Yes I had to start this post with no caps and an emoji so you know it's really me speaking and not "professional and yet completely out of their depth" Adrienne. Some stuff happened last week. Things were asked. I was away from social media. I am back. Let's talk about it.
The merch is colored lighter than it should. Why did that happen, and did you fix it?
For the why, itās Printing Stuff. (See my original statement after I spoke with the Yetee for more details!)Ā Because the lighter coloring appeared on the entire items, not just skin, we didnāt dig deeper into it, and that's on us. The Yetee and I are working on fixing it, and the changes will appear on the next round of restocks! But you know this.
Why did you block Ocean, who only made a post bringing up the issue?
Ok so my original answer just ended up being āmental healthā. Which was and still is true.
Over the last few months, Ocean (who asked to be named in this post) made some points on his Tumblr that I found hurtful, so I acted quickly and rashly in the moment. I regret the timing, and how this action deleted their post. (which, I didn't know it was gonna happen??? like legit. Tumblr this is a great feature for a lot of people im sure but you gotta tell me this shit) I honestly didnāt intend for the blocking to be public. I do want to stress this however: Ocean was never personally aggressive towards me. The block was purely from my own feelings on the issue, that are mine to deal with. I also want to say that any harassment Ocean has gotten was absolutely unwarranted and vile-- Do not do this. Not in my name. I've unblocked Ocean, and I will privately reach out to xem if xe agrees to it, to talk about how I regret everything that happened.
Saying āmental health reasonsā probably sounded a little reductive and easy-to-throw, but, I do want to remind you: I am only one person. I am slowly surrounding myself with a team (working part-time!) who can help me with things, but I remain the one person who is taking care of communicating with merch, talking with fans, managing a team, and also, making a game.Ā
Someone else mentioned the issue to me a little before the posts went live: I again mentioned it was because of printing etc, but as the first posts started rolling, I did make a note to handle that at some point. And then, the massacre
I am always so happy to see people relate to the game. A lot of different people relate to it in a lot of different ways, and I love hearing about those, especially if itās ways I never thought someone would see themselves in! But that doesnāt mean the game wasnāt, like, thought about. That I didnāt bring my own experiences into it. So when I see people say āwhy is the game about those themes, it should have been about this insteadā, Iād like you to remember that Iām mixed. Iām light skinned. Iām from the French Carribean. I'm also a lot of other things that quite honestly, as an audience, you do not necessarily get to know. You canāt remove those facts from the game. Theyāre there forever
What about the socials for Truth Scrapper, and how the Marketing Intern treats Amour and Betz differently? It's iffy.
Yeah it is. I did realize how Iffy this could seem a couple months ago, and was on the way to slowly fix it, via the intern going "well amour IS kinda cute..." in an organic way, until that part of it was gone completely. But well, this whole thing happened, so we'll just stop that ASAP instead!
Why didnāt you make this post before?
People are not lying: being canceled DOES make you go fight or flight. In an effort to not make this blow up, and to make sure people knew I was taking this seriously, my posts were probably more professional sounding than I usually am, which read as insincere I think.
Bottom line, Iām sorry. Overall, I did not handle this entire situation as well as I could have. After my posts I needed some time away and some support so I could get my thoughts in order and truly understand where I fucked up, and how to actually communicate all of this. Thank you for your patience as I got my words together, and I hope this gives you some insight as to what I was thinking/feeling.
