this scene breaks me but seeing yaz’s face from this angle hurts me even more
it will never not make me sad how yaz's story seems to end so suddenly. every single other companion (in NuWho anyway) has this whole existence awaiting them outside of the doctor. even those who 'die'. even those who are in love with the doctor. they all have something else, in the end.
like - rose gets tentoo. martha leaves of her own free will and works for UNIT. clara and bill get to continue travelling the universe. graham and ryan have each other, dan has diane (and his life on the TARDIS seems more like a fun interlude than full life for him anyway). the only comparable situation is donna but at least she doesn't have to remember everything she's missing.
but yaz has nothing. nothing to leave the doctor for, no new direction to head in, other than knowing that her doctor is being torn away and there's nothing she can do about it.
yes, she has the support group - but that's something graham did, and her experience is so wildly different from the others there because of the nature of their relationship.
yes, she has dan (i love their besties relationship so much lol) but even so, she's still got nothing for herself.
it's made even more bittersweet by the fact that at the start, yaz has a life. she has a job, she's going about her life as normal. but now - she is years older. she has experienced so many things, has spent so much of her life with the doctor - i mean, you gotta imagine the 9 months she spent in the TARDIS trying to find the doctor killed her life back on earth. you gotta imagine she doesn't have a job anymore, few friends, and probably is less close to her family.
and, given the change in showrunner, we probably won't even hear anything about what happens to yaz in the future either.
it's just very, very sad.
