Hi!!! Thank you so much for visiting!! Here's my current list (I'm only just now coming out of retirement) Please keep an eye out in the future for updated chapters/one shots/short stories. ⋆˙⟡
I recently had a comment on a piece of work I did that involved a plus-size character. This person basically said, " 'plus-size, curvy, living in bigger bodies,' just say fat, coming from a fat person, just say fat." To that, I just want to say while you may be able to confidently say that and it have no impact on your mental health there are so many people that hear that word and are flooded with negative emotions and memories. While I myself may be comfortable with calling myself fat and will use it in my writing at times there are plenty of synonymous words that can be used that may not feel as hurtful or negative. I think it's ridiculous to try and tell people that this is the word I use so everyone else should use it too. It's so important to remember that everyone is at a different place in their life and that it costs nothing to be kind to yourself and others.

Chapter Two
Lila went in for her shift the next morning, more tired than she wanted. Her sleep was plagued by whatever her mind conjured up with that strange blue flash. It made her want to call her therapist. She really should have, but Lila just chalked it up to her nerves with her new job and the busiest first shift she’s ever had.
“Watch it Frost,” a gruff voice said, breaking Lila out of her thoughts.
Lila looked up seeing that she was just about to bump straight into Dr. Abbot.
Embarrassment flushed across her face, “Dr. Abbot I didn’t see you there, I was a bit lost in my head.”
That’s right, just take all the blame.
“Well get out of it, you’ve got work to do,” he snapped at her before grabbing his bag and walking off.
Tears bloomed in her eyes and she tried hard to will them away as she watched as the night shift high fived each other and waited for Abbot, then they all turned and walked together towards the elevators.
A soft hand clasped her shoulder, she looked up and it was Robby with a small smile, “don’t take it personally Lila, night shift had a rough one last night. Something was in the air I think with yesterday.”
She smiled at him before turning away heading into the locker room. Between yesterday and today, Lila was more in her head than ever, doubting every move she decided to make and whether it was worth it or not for her to have made this move.
-ˋˏ ݁•.⊹.˳·˖✶𓆩𓁺𓆪✶˖·˳.𖥔 ݁ ˖.ˎˊ-
The first few months were like this, Dr. Abbot making snide remarks at her and Robby swooping in with small compliments and quick chats at the end of the shift by her car. Dana warned her on more than one occasion, but Lila didn’t think anything was wrong, just coworkers becoming friends and also becoming enemies.
Abbot was constantly undermining her which was getting under Dana’s skin, Lila was a damn good trauma nurse and she hated when she was asked to switch off a case all because Abbot had to stay and he didn’t want her anywhere near his patients. None of the other doctors understood it either, but he was an attending and his word was as loud as God’s.
Robby however, tried to get her on all of his cases, which Perlah and Princess were happy enough to teach her the ropes of and how to balance all the doctors as well as the residents who were being taught at the same time. Robby was kind to her, even pushing her to get her Masters so she could become an NP like Donnie was trying to do.
Dana was helping her along with her SANE hours. Lila had called her therapist the most these past few months. She felt like each case was worse than the last, with both the adults and the children that required both her and Dana’s help.
It’s not called The Pitt for nothing Lila.
Today’s shift was a draining one and she sluggishly walked towards her car when she paused seeing Robby and Abbot talking angrily at each other right next to her car. Abbot paused seeing her coming and glared, his eyes flashing as they locked onto her.
“Hey Robby, Hi Dr. Abbot,” Lila said, slowing down and nervously stepping closer to Robby, causing Abbot’s jaw to clench.
Robby smiled touching her shoulder before sliding down her back sending her skin into shock. She nearly crawled out of her skin and simultaneously wanted to get on a dating app. A man’s touch, no matter how hot, should make her feel like this. She really needed to get out there and no matter how hard she tried, even in a big city there was barely anyone worth a date.
You don’t need a date, just go get laid and focus on a date after that.
“Frost,” Abbot’s petulant nickname for her, digging its way under her skin. She was normally a nice person, always wanting to help and assist her coworkers, but Abbot never wanted any of it. Lila was sure that if he kept calling her Frost that maybe she would become just as frosty as he was.
