The main gal goes by Arlo, the name gifted to her at birth is a secret only revealed at friendship level 10. She was accused of murder and largely follows the intro missions of red dead onlines plot and after those finish up decides well. Yk I might as well be a criminal now, I've got nothing better to do!
She was born and raised in Ewing Basin, leaving it at the same time as its abandonment due to the storm/avalanche. There was also other stuff going on that led to her losing contact with everyone from that town, including her two surviving siblings, mother and best friend.
She largely is alone, not really seeing a point in connecting to other people. She's very picky about the people she wants around and moves around constantly, making it hard to maintain connections. She misses her mama and siblings a lot, and often draws little sketches of them in a little journal so she won't forget their faces.
She prefers to try and find abandoned places, officially to scavenge but really she just likes exploring and seeing if she can figure out why its abandoned.
Gertrude is also from Ewing Basin, and is the daughter of the preacher. She grew up as his only child after her mother passed during childbirth and spent a lot of time with arlos family, as they offered to watch her for the preacher when needed.
Gertrude grew up entrenched in the word and concept of god, but lost her faith after seeing the devastating caused to Ewing Basin, having stated that she knew the word of god well enough to know he died in those snowy peaks. Despite this she actually protects an image of the opposite, gathering people devastated by the loss of their home and leading them to form a small group, creating her own version of the religion she no longer believed in. She found pretending to believe and using that to toy with people worked very well and used her lack of faith to twist her word to whatever suited who she was speaking too.
She purposely dresses angelically, trying to appear innocent and trustworthy. Largely its incredible effective, and assists her in her goal of essentially surrounding herself with people, desperately avoiding losing anyone else
Despite that she isn't attached to her followers in any emotional capacity, and finds herself faking almost every instance of empathy or connection she expresses. Its a well crafted mask she's perfected.
