Things Are Changing || Jon & Renee

Things were going smooth on a sunny day in Vegas as Jon enjoyed his calmer days off with a beverage in his hand. He sat on the back porch with his feet resting on the glass table, the cool breeze flowing through his significantly shorter locks due to his recent hair cut. This weekend was especially more exciting because Renee finally had time off from work and they could spend the next few days pretending as though quarantine was still in full effect. After a few hours of sunning himself the heat started to get a little over bearing so he headed inside to find his wife knowing she was probably working because she never stopped. Jon slowly made his way through their home taking sips of his whiskey as he made his way through each room. Eventually he heard some scattering of paper and knew he’d found his lady, the moment he walked into their office and he saw she had her head buried into her laptop he sighed but knew it was what she loved to do. Jon placed his glass down on her desk and placed his hand on her shoulder whilst standing behind the computer chair “Do you ever stop?” he asked with a chuckle as he looked down at her blonde locks then took a look at her laptop seeing a few shots of her cookbook knowing she was balls deep in her new project “I mean I’d buy it just for that picture… I don’t even like cooking…” he commented as he pointed at a picture of her biting into some sort of pasta dish whilst looking stunning. Jon then turned her around so she could take her eyes off her work and pulled his jeans up slightly at the thigh so he could bend down and meet her at eye level “If you don’t close that laptop and come outside with me and get some sun I’m gonna have to drag you…” he threatened with a smirk as he gazed into her eyes.

He watched her down the whole glass and his eyes were widened at the sight but impressed to know his girl could knock back a glass of whiskey like the best of them “I mean I had some doubt before but fucking hell I believe you now.” Jon laughed and examined his whiskey glass when she handed it back to him - rubbing off the lipstick stain she’d left with the cuff of his hoodie. “Babe I can’t wait to see your cookbook on every shelf of every store we go in … would it be cheating if I sold out every store just on my own? Like removed the gym in the garage and just filled it top to bottom with your cookbook?” he chuckled but knew the second he saw his wife’s cookbook on a shelf of any store he visited it was going to be incredibly hard not to pick it up and buy it no matter how many he had at home. The sound of the laptop closing was music to his ears knowing that he now had the entire weekend to spend with his favourite person in the world. It’s not that Jon wasn’t excited it was just the fact that he instantly assumed that he was the reason she’d quit her dream job and that was a burden he didn’t want on his back. When Renee had clarified her reasons for handing in her notice the excitement could finally proceed to take over his body and he pulled Renee up to her feet gently “No fucking way!” Jon said happily as he brought her into a hug “You shocked the shit outta me I ain’t gonna lie but I’m so proud of you babe.” he said to her whilst they hugged before finally letting her go - his face getting red from smiling at the thought of her finally being able to take up all those offers she’d previously had to decline due to her WWE contract. “Have you got anything on the horizon or are you just gonna live the wild life?” Jon wondered and still couldn’t believe she’d took the leap “and let me just say because we’re all thinking it - WWE gave you a hell of a lot I ain’t gonna deny that but you were SO underused like fucking hell… you could’ve done it all - anything they gave you you just would’ve taken it to new heights and added your own little Renee shine to it and they just needed took the plunge - well fuck them man they’re gonna miss you.” Jon rambled as he looked down at the paper she’d printed out not even reading it as he thought about how lost WWE were going to be without her and he relished in the thought.

As he wiped her lipstick off the glass she laughed lightly as she watched him before looking up at him, “Aw that was totally your shade too babes you would’ve looked fabulous!” She teased him as she continued to laugh lightly. “That would totally be cheating babes, we already get a copy automatically but if you wanna have your own special signed copy I think I can make that happen. Now I know you’re joking because there’s no way you’re going to remove the gym in the garage you spend more time in there then anything and I wouldn’t know where to look for you when I can’t find you in the house.” She said chuckling with him but his enthusiasm about her book made her even more excited about it coming out not to mention proud that she was actually able to put a cookbook together, she couldn’t wait till she walked into a store and saw a book with her picture on the cover not to mention her name on the cover as well. As he pulled her up to her feet she looked up at him waiting to see his reaction but when she heard the excitement in his voice she finally relaxed now that she was getting the reaction she expected, “yes fucking way!” She replied just as excitedly before hugging him back, wrapping her arms tightly around him and laying her head on his chest since she was the perfect size to do that and it always rested confortably there. “Yea I shocked the shit outta myself when it crossed my mind a month ago that I could leave now, my contract was expiring and did I really wanna spend another few years there but the answer came so easily to that question that I knew it was time for me to go.” She said before she pulled back from the hug as well and looked up at him, seeing the smile on his face just made her smile as well as she laid one of her hands on his red cheek. “I think for now I’m just gonna live the wild life, finish up my book and maybe hit the road with my husband for a little bit now that I can be backstage at aew without getting in trouble and then I’ll decide on another career path but for now I’m going to enjoy being a free agent.” She said as she moved her thumb slowly over his cheek as she smiled up at him, actually excited to see what the future held for her and for them. “Yea wwe gave me everything I ever wanted, my dream job, financial stability, my dream man and our dream house I can’t deny wwe was good to me. I know babes that’s another reason I think it’s time to go they never know what they have with anyone till they’re gone and after I left the announce team and they got some fresh faces backstage interviewing I was tossed to the side except for Backstage and hosting the preshows.” She said as smiled at his ramble before standing on her tiptoes to kiss him quickly for a moment, “I love you babes and I can’t wait to see where this takes us next.” She said as smiled up at him.

