hi this year is my first year going to blue lake and i have asthma. i was wondering if i can keep my inhaler with me or do i have to put it in the health lodge?
yeah, you should be able to keep it with you if it’s something you need to have read at all times!
wow u guys hadn’t posted in forever and then u did and I literally fell asleep last night going through like. The whole blog. I just got to the end this morning. The first time u happened to post in forever and it was my 21st birthday and like. Looking at all this blue lake stuff makes me miss it so much and also feel Really Old cuz this summer is gonna be 4 years (how????) since my last session! All I can say is thanks for the nostalgia trip

Blue lake has been on my mind a lot lately as well, I recently went to one of their recruitment tables at my college. I got a counselor application packet but I’m not sure if I’d rather take classes over the summer or work at blfac.

I gotchu BLFAC blog! The life of a musical theatre major is as follows: during your morning class period you have three classes: acting, vocals, and dance. In the afternoon you work on your production! Hope this helped

I really love blue lake, it's the best place in the world for me. I've noticed that in the past years I've been there all the girls units seem ridiculously strict. Are they all so strict compared to the boys units or am I just really unlucky? I'm kind of scared for this year.
Girl's units do tend to be a little more strict compared to the boy's units, but it honestly depends on the counselors and unit director. ive had super chill counselors and super strict ones, it varies I guess. Anyone else have any experiences in either direction?

It's on the blfac website somewhere, under like "staff" iirc. They make like. Some money. But when you divide it into an hourly wage... (like an 8 hour workday which is lowballing) It's something like less than minimum? Lmao
I always loved my counselors but after looking into what actually BEING one would be like I have like. Infinitely more respect than I ever imagined for anyone who's been a counselor. Despite how much I loved Blue Lake, I looked into being a counselor but I eventually decided that it just isn't quite for me, but mad love to all of you who do decide to do it. That's some hard work and you're doing some awesome stuff, you're gonna make so many people have an awesome summer. Thank you.

In regards to the allergy room: back in the old days of 2009-2013, you'd get your food with your cabin if you could eat that food, then eat in the allergy room with a counselor, if I remember correctly? I know the possibilty exists for you to eat in a separate place! (Or at least it did like five years ago when I last went)

I think for third or fourth session yeah, but depending on your major and it's availability you might get waitlisted or rejected. But it's worth a shot!
re: bringing shit not related to your major – i went to blfac as an art major but i brought my oboe because i'm a musician too. i didnt even have a music minor or anything. you get some downtime in which you can draw, play music, etc
not to be sassy but this one isn’t hard to get... you can bring a lot of stuff not related to your major
Housing
For the person asking about housing, it is not in the online portal and you will find it on the final letter. If you're really concerned about not having received it, call the office. It is always a possibility that the letters for your session have not been mailed out yet, but I'm not certain about that.
They have an allergy room? I just recently found out that I have celiac, so I can't eat gluten. I heard they have baked potatoes and gluten free toaster waffles, so that's a plus. Do you guys happen to know how the allergy room works? Like do you go there to get your food at the beginning of meals or do you wait for your cabin to get their food? Do you eat in the allergy room?

sure, you can bring all kinds of things. don’t know if you’ll ever utilize it for class though.

Hey friend I don't know if you're still active but I have a question about art majors. It's my third year as camp (and as an art major) however this year I forgot to send in my form with my class selection until about a week ago (I'm going to session 2). I was just curious if you knew how often people end up without their 1st choice?
aha reminds me of the time i sent in my choice card for second session while i was in first session.
anyways, if you picked a less popular class, you’ll probably get it. if i remember correctly warhol is the most popular choice? so unless you picked that you’ll likely get your first choice. but fret not, almost all of my friends just never sent in their preferences lol.
