Stay Tuned!
Dear God, Is there a Target in heaven? I know that this question may seem strange but please allow me to explain. You see you called my Mama home almost three weeks ago on her 60th birthday. I've heard that heaven is beautiful and you walk on streets of gold but can you walk through the aisles of Target too? Mom loved Christmas, she loved it because we were all together. This is the time of the year where her kids and grands were home. We would pack up the car and make our haul from Georgia to Michigan. We would always sing Christmas songs and Mom would anxiously await our arrival. She always had the cookies ready and every room decorated elaborately. You better bet she waiting at the door with the biggest hugs, the best hugs!! We couldn't wait to get to our shopping, this is something that we always did together. We would stroll through the aisles of Target and Moms eyes would twinkle as she picked out her gifts for the kids. Mom had a heart of gold and loved to give. She loved watching her grands run out to the tree on Christmas morning, even if we stayed up wrapping gifts until 2 am. So Lord as I get ready to shop this year and tears roll down my cheeks, I need to know if she will be walking through the aisles of Target with me? To everyone who has lost a loved one this year, I know how hard the holidays can be. A very kind soul told me to take it one second at a time and that's exactly what I intend to do. If you see a girl looking a bit lost in Target please be kind, she just lost her partner in crime. All my love, Katrina Marie Tahir www.katrinatahir.com Katrina Tahir In loving memory of Patricia Ann LaPree Cranmer, my Mama, my best friend. November 15th, 1960 - November 15th 2020
No matter what happens today y'all, no matter who wins the election. It's all going to be alright. Why? Because God still prevails. God still sits in the same spot as He always has. He is still IN CONTROL. We have to hold tight to hope & to one another. We've got this. May we strive to see the best in each other. May we be kind to one another. May we hold hands. May we pray for the nation, together. Sending love & hugs, Katrina
This morning's post is brought to you by chaos! I would love to write a post that tells you all about my fantastic week but unfortunately life isn't always peaches and cream. That's just the truth, isn't it? I have spent the last 3 days rushing, stressing, and feeling utterly spent. I mean I am spent! Anyone with me? I have rushed to school, rushed to work, and even dropped a bottle of my favorite coffee creamer...3 times, in one morning! So today as I woke up in an exhausted state and rolled out of bed I made a choice and that was to consciously evaluate my day. What do I mean by evaluate? I mean to look for things that can be changed to make a difference. I also mean to find the good things in the mundane & stressful things. So here is what I have so far... I AM constantly rushing. Yes, yes I am. However, I am thankful to have things to rush to and for. I have beautiful children who count on me and love me big. I have a job to rush to. In today's strange world this is a huge blessing. Most days I want to pull the hair out of my head, I am always stressed! Now this is a tough one. I am stressed because of minor issues that I CAN change and work on. I am thankful for the opportunity to be able to change things. I also am thankful that I have the hair on my head to pull, just sayin'. Things could be a lot worse. I am utterly spent. Oh man! I am utterly spent because I have 2 beautiful children, a job, and a husband. This means I have 3 relationships to attend to and a job. I am so incredibly grateful for the 3 beautiful people I have in my life to love. The creamer, oh the ever-lovin' creamer! I mean, who spills creamer not once but 3 times in one morning? This is not an exaggeration folks, this really happened. Please don't ask me how. I really don't know. It was a slippery little bugger! I am grateful that I can go buy another bottle. I am grateful that on "most" mornings I can sit and sip my coffee in peace. Well... every so often there will be a toddler screaming in the background but you get the idea. What in your life is stressing you? What is draining your energy? What do you think you can change? Take the time today to put things into perspective beautiful people. I am sure that you will find that some of the things that have you feeling spent are also the things that you are grateful for every. single. day. You will be surprised how a just a little perspective can change an entire day! May your day be full of perspective & love, Katrina www.facebook.com/katrina.marie.tahir instagram.com/trina.tahir13
Hey girl, it's me, It's time to admit it. It's been a long time since you've been yourself. I mean, you can try and deny it but what good is that going to do? I just wanted to let you know that eventually you will find your groove again. You may feel like you're running on zero or you may just be overwhelmed. Maybe you're sick and tired of zoom calls & meetings. Maybe you're over the 12,000 emails you are getting from your kids teachers... It's okay to admit that. Maybe you're struggling with something else and you just haven't wanted to face it? Maybe it's got your stomach in knots and you just haven't been ready to deal with it? Are you depressed? Anxious maybe? Maybe you're really not sure what you are, you're just not quite "you"? I feel that sis, I am there with you. These past few weeks I have felt completely drained. The kind of drained where coffee doesn't begin to help! Trust me, I tried coffee, like way too many cups of coffee. I had 4 days off this past week and I found myself sinking into the sofa cushions wishing I had the energy to get up and do ALL of the things that I needed to do. Confession: I didn't put makeup on, I stayed in my pajamas, and I watched the Hallmark channel. Maybe it's depression? Maybe it's the fact that I have so much to get done that it's actually mentally draining? I really can't tell you what it is because I am clueless! I just wanted to let you know that no matter what season you are in, it's okay to let your body rest, it's okay to let some things go. Sometimes we have to put some things on the back burner so that we can have a mental "reset". Other times we need to take a step back so that we can analyze what's going on in our lives and really put things into perspective. Today I am choosing to take a few really big steps back so that I can do just that. I need to figure out what it is that's burning up my energy and focus. Will you take a few steps back with me? Let's choose to let our mind and body rest today so that we can see clearly again. Let's let our body rest. Let the dishes sit in the sink another day because let's face it sis, another day is nothing at this point! If you need to turn on the Hallmark channel for the day, do it. This too shall pass. We're in this together, Katrina www.instagram.com/trina.tahir13 www.katrinatahir.com