Jon knew Renee would soon be leaving her work chair the moment her lips touched his whiskey glass - after all who drinks on the job? “I want that gone in the next ten minutes to let me know you’re in the weekend mood.” Jon teased her knowing after one glass of whiskey work would be the last thing on her mind and of course since they had a few days alone he wanted her to loosen up a little and relax. “Deadlines… that word is just terrifying.” he juddered and cringed at the thought of having to hand something in on a certain deadline knowing that kind of pressure would just made him panic but that’s where him and Renee were two completely different cats. When she scrolled down to the cute picture of the two of them trying out Renee’s food he smiled at the sight but then he couldn’t help but scoff as she pointed at the picture of him devouring a burger “I’m not so sure babe that burger is looking way more appetising than me taking a huge chunk out of it like a fucking shark.” he laughed but admired for a second how good they looked together in the entire photo shoot and getting excited to see it’s release. Jon was intrigued the moment she told him that there was something she hadn’t talked to him about and stood to his feet as she made her way over to the printer. He was left flattened when she blurted out that she had ‘kinda quit her job’ and his mouth was left stunned as she handed him the paper. “You what?” Jon asked completed floored that she’d quit the job he thought she loved so dearly “Why’d you not think I’d care about this?” he questioned and then only seconds late his mind turned the opposite direction “Please don’t tell me you’ve done this because of me…” that was something he never wanted and hoped that wouldn’t be the case.

When he teased her she couldn’t help but laugh lightly but honestly she had been so involved with her cookbook she forgot about it even being the weekend so she picked up his glass and finished off what was in it before handing it back to him with a big grin, “I am in complete weekend mood I promise.” She said before clicking the save button on her documents and closing her laptop, her alone time with Jon was more important than any deadline to her especially since their alone time was so few and far between. “Yea tell me about it I don’t like them myself but if I want this cookbook to be published I have to go by my publisher’s deadline or I may never see my little baby out in the world.” She laughed lightly as she started to straighten the papers she had scattered across her desk but she had worked too hard and too long to not see that cookbook on every store shelf in America but she was almost done as well only a few more recipes to add and to place their pictures where they needed to be then she would send it off to the publisher and it was out of her hands then whatever happened after that happened. “Nah the guy taking a big bite of it looks more appetizing then anything that is in this cookbook.” She said as she smiled up at him but she thought her husband was the most hunkiest guy to ever walk the earth and nothing was ever going to change her mind on that. When she didn’t get the excitement from him about her quitting like she thought she would she looked up at him feeling like maybe she should’ve talked this over with her husband first, “because you’ve been practically begging me since you quit for me to quit. I thought you’d be happy.” She admitted as she sat back in her chair. “Of course not babes I didn’t do this for you, I did this for me. If I would’ve done this for you I would’ve quit right after you did when my contract expired but I didn’t I resigned but now feels like the right time to walk away. I have so many doors opening up to me now that I couldn’t take because of wwe, I have so many options about my next step that I’m actually excited for the future and not to mention maybe we can start that family we’ve been talking about.” She said as she looked up at him.

Renee was rereading the email of her resignation she was sending to Vince and all the higher ups for the twentieth time but the time felt right she was ready to walk away from the company that gave her everything she ever wanted in life not to mention where she met the love of her life who was now her husband. She printed out a copy of the email before taking a deep breath and pressing send as a small smile spread across her face she actually felt free, like she could do anything now and the only person stopping her was herself she felt like the whole world was open at her feet now and surprisingly she didn’t feel sad she felt happy and relieved. As she closed the email and opened up the document she was typing her new passion on she smiled as the keys clicked under her fingers as she typed out the rest of the recipe she had started the night before before calling it a night and watching a movie with her favorite person in the world. She looked down at the whiskey glass Jon sat on her desk before looking up at him, “of course not. I have a deadline I have to meet with the cookbook.” She smiled before picking up his glass to take a sip and sat it back down. Renee laughed at the picture he pointed out she had of the photo shoot they did at their house a couple of weeks ago before scrolling down to a picture of them, “nah I’d buy it just for that sexy beast right there.” She smiled as she pointed at her computer screen of a picture of him and her before scrolling back up to the words she was typing. When she turned her around to face him she smiled as she looked into his eyes once they were eye level with each other, “okay babes I promise no more working today but I have something I have to tell you and I didn’t talk it over with you first because I honestly knew you wouldn’t care.” She explained before moving her chair over slightly to the printer and pulling out the copy of the email she had just sent before handing it to him, “I kinda just quit my job.” She said as she looked up at him.

