First off, I would like to say that I’ve been a HUGE fan of Bolin during season 1 & 2 but after tonight’s episode, I am no longer a fan.
Despite what people think, what he did to Ginger was completely unacceptable, I’m disgusted and appalled from the writers of this show, to think that a man force kissing a woman who is tied up, as something fucking funny.
Kissing itself is a form of pleasure that two people give each other when they love each other. If a girl doesn’t want to please you, even if you don’t think it would be harmful, you can’t force her to give you a kiss. If you do it forcefully, you are using her for your sexual desire without her consent, which should be considered as a form of rape.
Ginger should have the right for her body to be respected. She did not instruct for Bolin in ANY way to kiss her.
Yet somehow this act felt “right” to Bolin, like it’s something comedic to do, I mean really? fucking really?
If it felt “right” for him to forcibly kiss her and if he isn’t penalized for it then where would it end? Soon a kiss won’t be enough, and the person will want more. But I’m sure that’s funny too, of another man raping a woman against her will
Bryan and the people who wrote this scene, need to apologize for this and remove it, I don’t care if people disagree, what Bolin did was a form of rape and to promote it to young children, especially boys is dangerous. I’m truly sickened from this right now.
I think it's supposed to be a lesson. The show made it completely clear that that was not ok, that bolin made a glaring mistake. This is the first time Ginger has ever shown any personality, and it's clear that she is a very complex character. Compared to cartoons from five years ago this is a rich gender scene. Maybe in the next couple episodes Ginger is exposed as an ambitious assertive woman who is capable but gets a soft spot for Bolin and teaches him a lesson. Even if not, the topic of being confused by complex social signals and perspective taking is central to the topic of rape and this scene negotiates it well, while avoiding being preachy from my perspective. I wish Verric wouldn't have backed down after critiquing him though
