"9 lives"
So, it was confirmed that weāll be getting a Q&A from Lily soon. Now that was unexpected. The theories about her returning in the next chapter are starting to feel more and more realistic. Either way, Iām curious what kind of information weāll get from such a mind-broken character. But for now, here are a few small details I noticed.
1.
This is actually kind of cute. She drew herself next to the Prototype. Lily actually wants to be friends with him, even though we all understand thatās impossible.
2.
She likes CandyCat. And also the three toys we collected for her tea party. Is it cute? Sad? She genuinely considers them her friends, but only because of her long isolation and broken mind.
3.
Haha, looks like Poppy isnāt very welcome here
4.
Now this is interesting. I have no idea who these four people she labeled as āBFFā are. And theyāre humans, not toys. Itās surprising that Lily can even remember anyone at all, considering she completely forgot her past. The only thing I can assume is that one of the figures might be Gracie herself. Or she draw orphans but idk. Maybe weāll get more answers once the Q&A comes out.
Do you remember the theory that Ollie / the Prototype was originally a clown-toy in a box? And that he was Elliotās first successful living experiment: a toy in a box.
Now think about the Doctor. What was his very first successful experiment? Right, Boxy-Boo. Also a toy in a box.
It seems he was trying to replicate Elliotās experiment to understand how it worked before starting to create his own. Well⦠it clearly worked out for him.
Like father, like son, right?

Another amazing art. Iād like to share a few thoughts that came to my mind while looking at it:
1.
Itās interesting that Huggy is standing almost in the most prominent spot, right in the center. Meanwhile, Kissy is slightly off to the side and seems to receive less attention. What if this is a hint that she actually died in Chapter 5, while Huggy survived and we should expect his return in the future?
Maybe Iām wrong, but the way he raised his hands almost looks like heās presenting two sides: the side of the toys that are with us, and those who are against us. He stands in the middle, as if he hasnāt decided which side to take yet. Itās probably nonsense, but it would be quite interesting if he turned out to be an unexpected ally. Kissyās death could have been a significant reason for that.
2.
While everyone is talking about how good the Doctor looks here, Iāll say two things:
1 - I agree, he looks amazing;
2 - is it just me, or is he looking right at Poppy? Moreover, he seems to be looking at her with clear anger. Chapter 4 hinted that the Doctor has a strong dislike for her, so in Chapter 6 we might learn a lot more about the two of them. I wonder if Elliot is involved in this?
3.
Oh, just look at that! They didnāt forget about Preston! I need more content about him! He is here even without blood and dirt on his new body ...but his condition still leaves much to be desired. (Also that silly face again. He canāt even change his expression?)
What caught my attention is that heās placed next to Poppy. Logically, youād expect him to be near the Prototype (whether by his own will or not), but instead heās not only in the center, but also right beside Poppy. I have a few ideas:
1 - he might appear in the next chapter and play some kind of role;
2 - I think his placement next to Poppy could be a hint that heās on her side (and therefore on ours).
I already suspected that PW is very unlikely to feel positively about 1006 or support his point of view. I mean, come on, how can you be on the same side as a monster who killed so many people and turned you into a motionless doll? So it wouldnāt be surprising if Preston approves of Poppyās plan to blow up the entire factory, kill the Prototype in the explosion, and finally find some kind of peace after so many years of suffering.
Just some silly theories
Don't you want to become the surgeon's assistant?
There are offers you donāt refuse
āAn anomaly that should have never existed. A monster born from a brilliant yet twisted mind, created for nothing but endless slaughter and eternal servitude.ā
Iāve been playing silksong a lot lately, and it made me wonder what Yarnaby/ Quinn might look like as a bug or something similar. I donāt think this is really an AU, just me trying to draw something new for myself. It was actually pretty fun and interesting, so Iāll probably do the same with other characters.
Actually, the results were kinda the same
So apparently, the Doctorās favorite toy as a kid was a dino Bron. And he was really into dinosaurs in general. Okay. Now look at this
So youāre seriously telling me that, canonically, a fully grown man (who also was one of the smartest and most dangerous people in the entire factory) just woke up one day and went:
āYou know what? Screw this. Iām gonna make my childhood dream come true and see a giant living dinosaur! Get the operating room ready - weāll need a lot of orphans for this project!ā
Yeah. Sure. He's fine
Sometimes they just get on each otherās nerves
One of my favorite theories Iāve found online is the idea that user catbeefan95 might actually be Prestonās daughter. It seems quite possible, since PW had a wife, and the username could be a subtle and rather unsettling hint from the developers, considering how his story ended.
And you know⦠itās sad. This wouldnāt just be a story about a child who lost her father and a father who will never see his daughter again. It could be much worse.