Paquette Presents

Christmas music was flowing through the house with the signature crackle from Renee’s record player and the Good household was flowing with Christmas spirit. Jon had already had a few too many glasses of champagne Renee had set out for her family once they arrived but his excuse was simply ‘it was Christmas’ which seemed to let him get away with pretty much anything this time of the year. This was the first time Jon had met her extended family and their kids so he had to admit he was a little bit nervous, he knew Renee always wanted him to be toned down but he worried after a few drinks he’d derail and go back to normal. Aside from the worry Jon had ended up falling in love with this time of year, before Renee Christmas was just him going to the strip and drinking until he couldn’t see straight but now he was being introduced to family values and being surrounded by love - he finally saw what all the hype was about surround Christmas. He had no idea what was in store, all he knew was that her family were arriving in t-minus two hours and Renee was running around trying to get everything perfect. The dogs were jingling around the house in their Christmas jumpers looking like elves and the tree was lighting up their living room whilst the sun began to set over the Nevada mountains, everything just seemed perfect. Jon was strolling down their hallway with a champagne in hand and bumped into a rushing Renee and without another word held her hand to stop her in her tracks. He looked down at her with a little smile and released her hand so he could wrap the free arm around her waist and began singing to ‘Have Yourself A Merry Little Christmas’ in his best Sinatra he could muster. Jon danced with her in the hallway as he continued to sing to her, rocking their bodies slowly as they turned their bodies hoping to get her to just take a moments break with him and enjoy the moments they had alone before they were stampeded by the family.

When she mentioned tying her to the bed Jon couldn’t help but smirk as he pictured her strapped up to their headboard like many times before and then couldn’t help but put his hands on her wrists and hold her arms against her back “I’d love to tie you up right now… you fucking suck for even putting that in my head blondie.” Jon said to her as he looked into her eyes with a devilish smirk as he hands remained held behind her back. “Yeah this is like our own thing it’s kind of a lot of power like if we wanted to just smash this wall through to make it bigger we could…” he said going off on one of his utterly useless tangents. When she wondered if he would be preferring to be in some bar as the night went on Jon thought back to all the years before this he’d be slouched against a bar swirling his beer around in his bottle and on this inside just wondering what it would be like to have a family Christmas but on the outside pretending as though going out partying every year was the greatest thing ever… he’d longed for something like this for so long but never gave anyone the satisfaction to know that it killed him to have to go out and get wasted just to get through the Christmas period “Trust me babe i ain’t gonna wish I was in some bar tonight… this… it means a lot y’know…” he responded not wanting to give her the impression that he hated going out to those bars in his past because if he opened that can of worms it was going to be hard to shove them all back in that emotional box he’d nailed shut years ago. Jon was thankful Renee had pulled back because if he had it his way he’d been coaxing her up the stairs and into their bedroom by now even if their family were knocking on the door any second, he just couldn’t resist her. “You’re naughty - you should never lie to your family.” Jon said obviously joking as he looked down at her with a smirk “I’m kinda glad you told them that little white lie because i’m gonna be bummed out the second we’ve got to pack our shit and leave for work again, this shit just goes to damn quick.” Jon agreed, not even wanting to think about them having to get back to work and hardly see each other for days on end. “Good man, she’s a real hard working gal.” he said to her family with a smile just happy they had a mutual subject to talk about aka Renee. When Carole agreed to have a drink with them he celebrated “That’s my girl.” he said as he poured them the drinks. Watching her mom take down the whiskey was entertainment all in itself and when she started to squirm he couldn’t help but laugh “You might want this…” he said as he continued to laugh then passed her over the remainder of the coke that should’ve probably been in the glass beforehand. “I mean after putting up with Renee for like your whole life… you’re probably gonna want this…” Jon explained to Matt as he took the champagne from his hand and replaced it with the whiskey like he’d made for Renee and her mom “You’ve gotta as well before you decline… it’s Christmas…” he said with an innocent smile. Just as they were laughing the front door knocked which set off Blue to come running down the stairs barking and Jon’s stomached dropped at the thought it could be his mom. “Fucking hell…” he said under his breath as he maneuverer around the family to try and get to the front door. He inhaled deeply and exhaled before opened the door to reveal his mom standing in front of him “Jonathan!” She said with a bright smile as though herself and Jon were the best of friends. Jon stood there for a moment not even for one believing she made it to Vegas, two believing she made it to their neighbourhood and three believing the people at the gate actually let her in. “Who paid you to come here?” he replied sarcastically but he was just in shock that she even turned up. “Your house is huge… it’s beautiful!” She exclaimed as she admired the front of their home but all Jon could picture was the cogs in her mind turning as she thought about how much money he probably earned now that she could ‘borrow’.  He saw right through her ‘good guy’ act and knew in a second she could turn into the fickle women he’d grown to tolerate but despite it all she did show up and having her there did mean something to him so he gave her a hug which happened to shock the both of them “Come in, Renee’s family are here.” Jon said as he entered their home then stopped in his tracks and turned to her again “and don’t put anything in your fucking purse.” he warned her reminding her of what she’d done across him in the past because he never forgot that kind of shit. The moment his mom saw Renee she greeted her with open arms and way too much affection for Jon’s liking because he knew she wasn’t like that “Renee! God you’re beautiful!” his mom said as she pulled back from the hug and got a good look at her face, surprised in her son for choosing such a lovely looking woman “I’d check your pockets…” Jon said as he followed behind his mom insinuating that she’d probably robbed the content of her purse just in that one hug. “Renee this is my lovely mother.” he introduced her in an obviously sarcastic tone and did the same back “and this is my wife Renee.” not in a sarcastic tone this time.

