1 Enroute Boston
Boston was always on my list. It was a place I held close to my heart because I had a close friend I needed to see. I promised I would visit. Prior to my departure to North America, it was supposed to be two friends that I would visit (V, you reading this?). This was our second attempt at visiting Boston and it was successful; pulled together haphazardly and made possible in spite of the fact that the entire length of the body of the rented car got scratched in the middle of our 5-hour drive there, and the fact that one out of our two drivers, B, was down with a case of shingles. I thought our trip was cursed. I held my breath as we drove. In the end, we made it, and the trip was one of the most memorable of the whole 4 months in North America. This picture was captured on the way to Boston on our second day, featuring the lovely fall foliage. At that point of time in November, Montreal was cold and the trees were bare. I had missed the radiant hues of fall, and I was reminded the cold is so much better paired with some colour.
2 Cafe Luna
This was the morning I (We?) woke up late, and missed our breakfast appointment at 9.30am with G, partially because our tardiness was compounded by the fact that I got the address of the place wrong, and we made a detour. The place was packed, and so, we waited about an hour in the cold for the next available spot for 5. It was a good thing we had our cupcakes from Georgetown Cupcakes to keep us occupied. The morning didn't start out great, but once we got seated, it got better! We got a spot right by the window, which explains the light. The table cloth was not really a cloth at all, but a large piece of paper, and there were crayons available, so we got to drawing while waiting for our food. I remember soaking up the feeling of being in good company. I drew our 5 little faces, without expressions, and waited for our food. My lobster eggs benedict (pictured) was something new, and while I don't particularly love the taste of lobster, it was an appealing combination.
3 Woods
This is what our AirBnb accommodation looked like in the day. A Filipino-American household that felt like it was parked in the middle of the woods. The first time trying to get here, we missed the turn off the road twice simply because we couldn't spot the driveway in the dark. The first morning we woke up to snow pelting the roof, the first sighting of snow (ever) for some of us. It was in this home that we played Saboteur and tricking the innocent (gullible?) ones among us, where we played bridge and gladly borrowed Archie comics for bedtime reading.
Collecting
Oh, hey there Tumblr.
I haven't posted anything here for about a year. Instead of scrolling through my dashboard reposting pictures of places I've never been, I've been fortunate enough to actually visit some of those places.
I'm back from a 4-month long exchange in Montreal, and when I'm asked "How was it?", I find myself unable to answer this question adequately. How can I describe the good (or the bad) and how do I find a sentence, or maybe two, to describe leaving and living?
As a result of my ineptness and in part hoping to capture some of my memories, I've decided to do short posts on each place I've been in the past year. Just 3 photographs and 3 respective paragraphs describing each capture.
Here's the list:
Frankfurt, Germany | Otzenhausen, Germany | Luxembourg | Trier, Germany | Brussels, Belgium | London, United Kingdom | Oxfordshire, United Kingdom | Amsterdam, Holland | Aachen, Germany | Cologne, Germany | Dubai, United Arab Emirates | Abu Dhabi, United Arab Emirates | Seoul, South Korea | New York City, U.S.A. | Montreal, Canada | Quebec City, Canada | Vermont, U.S.A | Ottawa, Canada | Boston, U.S.A. | Toronto, Canada | Niagara, Canada | Washington, D.C., U.S.A | San Francisco, U.S.A | Las Vegas, U.S.A. | Arizona, U.S.A | Los Angeles, U.S.A
Hopefully I'll be able to start and finish this soon!