“How can I help you Dr.?” Lila asked, bouncing lightly on her heels.
Robby’s fingers drew faint circles on her lower back, “Jack here, is going to talk to Dana at the end of his shift to see if you can do a flex schedule of night shift and day shift. Jack is also going to ask you if that’s even something you want to do.” His hand flexed then, almost possessively.
Lila clenched her legs as secretly as she could. Maybe she should call her therapist instead, no way was she sane to be this into two silver foxes. Definitely a power dynamic and her brain just turned to mush.
“Oh um, well I’m almost finished with my clinical hours for my SANE certification and then I have my exams for both adults and children. I wouldn’t mind the rotation, but check with Dana first Dr. Abbot.” Lila smiled at him, trying to radiate some joy into those lifeless yet bright blue eyes.
Abbot smiled tightly, “Yes thank you Lila, I will be sure to speak with Dana. Robby talk more in the morning?”
His eyes briefly flicked to where Robby’s arm went behind her back, his jaw clenching again before turning around and walking away somehow more pissed than before.
Robby sighed before looking down at her, “do you have dinner plans?”
Lila’s eyes widened, “oh, um no I don’t. If you don’t count the freezer pizza in my fridge and a beer.”
“Let's go get dinner then, I know this great pizza place and you can still have a glass of beer, but I’ll drive,” Robby looked at her and she made a move to interrupt, “I can’t have one of my best nurses drink and drive Lila. Wouldn’t be responsible of me.”
Lila laughed, “and asking me to dinner is responsible?”
Robby shrugged, his eyes crinkling as he smiled, “Probably not, but I think it’s worth it.”
Lila quickly followed after Robby as they began walking instead towards his car, before that same blue flash caught the corner of her and she turned briefly.
Abbot?
Lila swore in her head, she had blinked at whatever, whoever it was, was gone. She turned again and followed after Robby and hopped into his car before they peeled out of the parking garage and to whatever supposedly good pizza place Robby knew about.
-ˋˏ ݁•.⊹.˳·˖✶𓆩𓁺𓆪✶˖·˳.𖥔 ݁ ˖.ˎˊ-
Robby was right, this was probably one of the best pizza places Lila had ever been too. She had ordered an extra slice to take home for a late night snack or more than likely for her lunch tomorrow.
“How are you liking Pittsburgh so far?”
Lila smiled, her cheeks were rosy from two to many beers, “It’s different, but in a good way.”
Robby laughed, taking a sip of his drink, “I can imagine it was a shock coming from such a small hospital.”
“Hmm, I suppose, but it’s been great all things considered.” She responded before waving down the waiter to order another drink.
He raised a brow, “are you sure you don’t want to run away.”
Not from you
Robby laughed and Lila felt her cheeks redden even further.
”Oh my God,” Her eyes widened, “did I just say that out loud?”
He nodded looking down at her, his smile was wide, “you did, but it was my fault supplying you with drinks.”
Lila wanted to crawl into a hole and wither away. She felt like such a fool, she was a light weight and she knew that. Yet, she kept drinking and was trying to enjoy herself, but her mouth slipped that thought out and she probably just ruined a very good thing.
His hand touched hers, clasping around it and she felt her skin tighten in all the places she had long abandoned.
Robby stood up, and offered the same hand to her, “let’s get you home?”
Lila nodded and grabbed his hand, taking a moment to balance, “yes please.”
-ˋˏ ݁•.⊹.˳·˖✶𓆩𓁺𓆪✶˖·˳.𖥔 ݁ ˖.ˎˊ-
The car ride home felt like hours.
Lila kept looking out the window watching the city skyline morph and change.
Robby’s hand touched her thigh, holding on to it and her breath hitched in the back of her throat.
Fuck, must be a dream
She felt frozen in her seat, her mind spiraling as she watched his hand flex and squeeze her thigh. His thumb rubbing circles that sent bolts through her system. Her eyes flickered up to his and he was cautiously watching the road, before he looked down at her.