When he placed her arms behind her back she smiled up at him his roughness admittedly turning her on a little as she bit her bottom lip, “might have to be something we get into tonight when everyone else is in bed.” She winked at him before standing on her tiptoes to kiss him quickly just because she couldn’t help herself. “Exactly we can do whatever we want to this place and no one can tell us no but we are not knocking that wall out just saying.” She laughed. When he told her this meant a lot she couldn’t help but smile as she looked at him wondering if there was something he wasn’t telling her but she didn’t want to pry either she knew he’d tell her eventually like he always did, “I’m so happy to hear you say that babes.” She said with the same smile on her face. “I have been naughty, you might need to punish me for that tonight.” She said as she flashed her eyebrows at him before laughing lightly, “exactly and that’s why I had to tell them a little white lie, we barely get to spend any time together even with us on the road together so I wanna enjoy my man’s company as much as I can before we have to leave again just you and me no one else.” She admitted, happy that he agreed with her about wanting to spend as much time together as possible before they went back on the road. Renee couldn’t help but laugh as she watched her mom trying to get the drink down they could drink wine all day together but she’d never seen her mom try to drink hard liquor and it was pretty entertaining she had to admit. When Jon handed her the rest of the coke Carole thanked him before pouring it in with the jack and taking another sip before nodding, “much better.” She laughed as she sat the glass back down. “Hey!” Renee said as Jon spoke to Matt, “If anyone was a pain in the ass it was him. I was the only girl out of all male cousins and a brother” She laughed as she pointed at Matt making Matt laugh as he thanked Jon for the drink and took a sip, “she wasn’t too bad, we did like tormenting her though.” He continued to laugh and took another sip. Renee looked at jon when she heard the doorbell and blue’s barking, “you guys stay in here for a moment.” She told her mom before following jon out of the kitchen but stood in the door way as he walked to the door and answered it, when she saw who she figured was his mom standing on the other side she smiled as she crossed her arms and watched them, happy that she actually showed up for Jon’s sake but it also put a bit of dread in the pit of her stomach after hearing jon talk about her. As she made her way through the living room renee walked down the couple of steps meeting them half way before giving her a hug, “thank you.” She laughed as she pulled back from the hug and looked at her for a moment, she could definitely see Jon in her especially the eyes. “I have nothing in my pockets.” Renee laughed as she looked up at jon. “It’s nice to finally meet you.” She said with a smile then when Jon called her his wife she looked up at him confused, “girlfriend. I’m his girlfriend.” She corrected him with a small laugh as she hit jon playfully. “Come into the kitchen, we’re just eating and drinking and catching up.” She said as she moved out of her way so she could walk into the kitchen then when his mom’s back was to then she grabbed Jon’s hand and gave it a squeeze as she smiled up at him letting him know everything was going to be okay.

“and if you start rushing around I’m gonna have to tie you down to the couch so you’ve got no choice but to sit and enjoy your time with your family.” Jon chuckled but was also serious because if she didn’t sit and enjoy what she’d put together he’d have to take things to the next level and make sure she couldn’t move. “Hey your little New York apartment was decorated nice but I guess you’ve got a hell of a lot more to work with here… you’ve made it look awesome honestly.” he couldn’t help but compliment the place, nothing put Jon in the ‘christmas mood’ but walking into their home and seeing all the lights and the big tree just gave him that cookie cutter Christmas feel. “Alright alright I’ll shut my mouth.” Jon said as he held his hands up in submission whilst laughing at how disgusted she was getting about it all. The moment she placed her hand on his cheeks the rosier they got as his smile got a little bit bigger then when she kissed him he held her there for a moment just to savour the kiss before also pulling himself back. Secretly Jon was relieved to hear Renee wanted next years Christmas to be a quiet one considering it would give them the time they needed to enjoy their huge home and just do whatever they wanted without having to worry about making sure everyone else was doing alright as well “Y’know Blondie I’m kinda relieved to hear that since me and you just relaxing for a few days watching those corny christmas movies we were talking about earlier sounds like a dream, we can cut up some paper and make some fake snow.” he chuckled happy that they both agreed on next years plans already without having to worry about have that big conversation when the time came. Jon laughed as her family admitted it was still weird to see Renee on their screens every week “She’s killing it though huh? Best backstage announcer they’ve had in my opinion… i definitely ain’t bias.” he replied with a chuckle but was glad to see they were all proud of Renee, as they should be. “I’ll fix you up something special…” Jon replied to David and smirked knowing he could unleash the bar they’d had fitted full potential but since Renee moved all the alcohol into the kitchen he had to work with the counter tops. He was kinda heart warmed to hear Carole saying she was proud of both of them as he hadn’t really heard that from people “Thanks momma C - you’ve got a real interior decorator on your hands as well…” he commented referring to Renee and the fact that she’d styled the whole place and made it look exactly like they planned, the perfect mix of everything they loved and the desert theme they were looking for. Jon excitedly slapped the counter when Renee said she was up for some hard liquor “Now things are getting interesting.” he smirked and grabbed a few glasses “Carole it’s Christmas you’ve gotta have one as well i don’t make the rules…” he insisted and grabbed Carole one of their special whiskey glasses “Special glass for a special lady wouldn’t you say?” Jon said to Carole as he unscrewed the bottle on the whiskey. Jon’s whiskey were 97% whiskey and 3% coke so they were in for a treat “You’ve just gotta free hand it… it’s the best way.” he said as he poured as much as he thought was necessary into each glass before topping it with the tiniest drizzle of coke “We call that the… well we don’t really call it anything it just gets you wasted.” Jon chuckled as he passed the glasses over to Renee and Carole then leaned against the counter after grabbing his own. “Well at least you got here safe thats all that matters.” he said with a little smile before raising his glass as a toast just before taking a sip.

