Idk if you’re a bi Cassius or a gay Cassius truther but on the topic of masculinity and bisexual men (because at the end of the day Cassius is bi according to pb even with 0 on page evidence) I thought about a tweet I read that was more or less how the depiction of bisexual men in media is always “straight men who also like other men” and never “gay men who also like women”. Ofc the tweet sparked a bit of controversy because of the wording (and I agree it’s badly written because it can be easily read as biphobia because bi people are not gay nor straight) but still it’s so true how the concept of femininity in appearance (whatever it is that it’s meant by it because femininity and masculinity are mostly socio-cultural constructs) is only acceptable for gay men and always in a way that it antithetical to masculinity, never in combination with it. I am a bi woman with a bi cis boyfriend and he often dresses “feminine” (eg skirts and makeup) and then I get people saying “oh darling I’m gonna hold your hands when I tell you this” but he’s also a pro swimmer so he’s very muscular and when he’s more casually dressed and just has like eyeliner or nail polish, then all of a sudden he’s perceived as a performative cis hetero male. Like what’s the conclusion, that men who “perform” femininity are either just gay or just perform it for the girls? Which leads again to the idea that femininity can only be a performance for someone’s approval and that’s what makes straight men reject it so much cause they either need to see that as a way to attract and be in command or if they feel as prey?That’s peak misogyny.

ngl i kinda perfectly understand what the original text was trying to say, there is an obsession with categorizing queer people into categories they don't identify with (they want to know if you're a straight bisexual or a gay bisexual, or a girl nonbinary or a boy nonbinary, theyfab theymab etc etc.) people think that since they aren't saying the phrase "pick a side" they aren't being biphobic. I feel like when it comes from other gay people it's coming from a place of "not all gays are queer" which i understand but they don't realize that they're being extremely counterproductive by assuming the absolute worst in someone solely based on their identity

people seem to be unable to find the balance in what queer men have in common with each other regardless of if they are bisexual or homosexual, while also not assuming that bisexuals aren't 100% the same and don't have their own unique experiences and deserve to have that seen and heard, if that makes sense.

i do think that there is an archetype of man who performs inauthentic androgyny, especially for older gay people who watch ways of flagging get turned into trends by homophobic straight men. like the whole maid outfit catboy stuff straight guys used to do. but i honestly think people can be way too aggressive and this archetype of person who is dressing a certain way for attention is basically only found in famous people and not your average run of the mill person (and even then theres some famous men i can think of who, because of the standards of their industry, could only be doing that stuff because they genuinely like it). i don't know how people expect men who do shit like paint their nails or wear eyeliner or makeup to "prove" that it's a genuine interest of theirs and not performative

and this isn't the main point but in response to your first question: i personally usually depict him as gay, but to be clear i'm very pro whatever you want to hc cassius as and i support bi cassius. as i've probably said before, i don't think pb seriously considers cassius to be bisexual and it being canon would lowkey open an extremely controversial can of worms for me cause i think pb only said cassius could be bisexual because of stereotypes. regardless of if he's gay or bi i think he deserves to present in any way whoever is playing dolls with him wants him to

you've come to the right place. cassius for sure, but i think he is more of a general pop girl stan and not specifically kpop. i feel like he would have had a semi popular stan twitter account. i have joked before that he was a former barb (guys please just listen you have no idea how it feels to have liked her before she went insane). he does NOT play about gaga, definitely stanned everybodys fav khias before they escaped the asylum (like charli and zara) and makes sure everybody knows. as for kpop, loona and newjeans are a really sensitive topic for him. outside of this i've always considered him to have a love for 80s music.

I think i could see lyria being in kpop fandoms too, like i feel like she's one of those lesbians who adores a random bg idol and thinks of him like a gay little pet kinda. like she doesn't play about soobin or someone (i dont know that group so don't quote me)
