we do not become monsters because evil is a stagnant state of existence. sometimes we have the innate ability to walk among shadows and other dark places because they see similarities in us that neither priests nor prayers could pluck out. sometimes we make choices that only pan out because we are capable of enjoying them. if we are monsters then we have always been monsters— simply hiding and wearing masks.

dear mentor: i love ur hair. and ur smile. and the way that you make my heart burn with the fury of a thousand suns with your smarmy ass shitty confidence and actually. you know what. nevermind. i hate you. i hate your hair. you sound like a soggy toast crumb and act like it too. please go away. thanks.
’hmm. 7/10? i mean, the compliments were nice, but your prose could definitely use some work. and insulting someone in a love letter isn’t going to win them over? some love advice for you there. i am not impressed.
i love all my fans!’

She had charm, that savage grace that is so much more powerful than any simpering or affected elegance.

Getting into the holiday spirit.
last night i woke up because two dudes were fighting underneath my window and one dude kept screaming “BRO!! BRO YOU CALLED ME A BITCH IN FRONT OF THE WHOLE BAR BRO!! THE WHOLE BAR!! WHY WOULD YOU DO THAT BRO??” he sounded so heart broken. why bro. why did you do this.
She’s not just a girl. She’s the only evidence of God that I can find on this entire planet.

Narcissism is an evil that masquerades as good. Like a Pied Piper this master illusionist can lead you to Hell all while making you feel flattered to be chosen to go there. Only when you wake up in Hell do you realize the real evil that existed in his fluted song. By then it’s too late; not only have you fallen victim, but most likely you have paid for the flute, as well.

i said to him,
"get real- don’t you know who you’re dealing with?”

(they’re the first to admit they’ve been lucky. living life with the best clothes, food, sights that dad’s money can buy. then from their tinted windows- they see girls their age dying from the demon attacks, their blood stained on the monsters’ teeth. they use their wealth to drench themselves in clothes they feel powerful in. they use expensive weapons and poisons hidden in beautiful necklaces and golden rings. their blue blood boils.)
”n—o. it’s my dad. he got a heart a—ttack a—and—-” wow, she can’t even breathe, much less speak. but she’s gonna keep trying, apparently. “we always—- told him he. needed to, um. w—work out. i didn’t even. say i lo—ve. you.”
"oh. oh." he's not sure how to react. finfolk are left to fend for themselves from birth, so the idea of parents has never been presented to him until now. to his credit, he tries. "i'm sorry, kitten. do you want to talk about it. maybe."
I mean, you look at the horror sweeping all the way up from my wrists to my elbows, and you have to take a deep breath and ask yourself, do I really want to know what happened there?
Mark Z. Danielewski, The House of Leaves (via dumahs)
marya morevna, all in black, here and now, was a point at which all the women she had been met—the yaichkan and the leningrader and the chyerti maiden; the girl who saw the birds, and the girl who never did—the woman she was and the woman she might have been and the woman she would always be, forever intersecting and colliding, a thousand birds falling from a thousand oaks, over and over.
someone tell this idiot to stop crying.
"hi, hello, are you okay. was it me. why are you crying, it was me, wasn't it. i am terrible."
