It would have been better to have a proper maester or septon make the announcement. But with the passing of both, Qyburn would have to serve. He was well-known enough that the people would listen to him. Tywin’s gaze swept the room to ensure they did, and that none of them opposed their new queen. How he felt about it, he could not say, but he would do what he could to ensure his daughter ruled well. The lords and ladies soon came to bow before her on the throne, swearing their loyalty. Then the Hand and his daughter were able to retreat from the room, granted a brief respite before they attended the Small Council (what was left of it).

Tywin regarded Cersei for a moment, his expression unreadable. “I never thought this possible,” he admitted. “But you have done what your brothers could not. You have much to learn, but you have achieved the greatest power imaginable. No doubt you will use it well, Your Grace.” So long as I can teach you how.

His anger, which was more often than not kept under better control, was released as he shouted the question down at his daughter. Standing over her with fists curled and jaw clenched, his stare hardened even more. There was no fatherly love, no warmth, no kindness in that glare. Just fury, shock, and the everlasting disappointment.

“We could have paid the debts to the Faith soon enough, given time. I would have spoken with this High Sparrow myself and find out what would best be done to have Tommen crowned. But to allow him to revive the Faith Militant...have you paid no attention to what I have taught you, Cersei? The Faith are necessary in both the lives of nobles and smallfolk, yes. But give them too much power and they will become more fanatic. And when that fanaticism grows, kings can fall. It has happened before. Are you truly naive enough to believe you can keep them in check and prevent it from happening again?”

In next week’s episode, Tywin’s gonna come back because he didn’t really die. He just had to take a break from his stupid kids because he’s getting old and decided to spent time in Braavos near the big moneymakers of the Iron Bank. He’s gonna find and save Arya because she was the only daughter he ever had and adopt her. Even though she’d probably rather kill him. But they can talk things out and form a badass team and go back to Westeros and sort out everyone else’s mess. Happy ending all round!

Having his grandson approach him was somewhat surprising, but welcome. “Not at all, Your Grace,” he replied almost amiably. “The Hand’s role is to advise and serve the king, after all.” A role that would be made much easier when the king showed the initiative to come to him. This was good; it would reduce the chance of other parties from interfering with the boy’s rule. Lord Tywin would make certain the boy grew to be a good king - one who knew who his true family was. And one who would hopefully look less uneasy than he did now. “What is it you wish to ask?”
