Microdosing Darrow au Adromedus by desperately trying to befriend the popular kids
in my silver honda civic, straight up hittin it. and by "it" haha, well. lets justr say. a quaint suburban tree.
I refuse to believe/accept the āHat of Deathā thing that Pierce Brown uses to off characters. Like wdym?? ALL THOSE PEOPLE R DEAD BCZ THEY GOT PICKED?
Dear Pax? Baby Ulysses? How could he? Fitchner? Ragnar? Dnacer? DAXO! Ephraim? Alexander! Oh god and more and more.
Like i believe some were for the plot and others to build a plot around. But DAMN.
CASSIUS
Pierce is the real villain
we have some angst coming up
stole from reddit
red rising edition? please have a go
This was fun.
I will say the two areas were its like, ā like the design, dislike the character/dislike design, like the character,ā iām understanding it as;
I like what this character added to the story, but i hate that fucking bitch and,
I really enjoyed this character but there was some lacking in rounded character depth im missing out on.
Itās insane that two different bitches with horrendous face scars are both such intense antagonists in different ways. But without them, there is less motivation to this story I believe. Because harmony realistically is what can easily happen to people who have lost their sanity and choose revenge instead of rebirth.
In cassisus and electraās cases, they are both secondary characters that have a bit of static to them. Cassius is set up to be in the story really only when darrow needs a brother, someone to build him up and to keep him afloat the way sometimes only family can. Cassius is only ever relevant when we see his influence to others, like darrow and lysander. Electra is essentially the same to Pax au augustus. she doesnāt have a rounded personality and while sheās eccentric, it doesnāt feel like she can operate on her own, without relying on paxās character to work well. if that makes sense. i love her character so much, and sheās hilarious but i wish we could see more of her.
Light Bringer Spoilers!!:
Lmfao Darrow did the horse trick again, what is it with him and hiding in the stomachs of larger creatures? I do feel for that poor sea beast.
On a more serious not I think there's something to be said about this parallel coming right when FINALLY we are back to basics as to WHY it is that the Republic is fighting. It's as if finally acknowledging that spark is what was fundementally missing from the previous disastrous battles. I cried a bit in the speeches made to the daughters. I don't wanna get too hopeful but it feels as if things are finally gonna start working out because of the trust in our fellows.
Now I just need Volga to LOCK IN PLEASE WHAT ARE YOU DOING.
LIGHT BRINGER SPOILERS

posting here about rr is kinda like showing up to a class about the series that's always meeting and students can just stop by whenever
itās like im checking my emails and each post is a either delightful analytical approach to the series, or horny fans.
and most of the time itās both.
Iāve finally finished this š«©
I remember seeing a reddit thread once where a user was asking for the section in one of the books that described Aja au Grimmus, because they wanted to draw her, and only remembered she was dark skinned. and someone replied in the comments that no one in RR is black. at all. which is so obviously wrong, and even when people brought up characters being described as having dark skin, or even being lightskin and described as tan or olive, the user insisted that the genetic pool was so mixed that black people didnāt exist anymore withināto my understandingāeither the Society in total, or just the Golds.
And while there are so many characters having been described as having a deeper skin tone, I believe that one of the most clear examples is when Colloway xe Char is introduced and it literally labels him with ebony skin.
like why is bro fighting so hard against a future where darkskinned people exist.
yeah, so, this is completely false on every level, including the textual, and anyone who believes it either has crazy cognitive dissonance or is just being dishonest.
the Grimmuses are not genetically mixed to the point of lacking any distinct racial features--none of the Golds are, except maybe Bronzies, who are in fact singled out for having mixed, and therefore "weakened," bloodlines. but every other prominent Gold House--Grimmus, Bellona, Augustus, Saud, etc.--are directly descended from at least one Earth population. the Grimmuses are specifically African and North American. christ y'all, that is directly stated in the books. they are Black.
moreover, it is true that low and midColors are more genetically diverse than Golds, but to say that they are never distinctly one race or ethnicity is also false. PB has directly stated that Ephraim, a Gray, appears more Southeast Asian than other characters, despite also being of mixed ethnicity, because SEA is more dominant in him. it is just wildly implausible that after 700 years, people would be so genetically homogenous, no one would ever show features characteristic of one particular race/ethnicity. like, no. they obviously all have at least a couple genetic lines that show more prominently.
interestingly, this excuse always gets brought up when people talk about the characters that are either overtly stated to be people of color, or at the very least, are extremely heavily coded toward a certain race--Lyria, Orion, Colloway, the Nakamuras, the Grimmuses, etc (i've literally had people fight me on the Nakamuras being East Asian as if PB just spun a wheel and chose that name for no particular reason, as if coding is not a thing basically every author does)... but, interestingly, people have no problem headcanoning, drawing, and describing the characters as distinctly white. if this flimsy excuse were really true, no one should look white and/or European, either. everyone should look like a perfect average of every race. yet everyone is happy to picture/depict the Bellonas, the Augustuses, Darrow, etc. etc. etc. as having fair skin and eurocentric features. curious! (not saying anyone's wrong for drawing them that way!! but the !! double standard ???)
it is racism, plain and simple. they are not comfortable with having canonically non-white characters in the books, especially ones who also hold positions of power, or are likable and endearing. PoC characters who aren't antagonists or die gruesomely are already so scant in these books, jfc y'all, let us have something
YES
i am the only person on planet earth who likes Rhone ti Flavinius. sorry everyone. he is just such an interesting case study into the Gray mind because Grays are like if Golds were midColors. theyre mini Golds. they oppress everyone else and get to relish in the power trip but they are awarded no true social power like Golds. Rhone wants to be a Gold so bad. Rhone is so angry that the only thing barring him from being as socially and physically powerful as a Gold is his birth. he has all the merit and all the status but none of the biological prestige. and that is so interesting and honestly a little psychosexual to me. But above all else I am very horny for old men with mental issues who could kick my ass
Yes! I love the introduction of his character, and the opening to how greys operate, and what it looks like to be a grey on the higher end of the society.
can PB end Red God by hanging Lysander
whenever Lysander starts talking about Pinks
Official Red God prediction: Julia au Bellona will kill Lysander cause she aināt a hypocrite
Julia au Bellona if you can hear me please take out that twink. Julia au Bellona if you can hear me please kill that evil freak.