His eyes were full of a burning want and god what she would do in that moment to fulfill it. It was like Robby knew what she was thinking and determination filled his gaze before he clenched his jaw and turned back to look at the road.
They stopped a few moments later, her apartment building was in front of them and the car sat idling in the parking spot.
Neither of them moved, Lila counted her heartbeats, they felt so loud in her ears.
His hand slid towards the inside of her thigh, “Lila.”
”Robby.” Lila’s voice was quiet, her entire focus was on his hand.
The way the tendons and veins moved and flexed. The way her thigh softly gave way to his hand. Her hand reached out to his, grasping on to the top.
His other hand grasped her chin, turning her head towards his. His thumb pressing against her lips, “you have no idea what you do to me.”
She looked down quickly, her eyes widening and if her cheeks could redden any further they would. Looking back up at him, letting her mouth part slightly and letting her tongue slip out a lick the top of his thumb.
”I think I have an idea.”
Lila leaned closer and he followed, his thumb and forefinger still gripped her chin guiding her.
His thumb pushed down pulling her bottom lip, “you’re such a good girl Lila.”
She felt his breath against her lip, her eyes were almost pleading, her thighs were squeezed together, his hand stuck between them. Not that he appeared to have minded.
Robby smiled, bringing her head down and pressed a kiss to her forehead. Confusion rattled through her head.
What the fuck?
“Let’s get you to your apartment before anyone else watches.”
She froze, realization sinking in that all of her neighbors both in her community and her apartment saw her getting almost to first base with her boss.
Lila pulled back as he laughed and quickly got herself together, looking out the window and wanting to once again shrink away from everyone.
Robby had a smile on his face the entire time, between opening her door and walking her up to her floor and then to standing right outside her door. Lila looked up, staring at him. She was already planning out the fact that she was going to swipe through a few dating apps to find a few guys that would be far healthier than her older boss.
He tucked a strand of hair behind her ear and gently touched her face before leaning down and kissing her softly. His other hand sliding up and grabbing her waist. Lila grabbed both sides of his face, one going to the back of his head.
She leaned deeper into his kiss, and he let her take control before he gently pulled away, his jaw clenching as he pressed his forehead against hers.
”Have a goodnight Lila, if you need to come in a bit late tomorrow I’ll make it good with Dana.” Robby stood staring at her.
Lila blinked, biting her lip and reaching out to grab his hand. A hand that had saved countless lives, helped hundreds of others. However, that selfish part of her wanted it to serve a different, yet still very meaningful purpose.
”Wait, Robby, don't go just yet.” Lila said, trying to not sound desperate.
He smiled softly, lifting her hand and kissing the tips of each finger. Staring straight into her eyes as he did it, “Lila, go inside and get some sleep. You’ve got a shift tomorrow, can't have you falling asleep in my ER.”

Chapter One
A change of pace was needed, something new in a different town, someplace new that Lila hadn’t been. Someplace that wasn’t tainted with two decades of memories both good and bad.
Lila had been sitting in the small county hospital breakroom when she first saw the posting for a day shift trauma nurse in Pittsburgh. She had applied with little faith in getting out, she only had a few years of a small town ER experience, but she hoped and prayed to whoever would listen that she could get it.
Anything to get her out of here, this dead end life that everyone here had.
A few weeks later she got the call, did her virtual interview and next thing she knew, packed up her life and was on the next flight out heading to Pittsburgh. She laid down on her mattress in the near empty apartment and smiled, she made it out.
Tomorrow was her first day, meeting new people, a new pace, and hopefully enough to keep her mind busy from the endless loop of anxiety and dread.
And boy was Lila in for a treat.
-ˋˏ ݁•.⊹.˳·˖✶𓆩𓁺𓆪✶˖·˳.𖥔 ݁ ˖.ˎˊ-
“You must be Lila Frost?”
Lila looked up from the small waiting room she was told to go to for orientation, in front of her was a rather pretty looking woman, she held a clipboard with a few folders.
“Yes ma’am, you must be from HR for my orientation?” Lila asked and she nodded, “Yes I’m Mrs. West, you can go ahead and follow me.”
