloh was getting used to, driving and parking being added onto that. getting in any kind of trouble wasn’t so new, but before it mostly wasn’t her fault. now, though, she saw the cop circling her car and dread filled her body. the walk towards the vehicle was nothing other then a walk of shame. “ um. ” she shrunk into herself, nodding, embarrassment flushing her cheeks. “ is it- i’m sorry, i’ll pay for the ticket, you don’t have to, um. i mean, you do have to do your job, i wasn’t saying you shouldn’t, but.. ”

“You should be.“ Taff’s voice a mix of anger and sorrow about the loss of her ice cream. This girl was lucky she had offered to buy her another one or she would have just fully snapped. “Yes that would be ideal.“ Her sad little eyes now moving to the melted ice cream on the floor. What a wast. 

“i’m really sorry. i should’ve seen where i was going.” shiloh shuffled a bit, reaching into her bag for her wallet. “what, um, what flavor was it?” she pointed to the mess of sugar left behind and cringed. “h-hey, bright side? free ice cream!”

Taff had just gotten her favorite kind of ice cream from Pizza Planet which surprisingly also had pretty good deserts. She was on her way to the arcade when she felt someone bump against her should making her drop her ice cream. The blonde took a deep breath stoping her self from screaming or even worse crying. “Are you fucking kidding me?“ Snapping looking over at the person she bumped into. 

shiloh had been scrolling through her phone on what she thought was an empty path until she felt her body slam onto someone else’s. immediately, she put her phone down, wide eyes staring at the other. “oh, i’m-- sorry.” her voice lowered to barely a whisper. “i- was that yours? i can get you another one.”

the last thing she expected while walking around was for a dog to come rushing over, but animals did always have an affinity for her. shiloh offered the pup’s owner an apologetic look before bending down to pet the tiny dog. “it’s all right. he’s just curious, aren’t you, little thing?” she smiled brightly at the animal. “what’s his name?”

“i think the acid solution is just a little worse.” shiloh’s soft voice rang out, turning to the one who’d started the conversation with a smile. “at least you’re less likely to die drinking paint water. but then, i don’t know much of either, so my advice might not be that great. same with a little paint in your eye versus... well, chemicals.”
