Connect BlogWith to your Wordpress

Yes, it's true that you can connect Evernote with your Wordpress now! BlogWith helps you make it real.

Below are simple steps to connect BlogWith with your Wordpress.com blog, if you are using self-hosted Wordpress, please scroll down for instructions.

Assuming that you already connected with Evernote. In Step 2, choose to connect with Wordpress:

Select the blog you want to connect to, and press "Authorize" button:

Now you're connected. You can start to blog now right from Evernote. Follow this link for instructions how to get started.

For self-hosted Wordpress, you will need to install Jetpack plugin and connect Jetpack with Wordpress.com server.

You can search and install Jetpack directly from Plugins Page

Install the plugin "Jetpack by Wordpress.com"

After installing, visit Jetpack page (right under Dashboard), and click "Connect to Wordpress.com"

Click "Authorize Jetpack"

Horray, now Jetpack is set up!

Go back to blogwith.co, in step 2, choose to connect with Wordpress:

Select the blog you want to connect to, and press "Authorize" button:

You will need to authenticate with your self-hosted Wordpress.

Now you're connected! You can start to blog now right from Evernote. Follow this link for instructions how to get started.

Simple steps to blog with Evernote

It's so easy to write an article with BlogWith and Evernote, this is how:

First link your account with Evernote and your blog in Github, Tumblr or Wordpress. When you are done, your screen will look like this:

Open your Evernote client, looking for a new notebook, name "BlogWith"

Now, it's time to write!

When you finish writing, sync it to Evernote server. That's all you need to publish a new post. BlogWith will take care the rest to convert Evernote document to a blog post.

Now, open your blog and the new article is already there.

How will users know about your app

The question struct me this morning, when I'm coding for a hackathon app. Our team are implementing on an idea for a new Chrome extension, then a girl stop by to chat and ask that question.

We did many planning discussion. We questioned what is the benefit of users after they use the app for a while? What is the utility aspect that make early adopter start to use the app? How do we integrate the app with current users' habit and avoid to educate a new habit? Eventually how to give incentives and make user engaged?

These are all very important question, but we haven't think about how users will find out our app? It's pure a marketing point of view. But it awakes me that I didn't have much consider about this before.

As I believe that marketing strategy should come from the product itself, so I think this is a basic question that we should put into product design discussion. Which means we should aim to build a product that can market itself.

Either in a viral way, words of mouth, social media or press or whatever..., this marketing strategy should be on easy day, don't try to build it first then go to sell later.

Sell first, sell early, sell often.

Simplicity from inside out

As a developer who build app, I want to write clean code.

As a startup's product guy, I want to "move fast and break thing", which means do whatever that ship the product. Usually, the code can be messy.

It's true that a startup need to do a lot of testing, to know which solution will work for customers.

Move fast and ship the product is very important.

But produce a messy code can be a choice in many situations.

Sometimes, more features doesn't mean that you can test more. It may get users confused.

You need to be very clear on what you want to give to users. Simplify everything to its essentials. Build small features and test how market thinks about it.

The solution need to be clean and simple. The code also need to be simple and clean.

Can a clean solution growing from a messy code? No. Simplicity from inside out.

This means that tomorrow, I need to refactor my new code. I built a cool, easy to use Reminder feature, with a quite complicated code. I sugar to myself that I make something simple from complicated. No, make it simple from inside out.

Ship then simplify.
