"Me?? Lie!?" They gasp. "How DARE you accuse me of such things?" They respond with a sarcastic and carefree tone, attempting to surpress nearly uncontrollable laughter. "I will have you sued for defamation, you know? I plead not guilty!" Chara put their free hand onto their chest, as if swearing to tell the truth and nothing but the truth.
Even if they'd usually tease Asriel for crying, they decided that it's better to keep their mouth shut. After all, if Asriel had done the same for them, they would have a similiar - if not, the same reaction.
Chara almost hated it; how much their brother reminded them of themselves in the past, that is. It was always a reminder of the days up above, of what things have been done to them and what they have become.
It wasn't a nice reminder to say the least, but the most they could do is grind their teeth and smile.
They were still happy for Asriel, and Chara doesn't want to take his innocence away from him. Just because they suffered doesn't mean he should suffer as well.
Chara quickly dismisses this train of thought so they don't accidentally zone out.
"Only the best things for the best-est brother! I'll show you where I got them, but you must not tell a soul! Now, come on!" Without any prior warning, they pulled Asriel by his arm and started rushing to Snowdin.
Asriel would never be under the impression Chara was struggling.
While theyβd fallen down &. seemed distressed when heβd offered to help, it never quite raised some alarm bells. Heβd only thought they were dazed from the fall.
Chara was hurt. There was a lasting bitterness deep within their soul that no amount of trying could wash away. There was no safe way for them to heal right now, so they had to make do with what little good they "still could do."
If he knew the extent of what Chara had gone through, Asriel would try. He'd try to better understand what they were fighting, &. better to understand why they did things that made them inherently bad.
Because theyβd never mean to be a bad person, it was their hurt that influenced the things they did.
Before anything else, Asriel is tugged down through the staircase to the basement &. beyond the doors. He knows he requested this, but now a pit in his stomach is forming. Maybe they shouldn't be doing this ...
As he fights back his instinct, Asriel sputters, #οΎ α΄ βββ β Um ... maybe this wasnβt such a good idea ... β Asriel clenches his feet in the snow, grimacing at the coldness. Why didnβt he think to put on some boots ?
β A-Arenβt you cold ? β
