Realizing that I’m a lesbian has been so liberating. Realizing that I’m not attracted to men, that I don’t have to be attracted to men, that I don’t have to live my life for men, has been so liberating. Understanding why I never liked the idea of having a boyfriend/kissing a boy or getting married to a man and that it’s NOT because I don’t want a love life has been more fucking empowering than ever. So was learning that everything I was taught regarding religious homophobia was a lie. So was being able to identify as femme. So was realizing that I’m not a straight girl just “faking it” for the lulz or to be trendy and cool, even if I thought I was straight before. Realizing that I’m gay is like finding that one puzzle piece for my soul and piecing it in the right place to create a full, beautiful, glorious picture.
And it’s awesome. I love being gay.
Ulrik Weck.