“I’d rather you tie me down to the bed.” She smiled as she winked up at him but she knew what jon meant he just wanted her to enjoy her family while she had the chance and she was going to that’s why she’d been running around all day trying to get everything perfect so she could enjoy the next couple of days and not have to do anything. “Thanks babes I actually loved the apartment especially the view of the city I had. Yea I definitely have more to work with here not to mention it’s ours and not rented like my apartment was. Thanks babes I’m really glad you like it, I wanted our first Christmas here to be special and for you to actually enjoy Christmas this year and not wish you were in some bad getting drunk.” She said with a smile since she really did all of this for him so he could see what a real Christmas was like not for her family like he probably thought. Christmas music was flowing through the house with the signature crackle from Renee’s record player and the Good household was flowing with Christmas spirit. Jon had already had a few too many glasses of champagne Renee had set out for her family once they arrived but his excuse was simply ‘it was Christmas’ which seemed to let him get away with pretty much anything this time of the year. This was the first time Jon had met her extended family and their kids so he had to admit he was a little bit nervous, he knew Renee always wanted him to be toned down but he worried after a few drinks he’d derail and go back to normal. Aside from the worry Jon had ended up falling in love with this time of year, before Renee Christmas was just him going to the strip and drinking until he couldn’t see straight but now he was being introduced to family values and being surrounded by love - he finally saw what all the hype was about surround Christmas. He had no idea what was in store, all he knew was that her family were arriving in t-minus two hours and Renee was running around trying to get everything perfect. The dogs were jingling around the house in their Christmas jumpers looking like elves and the tree was lighting up their living room whilst the sun began to set over the Nevada mountains, everything just seemed perfect. Jon was strolling down their hallway with a champagne in hand and bumped into a rushing Renee and without another word held her hand to stop her in her tracks. He looked down at her with a little smile and released her hand so he could wrap the free arm around her waist and began singing to ‘Have Yourself A Merry Little Christmas’ in his best Sinatra he could muster. Jon danced with her in the hallway as he continued to sing to her, rocking their bodies slowly as they turned their bodies hoping to get her to just take a moments break with him and enjoy the moments they had alone before they were stampeded by the family.

