Kaori hadn’t been in Wonderland for very long – well, she supposed in was a strong term for her case. After all, her real body was still above ground, lying unconscious in a hospital bed. This one was simply borrowed, and she was still unsure just how to feel about that. She wondered how being only half-here would make her different than the other trapped citizens, but the more time she spent among them and the more they told her of their own stories, Kaori realized her newfound companions didn’t seem to notice. The violinist decided perhaps keeping things that way would be best. Tapping her fingers rhythmically along the bakery counters, Kaori wondered what her trio of friends would be up to in the original world.
Still, being in Wonderland wasn’t much different - to an extent. The musician was still weak in her body, perhaps even weaker than before, and just last night she had another paralytic spell, albeit short. Koari had decided to put off going to the clinic until after work today, not all too eager to return to her norm of hospital sheets and vital signs. Shaking her head, blonde pony tail swishing lightly across her back, the ding of the oven caught her attention and she turned swiftly on her heel to attend to it. Of course, being Kaori Miyazono without the calming presence of Friend A, something was bound to go wrong. As she set the freshly baked array of pastries on the counter to be frosted, a gentle swing of her foot knocked a collection of pots and pans from their neatly stacked positions. “Oh no!” She groaned, grey eyes shining in distress as a similar ding sounded from the opening door. “I’ll be right with you!”
Setting to work as quickly as a sixteen year old could on only her second day, Kaori set the items gently into the dishwasher with a frown of disdain. Marinette would certainly reprimand her for this, but it was a mess that had to be dealt with nonetheless. After surveying the kitchen to assure she’d missed no spoon or spatula, the blonde brushed her hands off on her apron and made her way out to the front, met with the sight of a young girl and a glance from a co-worker as they disappeared to ice what treats needed attending to.
“Sorry for the wait!” Miyazono apologized, offering up an apologetic grin, even if the other was unable to appreciate it. “Ah, actually, no, I would be the cause of all those noises. I… get a little excited sometimes! My name is Kaori.” In gentle embarrassment, slim fingers played with the curls at the end of her pony tail. “But, yes, of course! We have a bit of everything, Maman makes sure of that. You name it! Macaroons, pastry crowns, danishes – mm, caneles, too!”
Mia stood there her rod pressed softly against the floor the crystal orb in it pointed towards the roof even as it stood unused in years it gave off a simple small magical glow that could hardly be noticed by most, but the presence upon touch was much more intense and anyone could tell that. Mia stood in her simple purple shirt and skirt with her white jacket covering her arms, the exact position of the girl so that made it hard to actually hide the scars next to her eyes, though her unfocused left eye was in plain view at all time. Mia held a smile on her face as the girl spoke her head was slightly turned to the direction of where she could hear the voice and she gave nods as she explained the noise and the things they had, Mia had not expected so many options really she was never really able to enter the bakery in her world so she didn’t know much about sweets. Everything sounded good, but Mia was sure the things would taste much different from what they sounded like, she had heard of macaroons before, but never being able to see one before the injury and not being able to see now there was no way she ever could imagine what it looked like.
“Ah you were the cause of such noises? Well there is no need to worry about that i have heard my own parents scream at the top of their lungs directly into my ears nothing could sound worse than that!” Mia gave a small laugh to herself she still didn’t see her parents as bad people, but perhaps that was a flaw in her, not like she cared though. “You sound quiet young, it’s good to see even here the people younger than me can find an actual job, of course that is just assuming you are younger...anyways that isn’t really important to me, age is a number not a judge.” Mia then stood up straight and lift the hand with her tome in it to her chin gently pressing a finger to her chin thinking. “All of what you have listed sounds like it would be good, but honestly i have not had any in my entire life, and i suppose some of the magic of sweets may be lost on me now as i hear many talking about how they look, while i can only rely on taste and smell to judge on my opinion. Which ones would happen to be your favorites Kaori? Perhaps i can try those?” Mia asked this question her smile only having grown more from the start of the conversation, she already liked this shop much more in this world than the one in her home, yes being able to talk was much better than having metal trays thrown at her.
“Ah by the way dear, what color would your eyes happen to be and maybe would you care to feed my curiosity by telling me your hair color as well? I apologize if it seems weird or something, in my home it is often stated that one can tell their destiny by those simple details, but mine was...rather mistaken.” Mia said this gesturing to her hair and then her eyes with her rod, the memory of her last sight was still stuck in her mind, a vision so scary she would wish no one else but herself to ever see it. “Ah yes...it may or may not be easy to tell by now but...I am blind, so i apologize for the trouble that i may cause while here, i know dealing with specifically me can be troublesome, it’s all i was ever told back home.” Mia said this placing her rod on her side and holding her tome in both hands now using one hand to hold the book and the other to gently rub over the texture it seemed as if she was trying to calm herself down, she wasn’t really used to many people actually being willing to talk to her. It also occurred to her that she was going off on a tangent with this as she could easily see as to how these random questions and dig into someones work time, but it wasn’t like this was an uncommon question in her opinion as she asked it to people often it let her know what may happen to people but it would also help her imagine the picture of the person in her mind often, and over the course of friendships she would often times many more questions like this.
