Rand: How the fuck do people just stay motivated their entire lives? What drives you? I got out of bed once and I’ve been exhausted ever since.
Logain: You need to learn to hate life to the point where you want to get revenge on existence itself.
When someone constantly puts you down, leaves you feeling like you can’t do anything right, or makes you feel worthless or bad about yourself, that isn’t love. It’s emotional abuse.

Everybody is a genius. But if you judge a fish by its ability to climb a tree, it will live its whole life believing that it is stupid.

That’s the thing about introverts; we wear our chaos in the inside where no one can see it.

Sometimes quiet people really do have a lot to say. They’re just being careful about who they open up to.

The Netflix live action Cowboy Bebob looks so bad. I wish they would leave animated shows and movies alone, they don't need live action or CGI remakes.
If anything it should be the opposite. Remake live action stuff as cartoons (not photorealistic CGI) Also make books into cartoons, not live action... depends on the book, but especially for fantasy it generally fits way better.
A Wheel of Time headcanon
Apparently, the preferred theory is that the Chosen used the One Power to magically learn to speak the Common Tongue fluently soon after their awakening from the Bore.
What a lame shortcut.
Imagine instead that they actually had to learn it the regular way. While it is commonly agreed that the Chosen are all relatively intelligent and educated, that doesn’t necessarily mean that they’re good at learning new languages (not everyone is, no matter how smart).
I like to believe that Asmodean is one extreme, and Demandred the other.
Despite his strength in the Power, Asmodean is usually considered the weakest of the Chosen; he’s cowardly and sort of useless. But I like to think that he had the easiest time learning the Common Tongue – finally something other than music that he was good at, but which he used mainly to write new songs that the uncouth peasants of the Third Age could understand, since no one remembers the great classics he composed during the Age of Legends.
Demandred, on the other hand… By all accounts, he was the second most acclaimed man in the Age of Legends. We all know that he felt quite, um, bitter about that “second” part, but that still means he was the second most accomplished man in the world at that time, and therefore likely talented and capable in many fields. But I want to believe that he had enormous trouble learning new languages, including the Common Tongue. I want to believe that he mixed up words and struggled with pronunciations, all of which had to be so alien to him (let’s face it, the two Tongues have virtually nothing in common). I want to believe that he spoke in an accent so thick that his cover was in danger of being blown – which is why he eventually gave up and moved to Shara because he knew that isleh was closer to the Old Tongue, so he wouldn’t risk being outed as one of the Chosen.
Similarly, I like to think that Semirhage moved to Seanchan for that same reason. Imagine her, so cold and calculated and poised (like Demandred), but growing more and more frustrated with that new, barbarian language and eventually just deciding to move to the one place where the Old Tongue is still in use (sort of).
Ishamael, of course, wouldn’t have that problem… He basically learned the Common Tongue as it was invented. Which is why I relish the idea that he dedicated a few hours of his busy Chosen schedule to teach the rudiments of the Common Tongue to his peers, as soon as they awakened from their slumber.
list of favorite things as a fanfic author:
When someone is really freaking mad at me for inducing an emotional response from them
when readers give me a background of how/when they read my writing
when readers give me a background of why they shouldn’t have been reading my writing (usually while at work)
when readers quote my work back to me in comments
the frickin’ real heroes here, the ones who comment on every chapter of an ongoing multi-chapter fic
It is a truth universally acknowledged that when canon screws you over, you throw it out a window and write fix it fic.

Posted chapter 22 of The Trials of Asmodean yesterday, and I am bored so I made this. Link to the story: https://archiveofourown.org/works/23106091/chapters/55281928
Mazrim Taim: Henry Ian Cusick
Asmodean: Aidan Turner
The Asha'man loyal to Mazrim Taim were portrayed as badly as the Slytherins, IMO. I still refuse to believe that all the members of Slytherin House were appallingly unsavory (ambition and cunning do not make a person evil, J.K.!); nor do I think that all of Taim’s supporters would’ve exuded visibly dark and unpleasant vibes. Whatever else could be said of Taim, he was a true leader who knew how to achieve results. Were some of his methods harsh? Absolutely. But, well, it was a war, after all. (I am not in any way endorsing his decisions to forcibly Turn people, however.) Anyway, end rant. LOL. I am, and always will be, Team M'Hael.
The image I made for Echoes of Thunder Anthology back in June 2019. Wow. Time really flies. I think I learned a lot since then… (I hope, lol).
Noooooo I’m not reusing the same tropes in all my WIPs, I’m just (checks notes) “creating an author brand”
I don’t have a narrative kink I have a (looks over your shoulder) “signature style”
Hi, Neil! How do you stay focused while writing? For some reason I am having a very hard time not being distracted when I try to work on a story- even with this ridiculous amount of Quarantine Free Time. Any advice?
Pretty much everyone I know (including me) is dealing with the gulf between “I suddenly have all this time, whee I am going to write all the things,” and “why aren’t I getting everything written? Why am I confused and distracted and worried?”
And all I can say is, you aren’t alone in this. Be kind to yourself. Nothing quite like this has happened in living memory, we don’t know how it’s going to end, and the world is unsafe and different. All of that takes headspace. More if you’re mourning people.
So forgive yourself, be kind to yourself, and look out at your world from the place of “ANYTHING I get written during lockdown times is a small (or not so small) victory”.