If the ā95ā at the end of the username isnāt just a random number but actually her birth year, then the girl was born in 1995 - the same year THoJ began. Moreover, she might have been born after the rebellion at the factory. When Preston was asked what he would do once he returned home, he only mentioned his wife and didnāt say a single word about a child. What if by August 8th his wife had only been heavily pregnant and hadnāt given birth yet?
If the girl was born after August 8th, that would mean Preston never even had the chance to see his child. For the ten years he spent trapped inside the factory in the body of a toy, he lived without any idea of how his daughter was doing. He didnāt know whether she was safe, whether she was even alive, or the surviving factory higher-ups who discovered his involvement in THoJ had killed his entire family.
And besides the obvious physical pain from his new body and the guilt for what he had done in the laboratory, he would have spent those ten years constantly suffering from anxiety about his wife and daughter.
In a way, itās probably for the best that his family believes their husband and father died long ago - because the truth about what actually happened to him is far worse.
And what if the final reason Preston agreed to make a deal with 1006 was the news of his wifeās pregnancy? He had already been on the edge because of the experiments on the orphans, and now he was about to have a child of his own. Imagine being involved in the suffering of other children at work, only to go home and face your own child afterwards. Perhaps one of the reasons he wanted to put an end to the factory and the BBI was the desire to protect his daughter, to make sure she would never become the next victim of that cursed place.
The more I think about the story of this game, the more disturbing details I start to notice.
How I see their first meeting in Chapter 5
The poor thing isnāt thrilled about it
I came up with a rather insane theory and I want to share it. I should warn you right away - itās not exactly pleasant to think about, so if youāre sensitive to this kind of content, you might want to scroll past.
So, we all know that the toys need food, right? Right. Before THoJ, this issue was handled by the workers who fed the experiments. After THoJ, those same experiments began eating human bodies, as disgusting as that sounds. And some time later, the bigger toys started hunting those who were smaller and weaker than themselves.
Now think about Preston. The fandom still argues about his physical abilities, but I personally believe heās incapable of fully moving. And itās not just āpost-operation shock.ā His body itself is so fragile and poorly built that the most he can probably do is sway from side to side and move his eyes. Those movements arenāt enough to survive in a place like that - let alone hunt for food.
Everything points to the fact that he should be doomed: either to die from the teeth of other experiments or to starve to death.
But unfortunately for him, he has the Prototype, who considers PW his āfriendā and promised to always stay by his side as a form of gratitude for helping organize THoJ. Which means the manās miserable existence depends entirely on 1006. He doesnāt just guarantee Preston's safety from starving toys - he can also hunt for food and feed him himself.
Just imagine how the Prototype skewering small pieces of raw meat on his long fingers and forcefully pushing them into the poor manās mouth to make him eat. And all PW can do is endure it, because there is no way that he can fight such big and strong creature as the Prototype
And remember: right after THoJ, the main source of food was the bodies of dead people.
And donāt forget that at the very bottom of the laboratory (where 1006 lives and where his āfriendā is locked away) there were only workers, including scientists whom Preston personally knew.
Do you realize whose meat the Prototype might have been feeding him?
Do you think thatās the worst part? Not even close.
Remember that Preston was caught 10 days after the rebellion began - when most people had already been killed and turned into food. And who else did the Prototype caught during that same period?
Thatās right - Jessica. A colleague, and in some sense even a friend of Preston, someone he used to talk to often and for long periods of time.
She was killed by 1006, and we donāt know the details of her death. The idea that the Prototype fed PW with her remains is horrifying to even think about
Can you imagine his mental state after every such āmealā?
They werenāt lying.
There truly are things worse than death.
"I know when your birthday is~ ... June 28!"
I canāt stop thinking about that cardboard from the second game.
The very fact that it mentions Prestonās exact date of birth feels pretty unsettling. I remember how (because of that moment) many people thought we were playing as PW, which turned out to be a wrong theory after the recent ARGs were released. And now Iām really curious how that detail fits into the overall plot of the game itself. Preston is an extremely important character in this story, since he was directly involved in organizing THoJ, and his mention at the very beginning of the game clearly wasnāt accidental. Itās as if someone deliberately set that exact date, already knowing that we would press the button.
Now hereās a small theory: what if all of the above was actually done on purpose to deal a psychological blow to the protagonist? Because of the hallucination in Chapter 3, thereās a theory that the Angel was also directly involved in organizing THoJ, which means they might have known Preston very well and communicated with him closely. The difference is that the main character managed to be absent from work on August 8th and didnāt disappear like Preston did. What if thatās why someone (I suspect the Prototype) put PWās birth date into the recording? So at the most unexpected moment, the player would hear that date and remember their missing colleague, with whom they were involved in what happened.
It seems to me that memories like that would feel like rubbing salt in an old wound, and would very likely only intensify the feelings of guilt and horror.