Lila smiled, got up and began to follow the woman, who walked a hell of a lot faster than she thought.
“Dana Evans is the charge nurse for day shift, you’ll be reporting to her as well as working with her for your clinical hours for your SANE certification.” They walked down the hallway heading towards the elevator, “Here is your new hire packet as well as your badge, grab your scrubs by the locker room and report to Dana.” They stopped in front of the elevator and pressed the down arrow.
Lila looked at her, “Thank you Mrs. West, where’s the cafeteria at?”
Mrs. West looked at her above her glasses and smirked, “girl you’ll be lucky to get in the breakroom.”
DING
She walked away as the doors opened leaving Lila confused and excited all at once. She stepped into the elevator thumbing loosely through the welcome folder, trying to calm her nerves.
Would she be good enough?
Can she keep up with everyone?
Did they actually want her as a nurse?
She should just hop back on a flight back home.
No. I need to stay.
Lila shook her head and held it high as the doors opened and pure chaos echoed into the small elevator. Her eyes widened with excitement as she stepped out into the sea of nurses and residents, smiling at a few who made eye contact as she made her way to the nurses locker room.
She quickly changed into her scrubs, clipping her badge to her and the rest of her equipment. Chucking everything into her locker, writing the code into the notes app on her phone, before turning around and abruptly bumping face first into a warm body feeling hot liquid pour down the front of her scrubs.
“Oh my god, I’m so sorry,” Lila quickly said, stumbling back and looking at the coffee that had spilled on her.
Great way to start the day Lila.
She quickly looked at the badge, not daring to make eye contact.
Michael Robinavitch MD
Attending Physician
Emergency Medicine.
Fuck.
“It’s alright it happens,” Dr. Robinavitch said Lila looked up at him, he was attractive on his ID photo, but it was obviously taken a few years ago. He’s aged since then, silver creeping into his hair and a few more wrinkles were on his face.
Holy god, he’s hot.
“Dr. Robinavitch, I didn’t see you, I di-” he raised a hand stopping her, “Lets get you some new scrubs? That can’t be too comfortable and please call me Robby” She nodded quickly, “oh, um okay Dr. Robby,” and turned to head back to the scrub dispenser before a hand shot out grabbing her upper arm.
“Wait.”
I’m being fired aren’t I.
She turned and looked at him, after his eyes looked straight back up. Lila scrunched her brows, did he just check her out?
“Yes, Dr. Robby?”
He let go of her and stood up straight, “You’re the new nurse right, Nurse Lila?” She nodded quickly, feeling the coffee soaking further through the scrubs, sticking to her skin.
“Okay, I’ll let Dana know what happened and buy you a few minutes.” He winked at her and blush flew across her face.
Please no, doctors are the worst. He may be hot but I can’t. Not again.
“Thank you Dr. Robby!” She squeaked out before turning quickly
She sprinted back to the scrub terminal and hurriedly took them off and waited for the new batch. Throwing them on she sprinted out, trying to tie the drawstring while keeping an eye on those around her. She only stumbled a few times and nearly bumped into a few other nurses who glared at her and she awkwardly smiled and waved before she made it to the nurses station.
“Hi! I’m sorry I’m late, I’m looking for Charge Nurse Dana?” Lila was a little breathless as she started at the nurses who all held raised eyebrows and stared at her.
“That would be me, and you must be Nurse Lila?” The middle aged blonde who both scared Lila and made her feel safe said and she rapidly nodded, “Yes ma’am! I apologize again, I accidentally ran straight into Dr. Robby and his coffee, an-”
“Kid, it’s fine, let’s go for a quick tour,” Dana waved her to follow and Lila quickly ran around the desk to begin walking with her.
“Alright we’ve got North and South and here are the trauma rooms, we try to get those in and out, cleaned up and ready for the next, Night Shift is cleaning up a few cases right now during hand off,” Dana said as they walked past the trauma bays.
