< Mod Tress > Hi! We do not, because we are so out of the loop with most media that is popular nowadays and it's easier to not do media requests than only open them up to our relatively niche interests.

< Mod Tress > Hey, we're trying to get back into this blog, but we have a new rule for requests that we're going to add to the blog itself.

If your request ISN'T something like requesting a pride flag or identity - e.g. "pastel themed blinkies", "video game blinkies", etc. - PLEASE give me an idea of what the blinkies should say on them.

I do not always know what message you want to send with the blinkies, and while some requests CAN be turned into just general "I like [subject of request]" type statements, those can feel redundant, uninspired, and unspecific.

You don't have to have exact phrases in mind, but if you can give me just ideas, it is much more likely I will be able to actually work with your request.

Hi, you’ve probably posted about this before but do you have any specific tools for making blinkies?

unsure if this is "tools" per se but i'll just tell u everything i know abt making them!

i use a browser-based program called photopea which is a clone of photoshop and is fundamentally the same. i have base templates that i made by downloading blinkie templates from commentslive when it was still up (i think there's another site called uhh holidaycomments where u could get the same thing? the ones on blinkies.cafe r sometimes rly stylized that can make editing parts of them out more difficult)

for the frame of the blinkie - that is, the part that's actually blinking - i sometimes remove the frame n just have the flashing parts on it, or i color one of the flashing parts the same color as the frame. this gives the blinkie different design effects, basically.

for the decorations that i use, its usually pngs of emojis that i downloaded. i also use clip art and transparent photo pngs sometimes, esp for animal ones that dont rly have emojis of them out there. also unicode, i use unicode a lot.

the background tends to look best when its not a solid color but rather a gradient of some kind. i also tend to desaturate colors a tiny bit so theyre not as eyestrainy as actual retro blinkies tended to be.

i know u said "tools" and not "tell me every detail abt how u make blinkies" but thats basically what i would think of if i think of actually having "tools" so yea! thats just abt everything i can tell u abt how to make blinkies
