stupid, utterly stupid. her eyes hold to his, though a second long glance towards where blade is out of reach. she might have had a small chance in that moment. nymeria has never taken a life. not even one that has been condemned to immortality. her first attempt, and here she stands as a mouse who has finally been caught. vincent is so close, and heart beat betrays her. it is wild, sharp. she knows he can hear it, which only makes things grow worse.
she has given into fear, nymeria is at his mercy ( if even held any ). she had played the role of gentle lamb with so much faith. she had been that once, obedient to the teachings her mother spent every hour instructing her. every move she makes, he can make faster. there is no way out from where she has placed herself. between wall and monster ( but he wasn't one at all, only gentle kindness shown to her ). he was nothing like what she had been warned of, what her entire life had been devoted to. he speaks, breath on her throat. it terrifies her, but something like desire rests beneath the fear. nymeria despises herself for it, for the way he has made home in her heart.
❝ at first, yes. ❞ the truth falls from her lips, something whispered and unproud of. he had changed everything. ❝ but then i met you. and now here i stand, foolishly. ❞ dying this way, would it hurt ? she would much rather accept it, then going home as a failure. ❝ you should. i came to you as a friend, while holding blade behind my back the entire time. ❞ she had betrayed him, lured him exactly where she wanted. and in the moment, nymeria could not. she disguised it as fear, not as feelings that bloom within her, taking root and loss of sense.
❝ one last request ? in truth, i have no right in asking anything from you. ❞ her words ramble on. no intention to escape, to distract. ❝ if you do plan to kill me, i ask that you do it quickly. i'd rather not have a drawn out death. ❞
