The birth of Tar Pit!
In lieu of putting Barry and Wally face-to-face for the first time, there’s been enough narrative reason to keep Allen away from Harrison, but with the hatred simmered down, it’s about time Harry begins to once again sell out Allen, pushing him over that edge by stealing speed and listening to Allen discuss how being a bit slower put someone he loves in danger is very nicely done; probably the best theme of the season. As noble as him coming clean is, Allen’s speech about not judging Wells for his betrayal is more elegant because he has grown into a leader, a man who sees another man worked into a corner, and so instead of punishing him, he decides to help him. Going back to Zoom, we will most likely get the reveal in a few more episodes, but we’ll take another opportunity to go over who might secretly be the big bad. Flash is playing more coy with keeping his secret than with Eobard, so whenever the “unmasking” happens, it will definitely be one of the biggest moments. Who might Zoom be? We learn the counterpart of Jay is Hunter Zolomon. Ironically, of all suspects, Zolomon ranks at the bottom because Zoom comes from another world, it’s way too obvious, and there’s no development for his character, so it seems like the name-drop is just fan service. Garrick talks about stopping Zoom all the time, but what if all isn’t as it seems? What if he has been Zoom? The problem with this is he has no speed, leading to him dying of an illness. Easy explanation? Jekyll and Hyde syndrome. As Garrick, he’s nice and all, but when he’s Zoom, he’s monstrous. That’s why he wants Flash’s speed, believing it will fix him.
