His gaze turned over at the individual, acknowledgement towards them in his nod, along with his brow that quirked up. The unfamiliar face had Blake wondering with prompt curiosity. Even if he has been gone for for another four years, he would recognize a face like theirs. Though, a lot's happened since he's been gone, he's realized.
"Can I help you?" he asked them.

The blonde kept an innocent look in the argument with the other man; it was one she had all too much practice holding. The man’s name was something along the lines of Jeff, maybe Jet- his friend’s southern accents were too thick for her to tell. With three balls left to sink in their fourth game, Jeff had accused Lela of cheating. Of course she was cheating, but to be called on it was infuriating. As her temper rose it became increasingly harder to maintain her false innocence, though she hang onto the facade with all her might.
“You still haven’t explained to me exactly how it’s possible to cheat at pool. I mean, honestly. If you can’t even tell me that do you honestly think I’m capable of cheating?” Jeff’s face was the color of a ripe tomato by the time she finished that sentence. She hadn’t used much of a filter, she kind of liked seeing seeing the smoke rush out of men’s ears when she questioned their intelligence.
What she had not expected was just how angry a man like Jeff could become due to a valid argument. His “southern values” clearly prevented him from hitting a girl, despite the balling and un-balling of his fists. They did not, however, stop him from giving her a firm shove. Had she not been anticipating the wrath of Jeff would have likely brought her to the ground. Lela could no longer contain her anger, and sent a punch directly at his jaw. It was a technique she had learned from her father, one her grandfather had continued using after his days in the marines.
Jeff stumbled back, clearly surprised by the force such a petite-looking girl could muster. The bar tender straightened up behind the counter, clearly dreading breaking up another fight. Jeff spared him from that as he motioned for his friends to leave. After they were gone, the blonde leaned against the pool table and let out a huff of air. She had gotten the fight she wanted as well as the cash she needed. Of course it was stashed in her bra, the safest place from wandering hands, so she didn’t dare pull it out to start counting it now.
The shove at the girl is what had him then standing up in no time. His drink was immediately neglected and he knew that it would only taking a few rounding strides to just let his fist meet with the sucker’s jaw. Though, one big step came and she was already doing that very job for him.
He froze in his own tracks. He blinked, surprised at the unexpected feedback towards the man. It had caught everyone around the girl off guard, including him -- especially him. Even if he did have his experience meeting women who definitely knew self defense back at home base, he never really figured any girl would mimic the same in this quiet town. An amused smile then decided to lightly quirk in the corner of his mouth, the sight of him and his friends leaving having him become sort of proud of the blonde.
When they were gone, his eyes met right back with her, that smirk slightly lingering fondly on his lips. He glanced right over at the bartender who decided to mind his own business by now. "Hey..." he murmured, getting his attention, pulling out an estimated amount of money to pay for his barely touched drink. He smacked it down on the counter and flashed him a smile in thanks before he was beginning to head off.
His steps were slow and patient, as if they were almost careful. For some reason, he felt the need to put up a pair of gently defensive hands for his sake once he was encountering her. It was sign that went with humor, but mostly told her he was just making conversation. "Nice right hook," he commented, dropping his hands to his sides.

He kept his eyes down at the foam that lingered on top of his brewed beer. Normally, Blake would drink it right out of the bottle. Though, it's been a while since he's been to this town's bar and he guessed that they decided to change up a few things since he's been gone. Something about economy and going green? Blake doesn't remember that much; all he was intended upon was getting a drink or two.
It almost seemed like everything was too quiet, the only sound in earshot being the old jukebox softly playing Led Zeppelin in the background. His hearing slowly steered into a high-pitched ringing sound from the atmosphere, one he didn't seem to mind. After getting bombs blown up and gunshots going off right next to your ear, you seem to get used to the ringing sound after the second time.
It was nothing but one sound that snapped him out of his near trance, glancing up at the sound of billiard balls clacking against each other. It was familiar sound to him, remembering all the times he attempted to teach his little brother how to play pool. His sight was immediately set on a blonde, one that was holding a cue. He didn't seem to want to avert his eyes as her hair and eyes seemed too alluring to him. It was always a nice to watch a girl play a game like that. And to his assumption, she didn't look like some bimbo that nearly exposed her breasts to get some help. With him sticking to her like glue, it didn't take Blake, not even moments, to realize that there was a slight argument going on just after. Between the nameless girl and a gruff-looking man, he was nearly on his feet with protective wariness in his eyes.