When he felt her body melt into his he couldn’t help but instantly feel a sense of relaxation as well just knowing his girl was finally settling down and not running around panicking. Jon lay his hand on the back of her head as she rested it against his chest “No more running around now Blondie, just chill out.” he said to her just thinking of her wellbeing because he knew by the time she’d have chance to enjoy what she’d created she’d be too burnt out to even join in the family moments that were taking place. “This place looks real nice all Christmassy I gotta give it to you.” he said whilst looking at all the lights glimmering around their home knowing it would be nothing without the hard work Renee had put into making it. “Can you imagine… I’ve got a hunch that you’re gonna look just like your mom when we get old anyway so I’m kinda already with you mom… but it’s you…” he chuckled but then started to laugh as Renee pushed him knowing that never failed to get to her and that’s why he always did it. Jon didn’t want to get his hopes up concerning his mom because he knew that she had a tendency of letting him down but also knew that there was a small possibility she’d turn up just for the free alcohol “I dunno if she’s exactly a miracle… I’d consider her more like a … Christmas weird happening.” he chuckled just trying to ignore the little part of his brain that craved the idea of his mom turning up on their doorstep on Christmas Eve like those corny Christmas movies they were discussing earlier. Renee helped Jon ignore those thoughts the moment she moved his hair from out of his eyes and he couldn’t help but smile showing those rosey red cheeks again “I love you.” he said whilst he continued to smile down at her knowing even if his mother didn’t turn up that night as long as she was there with him then he couldn’t care less. “Maybe next year we can fly up there and you’ll get to have some of the white stuff… and the snow.” Jon flashed his eyebrows before busting out laughing, he also knew Renee was probably missing the snow and had made a little mental note that maybe next year they should head up north to have a white Christmas, it was only fair. When the guys let him know they were fans it made Jon feel a little more comfortable knowing that they probably already had a good idea of who he was and how he acted so he didn’t need to slowly coax them into a false sense of security before bursting out his real personality “Thanks man, I’m a big fan of Renee.” he replied because he was just a little awkward but always wanted to make a joke out of things especially since he sometimes didn’t know how to react to people who were family saying they were fans of his work, he hadn’t mastered that skill yet. “The fat dog might decide to come and sleep with you as well so if you hear some kind of grunting and snorting in the middle of the night it ain’t an overweight ghost.” he warned them knowing Blue was a sucker for a cuddle in the middle of the night and loved to frequently frighten the crap out of Renee at three am by snorting in her face. After making himself acquainted with everyone he had a little catch up with Renee’s brother as they’d also met before and finished the conversation with “It’s been over five minutes without a beverage… gotta top up.” just so he could head into the kitchen and see Renee and her mom “Look at this… my two favourite gals together in our kitchen…” Jon said and stood in between Renee and her mom and put his arm around the two of them “It ain’t bad is it? I think we did alright.” he said to Carole referring to their kitchen feeling pretty proud to present it to her. Jon then noticed the two were already drinking champagne “Straight to the champagne, my kinda girl.” he smirked at Renee’s mom before grabbing himself a glass and pouring himself a jack daniels and splashing a drop of coke in before throwing some ice in and turning back around to the Renee and her mom “How was the flight?”

When she felt his hand rest of the back of her head she smiled into his chest as she moved one of her arms from around his neck and laid it on his back before rubbing it softly, “I am babes I promise, I’m done for the day now I just wanna enjoy the last few minutes I have alone with my man then when my family gets here I just wanna get drunk and eat while I spend time with my favorite person in the whole wide world and my family that I hardly ever get to see.” She said against his chest with a small smile knowing jon only had her wellbeing in mind and wanted her to be able to enjoy the next couple of days without crashing. “Thanks babes I’m pretty proud of it if I do say so myself, I’ve never had a beautiful house to decorate for Christmas just my apartment in New York and i went to my mom’s for Christmas anyway so no point in really decorating.” She said as she looked around their house with him admiring her handy work with a small smile on her face. “Ew ew shut up right now please.” She laughed as she placed her hands over her ears knowing jon was just saying all that because it got to her and he just loved getting under her skin anyway he could. When she noticed the rosey cheek smile he was giving her she couldn’t help but melt like always as she smiled back at him before letting one of her hands rest on one of his rosey cheeks, “I love you too baby.” She continued to smile as she stood on her tiptoes and kiss him quickly as her thumb started to stroke his cheek while she pulled back from his lips. “Actually next year I just want a quiet Christmas at home just me, you and blue. No traveling, no family, no pressure, no nothing just me and my two favorite guys sitting around the Christmas tree drinking beer and watch Christmas movies.” She laughed as he flashed his eyebrows at her but she was serious she’d already thought about it next year she wanted to enjoy Christmas just her and Jon by themselves for the first time without all the expectations people had about Christmas, just a chilled back relaxed Christmas sounded perfect to her. When he responded that he was a big fan of renee the guys chuckled with a shrug, “she’s alright I guess. Still can’t believe little Renee that I grew up with is on my tv once a week it’s still weird to us.” One of them said as he continued to chuckle, renee’s family had still yet to grasp that she was on tv now and on something they actually watched. “Yea a drink sounds kinda great after the long flight I’ll come with you.” David, renee’s brother agrees as he followed jon into the kitchen. Both Renee and Carole turned their attention to Jon when he walked over to them and put his arms around each of their shoulder, “it’s not bad at all, I can’t wait to get in here and help renee cook this kitchen is amazing. You guys did fantastic the whole house is amazing, I’m so happy and proud of both of you.” Carole told jon before taking a sip of her champagne. When she got all excited over the fact that Jon admitted he was looking forward to the festivities he couldn’t help but laughed and wrapped his arms around her in return “It’s all thanks to you sugar. It’s gonna be a completely different thing this year… like an actual family gathering… Christmas dinner… things I thought only excited on those corny Christmas movies.” Jon held her for a little longer knowing how much this all meant to her and how much this all also secretly meant to him as well, Renee was the first person that cared enough to want to make an effort for Christmas and make sure everything was perfect but to him just having her and a Christmas tree would’ve topped any Christmas he’d ever had - anything on top was just an added bonus. “If things were different I could’ve been your step daddy…” Jon smirked as he always teases Renee that his mom was in love with him and they had a ‘special connect’ since he thought he had some kind of magnetism for older women even if that wasn’t exactly the case he still liked to tease her about it. He recalled the day she met his father and how nervous he was to introduce her to his weird family but if that turned out well then he shouldn’t really be worried about any other family gathering again. When she kept the kiss for a few moments longer Jon couldn’t help but let his hands glide down to her ass so he could give it a little squeeze as he kissed her back also knowing he’d not be able to do that for a few days which pained him more than anything. When she mentioned that his ass was his best side he couldn’t help but laugh and slapped it as he headed on into the living room. Jon sighed in relief when Renee was cool with his mom possibly stopping by “You’re right she’ll fit right in if she comes when everyone is drunk… she might now show up at all I don’t even know if they’ll let her through the gates but… just warning ya.” he was always embarrassed of his own mother and it just made it double when it came to her being around Renee’s family who he’d tried to keep a good reputation around. “Fuck that, housing all of your family around here would have us filing for bankruptcy!” he laughed along with her but like the idea of a full house at Christmas, it just seemed ‘traditional’ at least in his mind anyway. When she opened the door Jon was relieved to see Carole enter first and smiled as she came over and greeted him quietly gushing over how she called him her ‘future son in law’ something about that just made him melt “There’s my beautiful momma!” Jon said with a big smile as he embrace Carole feeling at home already, she just gave off a mother’s love like he’d never experienced, it was a mix of happiness and security and it was addicting. After hugging Renee’s mom he noticed the tribe of beautiful women walk through the door ‘strong genetics…’ Jon thought to himself and as she introduced her family he hugged the ladies and shook the hands of the men as Renee called their names out “Right house rules…” Jon said trying to act intimidating before going back to his usual posture and saying “Anything alcoholic… just drink it. Put your shit anywhere… actually if you put your foot on anything under 3 foot tall the fat dog might eat it…. gotta be weary of that. Swim in the pool… eat whatever… just y’know… if Renee shouts at ya just know I’m the cool one.” Jon nudged Renee jokingly and noticed the kids staring at him so Jon crouched down “Sup little dude…” he said to one of the boys and held his hand out for him to slap.

