I have been thinking about The Haunting of Hill House, and of old San Francisco Bay Area houses

The upper right house is the Kohl Mansion, in Burlingame (the city Shirley Jackson grew up in)

The lower left house is the Charles Crocker mansion, San Francisco (designed by Shirley Jackson’s great-great grandfather. this house is no longer standing)

The background is the architectural plans for the first floor of the Carolands Chateau, in Hillsborough (a town bordering Burlingame)

The flowers are my own photos of flowers in the gardens of the Filoli estate, in Woodside
