That said I do recognize the art here and I love this lil annual story! Even though seeing the illustration again made me realize that yeah, it would actually be kind of terrifying to swing open a shed door only to see this GIANT human-esque face grinning oh-so deviously at you! x'D Especially in the dead of night!! But don't worry guys, I think the twins just wanted to play with those thieves! Or so they'll tell their drivers the next morning, anyway... Low-key playing around with the idea of a recently-rebuilt, modern-day Smudger being confronted with the fact that his name and his story has evolved over countless re-tellings, to the point where it could almost be compared to martyrdom. Something that represents the ruthless and often cutthroat punishments dealt out to engines should they fall out of line. But, man. It’s kind of hard to deal with being a martyr when you’ve repressed so much of what made you into that in the first place. It’s chill, someone will fill him in.

Sooo...'Tobias and the Arcane Merchant'..

I'm in the same boat as those that say that it's one of - if not *the* - best 'Thomas' fan-films put out there. I've watched it several times, and I can't get enough of the main bad guy. Tobias is so monstrous and sadistic, and, since I have a liking for good villains, it makes me want to see more of him.

Makes me want to think of him as this terrible entity that resides in the back of Toby's mind, and is the reason behind his cautious and cowardly behavior in the TV show.