I want you to feel like you’re living in one of those corny Christmas movies this year.” She said as she smiled into his chest as she closed her eyes and just enjoyed the moment and the feeling of being wrapped in his arms which Renee loved more than anything not to mention it was her favorite place in the world. “Ick that’s so gross to think about, not just you being my step daddy but also just thinking about you and my mom being together in that way.” She said before pretending to gag then pushed him playfully for even bringing that up because now it was gonna be running through her head all day, the last thing she needed with her mom and the rest of her family in their house. Renee also thought about the day the took a road trip down to Ohio so she could meet his dad and see where he grew up and how nervous she was to meet him, she wanted to make a good first impression and have his approval since jon didn’t have a lot of family that he actually spoke to she knew meeting his dad was a big deal and getting his approval was an even bigger deal but everything turned out great she realized his dad was just like Jon and she was sure he loved her as much as her mom loved jon. “Maybe she’ll show up out of curiosity, wanting to see the new house and what kinda alcohol we’ll be serving. Maybe that will be your Christmas miracle babes, your mom coming to spend Christmas with us.” She smiled up at him as she ran her fingers through his hair to push it out of his face. “Exactly we would all just have to fly to Canada to spend Christmas at my mom’s then, at least the bright side would be I got my white Christmas again this year.” She replied as she laughed with him but she definitely wasn’t willing to sacrifice their house for a white Christmas she loved their house too much. As Jon shook some of the guys hands they commented about being big fans and how happy they were to finally meet him and not just because he was dating renee. While Jon went over the house rules renee looked up at him with a smile as she listened to what he had to say then when he nudged her she laughed lightly as she nudged him back, “speaking of the fat dog he’s around here somewhere, if you run into him his name is blue and he is very friendly but yea like Jon said just watch out for your food he will eat anything and everything.” She said with a laugh. As Jon was getting to know her cousin’s son she looked at Sarah his mother, “your guys room is upstairs first door on the right, mom your room is upstairs second door on the left, there is a half bathroom downstairs down the hall and the big bathroom is the first door on the left upstairs I already put towels in there from mine and Jon’s bathroom. There’s plenty of food and alcohol in the kitchen if you guys are hungry. Just make yourself at home.” She told them all with a smile before she took her mom’s hand and led her into the kitchen, as her mom admired the huge kitchen renee poured them both a glass of champagne and left it out for the others that followed them so they could help themselves to some.

