it was hard to believe he was having any doubts in the first place,  but doesn’t everybody ?  he just knew that he wasn’t going to let them hold him back--  not at all.  it probably wasn’t going to get him anywhere worrying what could've been anyway.

WELP-- !  he just kinda said that out loud not expecting anyone to actually listen to him,  rubbing his neck as he tried to come up with a response.

turning to look off in the distance,  the initial surprise that someone else was there eventually wore off and he gave a shrug.

‘  stuff can just be too complicated sometimes,  ya know ?  you don’t wanna dwell too much on the past but at the same time you wanna know if you took the best course of action or not.  ’

....he felt that he was rambling kinda,  but he hoped what he was saying made sense at least.

sonic simply nodded as he listened, stretching a little before returning to his previous stance.  

‘  of course !  it’s been cool workin’ with you too pal.  ’

he stops for a second in response to the question, hand brought up to his chin.  sonic couldn’t exactly remember if he did either.  knuckles kept calling the other rookie,  but that probably wasn’t actually his name.

‘  --oh uh, maybe ?  it might’a just slipped my mind,  but i don’t think there was much time for introductions while we were escaping from that place anyway.  so what is your name ?  ’
