Could not help myself after spending a few days listening to TFTOR at work. Gonna be honest Steamie is my favorite- just had to draw him. (And also put him in tomodachi life lol)
memes are fun and relatable and all that, but don't let them discourage you. all of that stuff that doesn't make it into the final product is part of how the final product gets made
I just realized I never posted any of my art of DayDreamer omg. Well, hereâs the one I just did and underneath are all my older drawings of her
Dreamer is an omniscient (they are a representative of me & my knowledge of the worlds I am writing about) shapeshifter whose body is essentially composed of tons of independently controlled cells that are invulnerable and can change their hardness/viscosity at will. Between all his cells are veins of life energy that are vulnerable and if punctured will leak until he grows weaker and unstable and can no longer keep their form consistent. Its main 5 eyes are also formed from the life energy and are a bigger target than the veins.
Oh noooooo đ Ok I typed this all up once before but then tumblr reloaded and deleted it all. So im typing it all again for you. But as I was gonna say! I talk about most of my de Blob stuff over on @inkt-corp so youâll find more of my Dr Fret rambles over there every now and then. But since you asked Iâll give you a rundown! Or well- maybe more of an infodump because I cannot help myself
Infodump below the cut! Be warned that is is a heavily angsty story with themes of Body Horror and forced mutilation/experimentation
So. If you know anything about de Blob, then Dr Fretâs AU is a more ârealisticâ version of the events. The First Invasion (dB1) took place over several years, and the Color Underground freedom fighters had a lot more of a constant uphill struggle to reclaim Raydia once more. Chroma Islands had a lot more devastation to them, being the main headquarters of INKT, but the rest of Raydia had a bit of damage as well as INKT soldiers continued to spread across the continents. It was also a lot more dangerous, but in the way that there were lots of biological effects on the Raydians. Ink Poisoning was a very real and deadly disease that was caused by prolonged exposure to ink, and any Graydians had a chance to develop a Color Deficiency by being overharvested for their color energy.
This is where Dr Fretâs story comes into play. They grew up in the middle of the First Invasion and their entire community was heavily affected by ink poisoning and other INKT damage. Fretâs whole family had passed away from both the poison and the Color Deficiency from being in Graydian facilities. All except for Fretâs aunt who had managed to hide them when the INKT soldiers came to put them into Gradian suits. But their aunt began to develop Ink Poisoning after the Invasion ended from the rebuilding efforts. Because even though Blob restored more Color Sources and activated numerous Transformation Engines, it took time to reach every part of Raydia that was affected.
Fretâs childhood led them to become a doctor. They would study Raydian biology and the effects of ink on the flora and fauna of their planet in hopes of discovering a way to treat Ink Poisoning more effectively. They had gotten whatever Raydian degrees are out there or whatever by the time Comrade Black had begun his preparations for the Second Invasion (dB2). CB had stayed hidden for a good while after he arrived on the Prisma Peninsula, and he slowly began to call in covert reinforcements before he made his reveal as Papa Blanc. But one other thing he wanted was a way to turn the Raydians against themselves, because obviously the only reason that INKT was overthrown was because the Raydians were great in numbers. So in comes Dr von Blot, the mutant inky scientist from dB2 DS who CB had managed to recover from his explosive exit from Chroma City, as well as reclaiming most of his research. Blot had come up with the brilliant idea to get the Raydians to do the research themselves. After all, INKT never bothered to record or study how the puny Raydians worked before, and no one better to understand them than the Raydian scientists themselves!
Dr von Blot sets up a Science Convention, dedicated to sharing research and theories on the effects of ink on Raydians, drawing in specialists from all over Raydia. Dr Fret is included in this group, eager to finally have someone to share their ideas with and be able to make a breakthrough in medical research. But of course, it was all a front. Once all the scientists and doctors had arrived, INKT locked down the lab building and took them hostage. Blot then presented them with an ultimatum: he would provide them with all of his resources and studies on Mutant Ink, allowing them to learn and understand everything about its effects. All they needed to do was to provide him with a serum, a mutant ink that would work on Raydians and turn them into color-hating weapons. However, every day that they failed to provide results, INKT would pick one of them to kill off in front of everyone.