Jon couldn’t put into words how much he appreciated Renee putting all of her thought into making the house look good for their first Christmas in their new home, it was enough to even get him excited for the occasion “Y’know this whole thing you’ve put together has actually got me looking forward to the whole Christmas thing… looks kinda fun.” he had to admit and knew it would completed break his scrooge persona he’d developed over the many years of hating the holiday that was all about spending time with family. He couldn’t imagine Christmas with a family feeling but he knew he was going to get the full experience this season and it still made him smile knowing that holidays such as this were finally going to get celebrated in the right way in his life, he must’ve been about 16 the last time he remembered spending Christmas anything remotely like this. Renee was right at least he’d won the love of her mother but Jon adored her she was great, just an older version of Renee so what wasn’t there to love about her? “Me and your mom hit it off great… you’re right I just worry y’know how it is I don’t wanna be causing a scene or making things weird if I say something outta line on accident… i mean if they’re anything like your mom things should be smooth sailing.” Jon reassured himself along with Renee’s words and felt better about the whole situation and definitely knew Renee wouldn’t hesitate to kick anyone out who was getting out of line. The moment she put her hands on his shoulder he knew it was time to shut his mouth and looked down at her, instantly calming down the moment their eyes connected “I know babe sorry my minds just racing now… I ain’t usually like this what the hell is going on?!” When she confirmed she had it all under control Jon nodded and gave her a quick kiss because most of the time she was the level headed one and just needed to give him a little bit of reassurance. “I’ll grin and bear it for ya baby - just make sure you get my good side?” Jon flashed his eye brows at her as he turned his face to the left. When she mentioned his family coming along he instantly remembered something he’d forget to tell her “Ah shit…” he said quietly before turning to her “Yeah about that… I invited my mom to come… probably a stupid idea but in the moment I thought maybe she could meet your mom… then I remembered the kinda woman my mom was and I don’t think it’s such a great idea now it’s come around…” Jon scratched the back of his head as he thought about all the things that could go wrong if his mom showed up drunk or in a bad mood… “I sent her over a ticket so she could fly over here… I never heard back from her… best guess is she’s got the ticket and she’s getting free drinks by sitting on a slot machine but… she might turn up, just warning ya.” he sighed as he sometimes just wished his family were normal and they celebrated like Renee’s family but never dwelled too much on thoughts like those. “Carole welcome to our house… it’s the pile of burnt rubble over there… nice huh?” Jon laughed with her knowing that’d be the case if she let him loose in the kitchen. When she returned to him and commented on the tree he looked over at her “trees got a shitty attitude.” he responded as he laughed with her. Jon admired the amount of room with her “Yeah it’s worked out pretty well huh?” he said in shock that they’d managed to get it all figured out and there were no errors in the situation. As he was about to respond the door knocked from Renee’s family who had finally arrived and Jon looked at Renee “You’re getting that… I’m nervous!” he couldn’t help but laugh as he felt his stomach drop knowing this was the make or break moment.

When Jon confirmed he was now looking forward to the whole Christmas thing she couldn’t help but smile excitedly as she bounced on her tippy toes, “you have no idea how happy I am to hear you say that babes, I just want everyone to enjoy themselves and have a great Christmas especially you, I want you to see how great it can be with the right people around, they don’t even have to be your family just people you consider family.” She said as she continued to smile before wrapping her arms around his neck and relaxing into him as she hugged him, if anything was going to come out of this she wanted it to be Jon’s first real Christmas in a while that was honestly the only thing she cared about. “Yea you guys did which I am so happy about that was the only thing I was worried about my mom’s approval and now I honestly think she’d try to steal you away from me if she could she absolutely loves you. You don’t have to worry about causing a scene or saying anything out of line or making things weird this is our house and they are guests in our house if they don’t like it there are plenty of hotels here in Vegas they can stay at. My whole family is just like my mom they’re going to love you babes, I know they will not to mention some of the guys are wrestling fans so they already kinda know who you are.” She said with a reassuring smile. “You don’t have to be sorry babes, you just want your girlfriend’s family to like you it’s normal trust me I was the same way when I met your dad.” She replied before smiling as he leaned down to kiss her quickly but instantly placed her hand on the back of his neck to hold him in the kiss a little longer since it was getting down to the wire of her family showing up and moments like this were only gonna happen in their bedroom behind closed doors now. When he told her to get his good side she couldn’t help but laugh before saying, “I don’t think my family is gonna want your butt in all of our pictures.” She joked as she continued to laugh. “That’s not a stupid idea at all babes I think it’s a great idea it’ll be the perfect time for our mom’s to meet and I already have a few presents for her under the tree that I picked out from both of us so it’s perfect. It’s a wonderful idea babes and besides we’re all going to be drunk the next few days she’ll fit right in.” She said with a reassuring smile but she also knew how jon felt about her and how they argued sometimes but renee figured the more the merrier and she would love for his mom to show up and she thought jon secretly wished that as well. “Yea exactly and I don’t think we could afford to put everyone in a hotel this week, I mean we could but I’d also like to retire before I’m 50.” She said as she continued to laugh. “Yea it did babes, funny how things work out sometimes.” She nodded as she continued to look around the living room thinking about where to place all the beds. When she heard the knock on the door her stomach jerked nervously as she looked over at the door before nodding to what jon said as she laughed lightly before walking down the couple of steps into the living room, as she walked by Jon she pinched his ass quickly before walking to the door and opening it. “Hey!” She smiled at her mom who was standing in front of the group before giving her a hug, “your guys house is beautiful.” Carol said as she hugged her daughter before walking in and seeing Jon, “there’s my future son in law.” She said as she walked over to him and gave him a hug. After renee had hugged each of her family member as they walked in she closed the front door and made her away around the group to Jon and her mom, “this is my boyfriend jon everyone.” She introduced them before telling jon everyone’s name as she pointed them out.
