I wish people would stop twisting Hank’s words in that scene.

Hank’s words are pretty direct here. That is not a comparison between Connor and Cole. That is Hank being forced to think about the permanence of human death. This line doesn't mean "Connor reminds Hank of Cole" or "Hank sees Connor as a son," the logic of the line is: Connor died and came back, humans cannot do that, Cole is never coming back. It is about death, grief, and the difference between android mortality and human mortality. Hank is not saying Connor is like Cole. He is not saying Connor takes Cole’s place. He is not comparing them as children. And the rest of the scene is about Hank’s disappointment in Connor/androids: he talks about believing in Connor, then says androids turned out to be selfish, ruthless, and brutal like humans. That context is about his lost faith in androids and the world, not about Connor being son-like. How hard is it to understand that and not twist Hank’s words into something they are not?

So yes, people can have a paternal reading if they want and if they remember it is just a headcanon. But this scene still does not prove that Hank sees Connor as his kid, and it does not actually connect Connor and Cole in the way people often claim it does.
