You.... you DO know those are Chipmunks right? Chipmunks can have long tails, they don't always have short tails.
Just gonna make this clear 100% this is not to be taken in any mean or rude way to respond. This is purely to point out my response with how in the event they continue saying "Chipmunks' when I say they're squirrels.
Yes I am aware of Chipmunks having long tails.
Naturally I live in an area where I don't see chipmunks a lot, mostly squirrels. They are very rare and hard to find so can only look it up on my computer.
Also like I've seen the live action Alvin and the Chipmunks too and they also had long tails too, but that's beside the point
It's the signature strips that Chipmunks are known for and also how semi bushy the tails are.
You can argue that yes, they have a stripe so they're chipmunks.
But Chipmunks have very, and I mean VERY distinct, bold stripes that the standard black and white running from their back to their tails.
Which... these two obviously lack
Even if the tail is "supposedly" how a chipmunk's tail is, a squirrel can also have a less bushy tail too. Often meaning they're young or juvenile (Given the event and how they're acting, fits them)
It is literally the lack of the signature black and white stripes that chipmunks are KNOWN for that makes me doubt and not see these lil guys as chipmunks. That is also pointed out in the event with how the diner is decorated.
Also, we have to remember that this event is themed after Chip and Dale, and they are prominantly featured as figures here
Also... they are also in their standard Disney design too.
Which we have to remember that Twisted Wonderland IS A DISNEY GAME.
They literally have Chip and Dale in there in the same design they are known as
The short tail that Chipmunks in cartoons are styled with, along with a simplified black and white stripe on their backs (at least for Disney technically speaking)
Which... leaves the biggest thing to point out
The fact that the lil guys are suppose to be stand ins for "Chip and Dale" to cause chaos cause they literally just want popcorn.
Which I'll be calling them "Crisp and Dips" after the diner.
Overall, Crisp and Dip look very much like they're juvinile young squirrels
They lack the black and white stripes that chipmunks are known for
And given this is A Disney game, with Chip and Dale being prominant to the story of this event. Even "appearing" as well in the style they are known for
You can't exactly have it both ways
If they are suppose to be "Chipmunks" as they apparently should be, they have to be designed as CHIPMUNKS
A.k.a, the signature black and white stripes and the short tails
If its to make them different from Chip and Dale. Keep the tails as is
BUT THEY HAVE TO HAVE THE STRIPES
Otherwise, they are squirrels
