veronica s4 teetering on the same loner kid angry at the world behavior she had in season 1 with the bonus add on of hating high school and being a bitch
i rough drafted an npc/oc for veronica for this season named elsie ‘z’ lehmann forever ago who owns a newly opened record store downtown (cheap retail space!!) called hawkins inferno. she’s v madonna v edgy v iona pretty in pink and she’s kind of like a Comfort spot for veronica who feels very isolated and alone with mike being very focused on eddie / hfc and max withdrawing
veronica s4 teetering on the same loner kid angry at the world behavior she had in season 1 with the bonus add on of hating high school and being a bitch
lucas’ storyline is alright but for veronica & jane i do not find the vast majority of s4 to be. remotely any good to work with so where i’ve tried to maintain a pretty close to source stance (especially on veronica) s4 is definitely going to be a huge departure from what we got this season.
that season was hot garbage
-` ♡ ( @clearvoir ) i’m just gonna let it get infected and die
abra carried static the way most people carried conversation. the whole blank void of bedroom air was brimming with it , & goosebumps riddled veronica’s bare skin . the two sit with outstretched legs , their mutual attention pooled on the livid , velveteen of scraped knee ( the brunt of it petaled out & flaking near the edges , its trail beneath carrying left over gravel like thorns ) . damp washcloth soaked through veronica’s own , untarnished joint while she hesitated to smear away the grisly floret. ❛❛ falling in a driveway’s a pretty lame - o way to, uh, hand in your checks, mcgee. ❜❜ cloth is transferred , but left unmoved. ❛❛ you do it. blood’s probably a bitch to get out from under french tips. ❜❜
-` ♡ ( @fyirbular ) yeah, well, it was serious earlier, and you didn’t give a shit !
sunlight sparks off the aluminum body of discarded huffy & veronica’s stomach churns in adolescent frustration with the dying turn of lifted wheel . DIDN’T GIVE A SHIT ! like he knew a dime’s worth what she gave a shit about ! like he or his stuck up buddy mike cared about what she had to say on any of it ! ❛❛ you don’t even know what you’re talking about ! ❜❜ the suburban tranquility around them is smothering & impersonal . loch nora sailed on , dead & still & daily , while the dyad bickering on sawyer lawn played atlas with the sky . ❛❛ that’s the whole problem with you guys ! ❜❜ vitriolic words are pointed & marked off with each irate step closing the gap between rogue & ranger . ❛❛ you guys are playing with dice & riding around the cul - de - sac on your stupid schwinn’s — ❜❜ rubber sole of mary jane skips against metal frame. ❛❛ you’re the ones not taking it seriously. ❜❜
Fear Street: 1978 Starters !
Taken from the 2021 Netflix movie, Fear Street: 1978! Some of these have already been edited. You can change them however you see fit! There may be some light spoilers for the movie!
“You’re an impatient bastard, aren’t you?”
“Look, I can’t just run! I can’t let them die. I won’t. I love them.”
“They’re tied up in the bathroom, so they can’t leave now. We’re like totally and completely cool.”
“I’m out? They just tried to murder me!”
“I’m just gonna let it get infected and die.”
“That stuff’s been there forever, babe. You just gotta give that up.”
“Hey, careful. You don’t want to corrupt her virgin ears.”
“Drugs, baby, drugs. Just hook us up.”
(Name), hello? I’m in trouble again! Help.”
“(Name), come on. I could die any minute now.”
“People usually kill for a reason, and sometimes that reason is justified. Sometimes killing isn’t murder.”
“Once in your life, could you just not be so… so mean?”
“For once in your life, can you just stop pretending?”
“One way or another, you’re gonna die tonight.”
“The kiddos are right. That’s, like, total witchy behavior.”
“He might be dumb, but he’s kinda shagadelic.”
“Yeah, well, it was serious earlier, and you didn’t give a shit!”
“What? That doesn’t fit your carefully constructed bullshit view of the world?”
“It’s not horrible if it’s true.”
“So, the camp was built on the same place as the settlement?”
“It’s called fun, (Name). You used to have it, remember?”
