I've been going back n forth on whether I should make an account to share my Redact[EDD] AU stuffs or clog @nortsauce's ask box, and after a while I sadly chose the former. Right now I'm only going to post EW and specifically this AU, but I'll expand to other fandoms in the future (if I manage to get out of this fixation that is...)
Do expect more bc I still have A LOT of Redact[EDD] ideas in my backlog lolol
clone decay is a process that affects all clones and is the main reason for their short life spans. however, decay can be prevented through clone feeding.
clone feeding is when cells are extracted from the host (the person the clone is based on, often referred to as the source) and consumed by the clone. it does not matter how a clone is fed as long as the cells are absorbed into their body.
clones must be feed regularly, either in small amounts daily or in larger amounts once a week. clones cannot produce their own cells, as they are composed entirely by their source's cells. while regular food can be consumed, it does not prevent decay.
CLONE VARIATIONS
some clones may view themselves as completely separate beings from their source. they'll usually give themselves a new name and make themselves as different from their source as possible.
other clones may view themselves as if they are the original person, usually refusing to acknowledge that they are just a copy. this can lead to tension between a clone and their source. in extreme cases, a clone may attempt to replace their source altogether.
MORE CLONE FUN FACTS!
all clones are parasites. they cannot survive on their own, otherwise their bodies will decay and they will die.
it is possible, but extremely rare for a clone to be able to evolve to survive without feeding on their original source's cells. they will just need to find a different source to feed on. the chances of this evolution is more likely in mutated/fused clones, but not guaranteed.
no clone is considered a "real human." every single one is just a copy that is meant to mimic their source as closely as possible. it is impossible for a 100% perfect clone to exist.
for more context on clones are made and how clord was created, check out this post.

incase you're wondering how this all fits in my main AU (basically the normal timeline with my usual headcanons (which i realize doesn't have a title)), all of this info about clones pretty much applies the same way.
the only difference between my main AU and the clordisite AU is that tord decided to have a different focus with redeux unrelated to cloning, thus clord never was brought to life. every other clone has existed at some point in both AUs.
Edd's hands are slightly rough. Shorter fingers, especially his pinky. Has a pencil bump on each side of his hands, because I do for some reason. Bites his nails when stressed.
Tom's are the most fucked up hands you'll ever see. Never are they not covered in scratches or wounds. Either from his guitar or his drunk rampage.
Matt's are the most delicate hands in the cast (he takes good care of them). His fingers are long and boney. His hand is really veiny and pale because he's a vampire and shi. Loves painting his nails.
Tord's hands are the most rough. His skin is really dry, cause he thinks it's cooler that way. Longer and sharper nail on his pointy so he could rip something. Broken nails on other fingers that scratch unintentionally or intentionally. His hands used to be softer and smoother.
