Beagle bit family member, shows territorial aggression
Hi, i have a 1.5 yr old male beagle who is nothing like any other beagle iāve come across. Yesterday he bit my brother pretty badly when he tried to pick him up (my dog willingly went into his room and upto him). Showed to the vet, he said looks like dog has sore shoulder muscles which could be the reason he bit him, but we canāt be sure. 2 months ago he bit another family member - the dog was sleeping and the person was sitting beside him. There was mild noise, dog woke up and got hold of the personās hand. Again- can explain this away as being startled out of sleep, but canāt be sure.
He also has issues of territorial aggression heightened at night. Whenever he identifies someone in the house compound, heāll bark, chase and lunge. Hasnāt bitten anyone but itās way too close.
Any ideas of what can be done about this? Should we run some blood tests??
Also Heās pretty good with guests when theyāve entered the house. But we live in constant fear if he might just snap.
Thanks for reading
