Ya’ll this was a crazy but amazing experience! For this shoot I didn’t only play the photographer role but actually did this floral arch! Of course I had help from my amazing and talented friend @traveling_weddings_with_taylor! Arch structure and tools were provided by @thepetalexchange and bouquet & flowers by @eventstemsfloral . It takes a village! _ This was for sure our labor of love. We were working against sunlight and with what we had. 👊🏼💪🏼 _ Have y’all ever dug a hole with your bare hands?! Hola! Who’s that?! ME! The girl behind the camera bossing people around telling them how to stand and pose 😂 _ Anyone feel awkward in front of the camera? Well guess what? ME TOO! So don’t feel bad! I know all the posing tricks and photog is my bread 🍞 & butter🧈, but it still happens to me! _ It takes several shots for me to warm up. Even then I’ll still feel self conscious. Ideally I’d love to be a lot thinner, taller, and toned. But guess what? I’m not and that’s OKAY! _ Life is short and one of the most valuable lessons life has taught me is to be grateful for today, for me, and most importantly to be alive! _ So on that note, want a good tip for your upcoming session? _ Get in front of a full body mirror and practice! Look at what poses you like and what angles you like best. Poses like sitting, standing, facing the mirror, looking away, etc. It’s a great way to get to know yourself and your body❤️ Learn to be comfortable in your own skin! Elegant Red on a White Canvas

Now days almost everyone runs from color! But I absolutely hands down love every bit of it. I’d hate to assume but my guess is that most people don’t utilize it for being afraid of it. Yes it can be tricky to photograph someone in a red shirt in plain sunlight but it can be done when you have all the right elements.

This shoot was a difficult one. A lot of work went into the shoot but it was worth it. Both models were amazing! The red dress was actually made by me, on the spot! I forgot the other gown at home and whipped this one up with a piece of fabric that was originally supposed to be a table cloth and some safety pins!

Everything was beautiful and balanced out just perfect. While I didn’t get to have my tablecloth as originally planned it was well worth it. The gown even flowed in a way I never imagined! Gown of my dreams. If there was something Id add, it would be more of a cape and a tad bit more fitted. But there’s only so much you can do with safety pins!

So back to the shoot! I had a white canvas! I could dream up all the combinations possible. So I did RED. Yes, such a feminine and bold color. I see a woman wear red and I see a strong, confident, and decisive woman. But with this shoot I wanted the opposite. I wanted red, but I also wanted delicacy, fragile, and somewhat innocent look. I knew I had to have a model with strong yet soft features, dark hair for sure (so the black could balance out with the red), a model who could give me the innocent vibe to the shoot. She couldn’t have been more perfect!