“Clearly, you don’t need my assistance. All good. Go ahead.”
“You want me to murder you?”
“Am I the only one expecting, like, I dunno, a house made out of candy?”
“Hey, (Name), you got any candy down there? We’re high and hungry.”
“It just hit me. It’s fucking Tylenol. It’s nothing.”
“He can’t… He can’t get us. He can’t get us.”
“We could have done it in your bunk, but I guess this is kind of hot.”
“Well, tough shit. We’re gonna die down here.”
“Jesus, what the hell? I told you not to follow me!”
“I’ve hated her since I was a baby. Next question.”
“First of all, Stephen King is, like, super popular.”
“If you have to kill him… Could you?”
“I’m not letting you get hurt! Please, let me do my job.”
“You tell anyone about this, and you’re dead. You hear me?”
“I told myself that if I was perfect if I did everything right, I could beat it.”
“I hate to break it to you, but the fun isn’t any more real.”
“I thought that if I just put my head down, and followed the rules, everything would be fine.”
“Okay, careful. Okay? This thing is, like, a million years old.”
“I’ve waited my whole fucking life for this. And now I found it. Let me see this through.”
“Nothing can pull us apart.”
“And most days… I wish I stayed dead.”
“(Name) sacrificed herself for nothing.”
“Your best chance is to run from this place. Go as far as you can and hope a bus doesn’t hit you on the way out.”
Calia Read, Unravel
GAMINE gam·ine/ɡaˈmēn/ noun 1.a girl with a mischievous, boyish charm.
veronica is awarded a level of universal appeal that many female characters, especially teenage girls in high school set films, tend not to receive. she walks a fine line of being a very feminine, very uptown suburban girl with all of the dressings. she’s lip gloss and couture, boy talk and mean girl politics; all things that get female leads written off more often than not. however, beneath that, veronica reads more like the brooding coming of age male leads ( i.e. holden caulfield, bill denbrough, tom sawyer, mike wheeler ). she’s petulant, empowered, and manages to come across as an every-man despite being unattainably bright, beautiful, and charming. she’s tom sawyer in veronica lodge packaging.
“our heroine is named veronica sawyer, not betty finn - she’s not the chaste good girl from the archie comics, betty cooper, and she’s not huck finn. she’s the black-haired temptress, veronica lodge, merged with the insouciant prankster, tom sawyer. the insouciant prankster who lacks a real moral compass, and not the noble, fighting-against-all-the-odds finn [ … ]. because, simply put, finn is better for you than sawyer.”
she’s far from the typical ‘tomboy’, yet she retains the rowdiness, the action readiness, and the crassness that comes with the term. her femininity doesn’t threaten the relatability of her more roguish traits and allows her to walk that line. veronica, above everything else, has a certain typically boyhood - tied mischief about her. in fact, veronica leans far more heavily into her latter namesake. other than appearance, what does she have in common with archie’s veronica? her and tom share a knack for pranks (though the ones we see her play in the film aren’t exactly palatable to our lead), her moral compass is wobbly at best, yet both are incredibly well received by their communities. they both learn to take responsibility, they both strive to do something good. heathers plays on gender expectations a lot. the shoulder pads the main girls wear get bigger with more influence, veronica is drenched head to toe in blue, she accessorizes with a monocle. the visual cues are there in a realm of their own but the real play along is with veronica’s characterization. where we anticipate feminine austerity and subtlety, she’s crude and blunt. her irritation is worn on her sleeve. there’s a level of openness and unapologetic leanings that’s childlike and endearing despite the gravity of her actions. these are all traits that are usually disliked in girls but admired in boys. high school politics are female-run but she has no real hand in the game. there’s no interest on her part to participate in the underhanded, passive-aggressive rules of ‘girl world’. this, obviously, is not inherently masculine but given the context of both the film and time period, it is important to note for this topic. much of who veronica is can only really be seen the gray between the blacks and whites of her massively contrasting self. the boyish nature of her personality, the outright girlishness of her presentation. her old soul vs. her glaring naivety. veronica is a character built on uncertainty.