Anyone else lie awake at night and overthink? I am awful about it, especially lately. It's been a rough few weeks and I have felt completely overwhelmed. We have been remodeling our home so it's a mess, I've been sick and absolutely exhausted, and just unsettled in general. I think that when we overthink there is a little more going on than we realize. You see, when we overthink it means we have "too much" going on, it gives us too much to contemplate and to think about. We really need to expose it for what it is, we just need to rip that band-aid off! As I was laying there last night praying and telling the Lord how tired and overwhelmed I was, I felt Him ask me why I was rushing? I felt as though He told me to pump the brakes. I felt as though He wanted me to realize that the more I put on myself, the more anxiety I take on as well. This life is already so busy. Is it not? Chaos is generated, but so is peace. I can't choose whether or not I get sick but I can choose how much I put on myself. I can choose self-care, and self-love. Maybe if I do that, I reduce the chances of getting sick, yes? Anxiety does a lot to our bodies, I think more than we realize. So tell me? Are you overwhelmed? Are you trying to take on too much? Do you lie awake at night thinking instead of dreaming? Maybe you need to start pumping the brakes too? Take a deep breath with me. Know that whatever it is hanging over your head, no matter how much you have to get done, it doesn't have to be done today. Work at your own pace but remember to take care of you too. If you try to do everything at a high speed than you will get worn down, it's only a matter of time. Take care of you today. Pump those brakes just a little bit... Sending well wishes your way, Katrina www.instagram.com/trina.tahir13
I have to remind myself at times that He's got the whole world in His hands.
I really shouldn't have to remind myself, should I? Yet I have to, all of the time. You with me?
I have to remind myself that the whole world means just that, the WHOLE world.
He's got every. little. thing. in His hands.
We don't have to worry, yet we do.
We don't have to try and figure everything out, yet we try.
If we could just trust. Trust Him more and worry a little bit less.
What are you worrying about today? What are you fretting over? What's got your gut tangled up in knots? Now, you may have had mexican for lunch but you know dang well that's not all that's got your stomach turnin!
God wants us to hand our worries over to Him. He wants us to trust that He has it taken care of.
I wanted to give you this little reminder today because I know that I need to be reminded and I need to be reminded a lot.
He's got you in his hands. He's got the whole world in His hands.
Give it to God tonight, hand it over!
Katrina
Oh Lord, when my heart is overwhelmed, lead me to the rock. When I feel exhausted, lead me to the rock. When I am afraid, lead me to the rock. When I am anxious, lead me to the rock. When I am doubtful, lead me to the rock. When I feel hopeless, lead me to rock. When I need answers, lead me to the rock. When the pain of life is too heavy to bear, lead me to the rock. When my faith is weak, lead me to the rock. When the mountain is high and my legs are shaky, lead me to the rock. Lord, lead me to the rock.
Do you ever have days where you don't feel like praying? It's okay if you do. There are times where life can feel overwhelming and our problems can feel all-consuming. Maybe you don't feel like praying because you've lost our way? Maybe you feel as though He isn't listening? Maybe you feel tired of asking, of begging. I've had times where I have lost my way, where I've felt consumed with worry, with doubt. I lost hope and I stopped praying, I stopped believing that God was capable of moving the mountains before me. But, He always reels me back in. He knows just how much I need Him. He is so faithful y'all! Let me say this, He shows up and when He does y'all, He shows out! Let me ask you, have you lost your way? Are you feeling the Holy Spirits tug? Maybe it's time to lean in to that tug. Maybe God knows that you're running on empty. He knows that you need to re-fuel. You can't re-fuel on your own, you just can't. The Lord knows you better than anyone else. He hears your prayers. He knows your hearts desires and He has not forgotten you. Maybe He needs you to let go and trust in Him. His timing is not the same as ours. Maybe, just maybe He knows that what you're praying for isn't what you need. Sometimes His will and our plans simply don't match up. Isaiah 55: 8-9 "For My thoughts are not your thoughts, Nor are your ways My ways, says the Lord. For as the heavens are higher than are higher than the earth, So are My ways higher than your ways and My thoughts than your thoughts." Walking in faith means that there will come a point in our prayer when we have to choose to believe that God is in control–and live like we believe it! Live like you believe it today, lean in to that tug, re-fuel. God's Got YOU, Katrina
Guess what? It's pretty hard to be bored if you live for others.
Today I was thinking that I rarely have down time. Then I thought about the reason why I'm busy; I invest in my people. Relationships are an investment!! I have a lot of wonderful people in my life that do so much for me and I hope that I do the same for them. I am incredibly blessed.
Are you investing in your relationships?
This doesn't mean that you have to pester them 24 hours a day.
This doesn't mean that you have to track them down or text them every 5 minutes....
Side note: Please don't do any of the above, checking up on your peeps doesn't mean that you need to be a creepy stalker.
What you can do is check on them.
You can send a text.
You can call.
You can notate important milestones & send a card every so often.
You can schedule a lunch or coffee date & offer help when they need it.
Look at your relationships, where could they use some attention? Check on your peeps! They need you and you need them.
Sending my love,
Katrina
