They Might Be Giants didn’t have to arrange their album so that “Mr. Me,” a lively song about a depressed character named Me narrated in the third person, was preceded by a sad, slow song about depression and aimlessness that ends with the line “I find myself haunted by a spooky man named me / I wish that I could jump out of my skin,” but they did that for us.