Dr. Robby was in there guiding what looked to be a few attendings, he looked up almost like he knew she was there walking past. He threw her a quick nod and a wink before turning his attention back to his wards. Lila’s cheeks reddened, turning her attention quickly away before catching them on the doctor, at least who she assumed was another doctor or attending.
His blue eyes flashed, catching hers.
Another one? How many silver foxes can this hospital have?
She stopped in her tracks, her breath hiccuped in her chest. He looked at her almost, dissecting her. Peeling back the layers and reading into her soul. Lila felt exposed and almost violated, her head beginning to hurt.
“Lila! Keep up,” Dana yelled at her, breaking her out of the doctor's hold.
Lila shook her head before turning and following quickly after Dana. She quickly pressed her hair back, even though her long black hair was already in a tightly braided bun, smoothing her already wrinkled scrubs. She had never felt particularly self conscious, she was curvier than most, wider hips and butt, a soft stomach. She worked out when she could, mostly just walking from work or on the occasional trail walk. He seemed to have carved through her, seeing all the little imperfections, things she never thought about.
Lila bit her bottom lip nervously, “Dana, who is that other doctor in there with Dr. Robby?”
Dana turned and raised an eyebrow, “Dr. Abbott, he’s the night shift attendant and I would be careful with that one.”
“What? Oh. Oh my God Dana no, that’s not why,” Lila scrambled nearly biting through her lip.
“Mhm” Dana said, staring at her before giving her the rest of the tour, introducing her to a few other nurses and doctors, right before they could make it back to the nurses station, a multi pile up on the interstate was announced on the news.
Dana looked at her, “hell of a first day to start kid.”
Lila was wide eyed, she secretly hoped, but knew better than to say aloud that she would get an easyish day to start. Yes she knew that it was a major trauma center, but she hoped today would be the one day that was quieter. Lila was of course wrong, she was barely right on a good day.
“Alright Lila, I know you have some ED experience, but we aren’t called the Pitt for nothing, step in where you can, and help where you can.” Dana said as she began shouting orders at other nurses and Robby came out and began directing the residents.
Dr. Abbott stepped out, “Robby, do you need the night shift to stay?”
Please no, please say no Dr. Robby. If you can hear me tell him no.
Bright blue eyes flashed and lasered onto her own amber ones. Anger flashed across his face. Fear rooted her to her spot, throat running dry. There was absolutely no way that he could have heard her thoughts. That was impossible. She was a woman of science and medicine, and there was no way he heard her thoughts.
Lila looked down at her watch, almost time for her meds. She probably needed to take them a bit early, before her own anxiety ate her alive and she failed on her first day.
“No, send the crew home, nothing that day shift can’t handle.” Dr. Robby said.
Lila’s shoulders sagged in relief.
Thank you Dr. Robby, finally someone heard my prayers.
A few more orders were given and she quickly went where Dana ordered her, being taken under the wing of Nurse Donnie. Lila made a quick stop just to take her anxiety medication before half sprinting to find Donnie.
“We’re gonna help with some triage first, try and dip your toes in, yeah?” Donnie said and Lila nodded enthusiastically.
She spent her first few hours of work neck deep in triage, helping Donnie and Dr. McKay out. Lila liked McKay, she had a drier sense of humor, but she was relatable and definitely more relaxed than Santos. It may have been her first day, but she was nervous to cross paths with her. Santos had this way of staring at you that made you want to turn around a shrivel up in a hole, not to die because that would be weak and pathetic, just to cry.
“So Lila, why the transfer from that small county hospital to this?” Donnie asked her once they finished up with what felt like the twelfth stuffy nose in 30 minutes.
Lila looked at him and shrugged, “A change of pace I guess, see what else the world has to offer.” She laughed, “See more than the same five guys on Bumble.”
“Preach it, Lila.” McKay laughed and Donnie joined in,”but, really. You must have only seen what? A few farming accidents or MVs?”
“Yeah and a few hunting accidents, nothing like today though.” She looked through the swinging doors to the back department, “Most of my old coworkers wouldn’t make it through this triage, let alone a multi car pile up. We weren’t rated for that level of trauma.”