Of course, Raydians are known for their resilience and sense of freedom. All of the attendees had refused and instead planned ways to overtake their captors and escape. None of these plans ended up working, and by the time a week had passed, they realized that as much as they hated it, they needed to create this horrible thing to survive. Except, not all of the attendees actually did end up fighting back. Dr Fret had dove head-first into the ink research the moment they were let loose in the labs. They hated the idea too, but it didnât matter to them. Right in front of them all was exactly what they came here for: the studies about ink! They decided to dedicate themself to learning everything possible that there was to learn before they left. But this did not look very good on them, the others would remember how Fret would simply read and experiment the whole time that they were fighting for their lives to escape, completely ignoring their efforts. Whispers of disloyalty and betrayal to their species echoed from disgusted and angry faces whenever anyone walked by Dr Fret. But they all reluctantly accepted that they needed to work together to get this done.
And thatâs what they did! By the time they had completed the formula, there were inly a handful of scientists left out of all that had attended the false convention. But they had finally completed the serum, the ink did exactly what was requested of them: the raydianâs paint would turn a dark inky shade extremely sensitive to light. Their skin would harden and turn to sharpened teeth, claws, and spikes. When exposed of large amounts of color energy they would fly into a painful rampage, attacking at anything near that was colorful. As required, when their body was concealed from the agitating light, they would still have their full mental capacity and memories. And most importantly of all, it was permanent.
As you may have wondered, the only Raydians in sight are the scientists, who are they testing this on? Well thatâs your answer right there, they had to test it on each other. Picking a candidate to be mutilated and transformed by something they werenât even sure would work and waiting to see if they would start brutalizing anyone in their path the moment they gained their senses. Most times, the feral subjects had to be put down by Inky guards that were on standby. And that was the case for the finished product as well. They had them transform in the dark, watching their fellow Raydian change into something unnatural, before turning on the lights when they confirmed their mental status. Their colleague went feral, rabidly attacking at anyone near with sharpened black claws of tainted paint. It took a few different Inkies to take them down.
Now it was presentation time. The remaining scientists would finally go free after they revealed their success to the audience of Dr von Blot and Comrade Black. Recalling the tensions between everyone and Dr Fret, I think you can understand who exactly they chose to be the final test subject. They presented their research to Blot, showed him their tools and the completed serum. Then three different Raydians jumped Dr Fret, pinning them down before ejecting them with the serum and cursing them for their cruelty and âbetrayal.â And with the lights off, they began to change. Bones shifting, paint thickening, their entire body undergoing a metamorphosis in front of those they trusted and those they despised. When the transformation was complete, Blot began to conduct his tests to determine if they really were sane and knowledgeable. He asked them if they knew exactly how the serum was made, what the research concluded, and had them recite everything they knew. Ofc Dr Fret was 1000% dissociating during this after going through the worst physical and mental pain of their life, so they were answering on autopilot and not knowing what exactly was happening.
Now if you see where this is going- Dr von Blot confirmed that Dr Fret knew everything that was needed to make Blancs, and he also had a bit of a [non aversion] to Fret after seeing them throw themselves so fully into the research. They also had personally asked him many questions about his research when he came to check up on the project. So now with a fully changed Blanc who could never return to being a Raydian and was fully under INKT control while knowing everything about the project- Blot had the lights turned on. And when the blinding rapture enveloped Dr Fret, they felt themself set alight, a burning desire to eradicate the pain by tearing apart the source. And all the Inkies in the room simply sat back and watched smugly while the Rampaging Fret ripped apart every single one of their fellow doctors.
So thats how Dr Fret got turned into a Blanc!! :D After that whole deal, CB set them up in INKTâs underground headquarters working with Dr von Blot in the INKT labs making Blancs together.
Im tired right now and thats pretty much half the story so Iâll finish the other half later I think. Enjoy the angst and body horror!! :D
ok if you are actually interested in the de Blob series Iâll go insane. Yes! Both main titles are on Xbox 360, that actually where I played them. Thereâs de Blob 1 and de Blob 2 (both amazing and dB2 is even more amazing somehow) and a DS game called de Blob 2 as well but it takes place between the two main games and features Dr von Blot as the main enemy.
