“I was a bit p*ssed off about something, when we were in the band and there was a lot of animosity going on, i got this little skull design and it says ‘we are the quiet ones’ because we were never allowed to say anything, nobody wanted to ‘tarnish’ the image of whatever was going on, so trying to hide a bunch of stuff bleeds over into your normal life as well as playing whatever character it is you play as a celebrity or a performer”

Liam again: “ i use to get off stage and then you’d be that high off all the endorphins, whatever, get horrendously drunk, get up at like 5 o’ clock in the afternoon, and then do it all again. But we used to come off the stage, because, at the time, towards the end of it, when we were that busy, it was like, you would. We’d write the album in two weeks. The problem we had is that they used to sell the tour before we’d written the album. So they’d sell the tour and be alright, “We’ve sold the stadium.” Because we knew, it was going really well. The one thing i say to people is, getting into all this sort of stuff is, the success is the bit that will kill ya more than anything. When it’s not successful, you’re just kind of working harder at it depending on the person you are. But most of the time, the successful bit, it just scared the sh*t out of me and i wanted nothing to do with it, i had no personal life. I learned nothing about myself. Like, i remember getting into therapy one time and the guy was like, “What do you like to do?” I didn’t know. I haven’t got a clue. So i just sat there in the chair going like, “what do i actually like?” I just lived so long as this like reclusive pop star who was afraid of people, who just starved inside all the time.”

Liam talking about the split: “ It was really scary at first, but i needed to stop definitely. It would’ve killed me.”

“In the end, i really genuinely do think that we need the break that we had because it was just getting so hectic like we would literally be at award shows and we’d never- We’d win the most awards of the night and then never see the afterparty. We’d already be on a plane going somewhere else to do the next show to go somewhere else, just by the end of it, it was just like, we were kids man.”

Liam about the role he played “All the boys would be causing trouble and being destructive, i would get a call saying that i had to be the one to stop it and sort them out, i had to be the one to sort out a bunch of 17-19 year olds with me also being the same age i wasn’t allowed to be a kid” ( This isn’t word for word)

I think it’s noteworthy how he said he was afraid of making fun songs last time... I think this time around, and after being on tour, he just wanted to do more groove, fun songs. Specially because he has been on tour, he knows what works better and what doesn’t. And I think he wanted people to have more fun in his concerts and dance more. And hence the album. With different melodies. More danceable. More fun. I think that was his priority this time around and maybe the lyrics were 2nd plan

Yes I agree, basically HS1 was lyrics > melodies, HS2 is melodies first, lyrics later. I don’t think they are as personal as HS1 lyrics were, and like I said it’s fine. I enjoy both albums for their differences tbh.