-ˋˏ ݁•.⊹.˳·˖✶𓆩𓁺𓆪✶˖·˳.𖥔 ݁ ˖.ˎˊ-
Dana had called her back after a few hours, helping with clean up and monitoring a few patients. Not all of them had made it though. One family lost their son, another lost their father and mother. It was somber, but ambulances kept bringing other traumas for the rest of the day.
Lila had done her best to keep up, but as the end of her shift was approaching she could feel a bone deep tiredness leeching in. She hadn't felt this tired since nursing school and she stumbled into the bathroom and she swore she had seen blood under her finger nails.
“You did great out there,” Lila jumped and saw Dana behind her.
Lila smiled, “Thank you Dana, definitely beats out what my old job was like, I used to be able to make it to the cafeteria for lunch.”
Dana laughed and clasped her on the shoulder, leading the two of them out of the bathroom and back out to the nurses station, “I haven’t seen that cafeteria since I started.” Lila snorted, “They didn’t even bring me there on the tour this morning.”
She went to the locker room and quickly changed, her sweats felt like heaven on her body and she was sure her bed was singing its own song and luring her out of the hospital. Lila quickly headed out and into the parking garage, waving at a few as she left.
“Wait, Lila.”
She turned almost at a sloth's pace, it was.. Dr Robby? She stood there just staring at him, barely enough energy to smile at him, “Hey Dr. Robby, is everything okay?”
Robby nodded, gesturing her to keep walking and she obliged, the quicker she got to her car the better.
“Yeah, everything is fine, just wanted to check on our newest nurse,” He smiled at her and she couldn’t help but smile back at him.
Fuck, he’s cute.
Lila averted his eyes, “I’m doing good, you guys haven’t scared me away yet.”
He laughed, “well at least we got to keep you on day shift. Abbott almost got you for the night shift.”
“What do you mean?” She stopped at her car, which was a silver older model camry. Something reliable and easily fixed. Robby looked at it briefly, smiling softly before leaning on the hood.
“Night shift is down a trauma nurse and you’re coming in with SANE hours,” he looked down at her, “Abbott wants you to flex between night and day shift.”
Lila laughed, “I’ve met night shift nurses, they are a different breed and that is definitely not in my contract.”
I’m rereading it as soon as I have enough eye strength to do so. Maybe sending it to a lawyer.
Robby laughed and she felt herself melt just a bit, “yeah I know, don’t worry. You technically don’t have your certification yet and Dana is supposed to help with that. I’m sure once you get it, HR will probably talk with you and rework your contract back out.”
Lila stared at him, “only if the pay is good enough, and it hardly ever is.”
Robby tapped the hood before standing straight up off the car and putting a comforting hand on her shoulder.
A little more to the right is my preference.
I need to get laid and fast.
“Good job today Lila Frost.”
“Thank you Robby.”
-ˋˏ ݁•.⊹.˳·˖✶𓆩𓁺𓆪✶˖·˳.𖥔 ݁ ˖.ˎˊ-
Lila laid in her bed, tossing and turning. She felt restless, the city was too loud and her mind kept replaying all the patients from the day. The horrific screams of family members losing their loved ones.
“God, fuck, I just want some sleep that’s it. I promise. Just let my brain shut off for a minute and let me rest,” She sat up groaning into her hands.
Lila stood up, plucking her ratty little shorts from college out of her butt and pulling down the little tank top that had decided to ride up from the tossing and turning. She walked to her small little bathroom and turned the faucet on, splashing her face with some warm water.
She rubbed her eyes before looking up at herself, her bloodshot eyes and the dark heavy bags under her eyes. There was a flash of blue in the mirror, fear and adrenaline shot through her body and she blinked, rubbing her too tired eyes and it was gone.
Lila whirled around, “Hello?” her voice squeaked out into her small studio apartment.
There was no response and carefully she walked out, flicking on the light switches as she went. No one was here. It was just her. She groaned, rubbing at her eyes, she was too tired and she had her shift in the morning. Lila paused in the kitchen and grabbed a knife before walking back to her bed and climbing in for the night.
